Rooibos Lemon Cloud

Herbal Rooibos Blend by Adagio Teas

The lemon is such a universal fruit with so many uses. Arguably two of its best applications are desserts and tea. In our Lemon Cloud Rooibos we have combined the bright, tangy citrus notes with creamy vanilla and a hint of lemongrass producing a soft, fluffy, lemon cream taste in a naturally caffeine free red rooibos base. Soothing and uplifting; dreamy and dessert-like.

Steep at 212° for 5 minutes.

Ingredients: blended with rooibos tea, lemon grass, marigold flowers, natural vanilla flavor and natural lemon flavor

I got this in my recent order with Adagio to replace the Lemon Meringue sample a friend sent me. Sadly, this is a weak replacement.

I’m not sure if it’s the tea itself or the way I’m brewing it, but I don’t taste any lemon at all. I tried it hot a few nights ago, and right now I’m brewing hot and pouring over ice, 4tsp/8oz, steeping 5 minutes. I might have to add another teaspoon or two, but all I really taste is the rooibos and the sugar and a bit of cream and milk. There’s a faint hint of sweet lemon, but it’s nowhere strong enough for me.

Bought three ounces of this, so I’ll experiment a bit more, but all in all I’m not in love with this.

On the plus side, I’m settling into a Hollow Crown marathon on BBC right now, and it’s incredible. Halfway through Henry IV Part 1 at the moment, and I’m looking forward to finishing Part 2 tonight!

This has been sitting in my pitcher in the fridge for about a week now. I’d forgotten what kind of tea it was! I’m 90% sure this is it :)

It’s good iced, but it’s not a favorite. I think what I really want to do is blend it with some cream or vanilla (or, you know, just order some The Lemon Is In Play from Adagio – another Cara McGee and Cabin Pressure is by far my favorite fandom) because the lemon’s a bit weak and the creaminess isn’t too strong either.

But it’s decent.

Okay, I lied about this one on my previous rating.

I really wanted a fluffy iced lemon rooibos, and even after the lackluster experience I’ve had with this one, I’ve still got 3ish ounces sitting around. So I made it extra strong – 3 heaping teaspoons for ~8oz, added in ~2 tsp of rock sugar, steeped for 6 minutes and then poured it over ice and milk.

It’s smooth, creamy, lemony and sweet. The sugar brings out the sweetness of the tea without making me feel like I’m drowning in saccharine. Definitely upping the rating on this one.

Can we say woodsy?
I’ve never had a more prominently rooibos, rooibos before. I really haven’t been drinking it that much lately as I’ve been favoring blacks/oolongs. This smells straight up woodsy, then creamy, then very lightly of lemon. I’ve had a cuppa this before and the lemon was so very faint. It is like biting into lemon pie expecting lemon and getting only whipped topping! So it leaves a lot to be wanted in my case. It is a fine late night tea, but with Adagio I’d suggest looking into green rooibos flavors instead of their plain/flavored red rooibos.

I’ve drank this several times now and I’m still lukewarm about it. It’s just not quite something enough. I can’t put my finger on what’s missing. I want to drink this at night before I go to bed, but it leaves me pondering what’s missing. That isn’t restful.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t hate it. I think I’ll try blending it with something else and see where that gets me.

Have you ever had that orange fluffy dessert that someone always brings to a potluck? That was what this tasted like only if it were made with lemon instead. Wow! Another A+ for rooibos tea. I really enjoy how the lemongrass and rooibos complement each other. I would never have guessed. Everyday my tea horizons expand. I’m loving it!

Saturday Sample Sipdown is over. Hitting the good bedtime teas now :)

I love this tea. Happiness in a cup.

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy tea and that’s kind of the same thing.”

Sipdown + Avengers = Great way to spend a Monday night.

I can’t get enough Jeremy Renner. I may love him more after watching him sing on Saturday Night Live http://vimeo.com/53767360 :)

Just realized that it has been a long time since I’ve had a rooibos tea in the evening. Tonight’s the night :)

This tea is so delicious. Creamy lemon yum. My favorite way to drink rooibos is with milk and honey.

Catching up on Tivo from the week and enjoying a good cuppa. Great way to finish the weekend :)

Sharing tea with a friend is the best. She likes it :)

I’m a huge fan of lemongrass and vanilla and rooibos! So naturally, I liked this blend. This tea didn’t smell strong. Once it was brewed, it was a nice ruddy brown tisane! The lemongrass didn’t stand out that much, but I did notice vanilla and cream. Good tea! I might add more of my lemongrass to this mix to see if this makes more a difference. Great blend, and I’m glad I’m drinking it now. Thank you so much Rachel :)

I like this tea; it’s nice and bright, springy, with a good lemon aroma that’s also slightly creamy. I brewed mine strong, and added half-and-half and sugar, and it was quite delicious.

A bit more like a tropical fruit punch than a lemon tea. Great if your in the mood for it, but I was hoping for more lemon.

I admit that I bought this even though I’m not a huge fan of rooibos, because the other additions sounded tasty.

The dry aroma of this tea is wonderful, if you like lemon chiffon. It smells like dessert – sweet, creamy, with a lemon that’s mellow, not in any way sharp. The taste doesn’t quite measure up at the recommended dosage and steep time. Adding milk brought out the flavor a little, but not much (this tea does take milk well, however, unlike some lemon teas). Sometimes with dessert-flavored rooibos teas, a little sugar will drag the flavor into the spotlight, but even that doesn’t seem to help here. The lemon chiffon flavor is faint but tantalizingly delicious.

I let the steep go and when that didn’t help I added a bit extra towards the end. Next time I’ll just start with two teaspoons per cup.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually tried this on its own, but as an addition to my mango or citrus mate it adds delicious light citrus flavors. (I also mix it with Rooibos Orange in my mate)

Not overwhelmingly lemony like I’d hoped, but a little sugar helps a lot! The rooibos flavor is nice and strong and pleasant, none of the funny aftertaste of some lower quality rooibos blends.
