Thanks Epi Tea for the samples of sachets!

I smelled this bag before putting it in the mug. Definitely did not like the smell. I absolutely adore blood oranges and it doesn’t smell like them at all. Side note: I saw “red orange” juice at the grocery store the other day. Red orange. It’s a blood orange, vampires are in, I bet it’d sell more juice.

I got a new mug yesterday! How adorable is this, and it was only $5 http://www.flickr.com/photos/thethrillstheyyield/7722304886/ He’s got some ridiculous heat retention going on making it take forever for me to be able to take a sip.

I didn’t let the sachet steep too long in hopes of avoiding the cough syrupy taste and it seems to work. It’s pretty strong on the red rooibos flavor, so I can see how it can easily turn into that flavor. Sadly, that’s not the problem. I’m getting it and it all lies in the aftertaste. It tastes pretty fantastic beforehand, a really nice mix of rooibos and citrus, but if I take too long to finish my sip, there starts to be a syrupy sweetness that lingers in my throat. It’s not too pleasant but it wouldn’t cause me to stop drinking the cup.

Beyond that, this is enjoyable. Maybe not particularly blood orange, but pretty close. Definitely reminds me of Torani’s blood orange syrup more than cough syrup in the aftertaste.

I LOVE Blood Oranges but this tisane has me really nervous based on the other reviews – usually – I don’t really let that affect me – but – time will tell, eh!?

I chose to under infuse this hoping I would have better luck. I will say it smells like Blood Orange.

The color is lovely once infused…a nice orange/tan color…like sunshine!

Because I under infused this sachet it sure helped it NOT be cough syrupy on the tongue but it does have an intense rooibos flavor with a little bit of Blood Orange Flavor.

I’m drinking this hot and think it misses the mark but I think it would be pretty good cold. I’m going to ice it and add notes to that attempt shortly.

YES! This makes more sense when iced/cold. It’s still not my fave but it’s much better cold. See previous notes!

I just now tried this one, not very good at all.

Epitea is SHADY, they remove comments about their teas from facebook if they don’t agree with, thats kinda kills the honest feedback if ya ask me, oh well the teas they sent me were NOT that good at all. negative feedback is still feedback.

The smell is true orange peel, not fake! I steeped the bag for 25 minutes in 180 water, and the doubled steeping time worked! A real blood orange flavor emerged, slightly sweet and pungent, like the blood orange soda my blood sugar can’t handle!
I’m very disappointed this was discontinued. This is the first rooibos I could enjoy unenhanced, and the first truly blood orange flavored tea I’ve had.

I’d like to write a lengthy review on this, but really, there’s only one thing to be said: this tastes like cough syrup. The kind of cough syrup that surprises you in that it doesn’t make you want to barf, but cough syrup nonetheless.

Thanks very much to Epi Tea for the pre-release sample of this!

I have to admit I’m a bit underwhelmed by this tea, especially after the Berry Rooibos yesterday. I don’t know if it’s me, but I just can’t taste the blood orange in this at all. I can smell it a bit, the taste is all rooibos.

Still, it’s a good cup, and I look forward to trying the rest of the samples!

I just got this sample in the mail today, thanks Epi Tea!!! I wish I could say that I liked it, but I want to give you my honest opinion. I thought it tasted like children’s orange cough syrup. The orange was just too overwhelming for me. However, the aroma was wonderful: just the right mix of orange with an earthy undertone. I’m so sorry Epi Tea… but I really appreciate the sample.

I didn’t find the orange in this artificial tasting or like orange cought syrup :) I really liked the hint of orange that came through on the tail end of the rooibos.

Got my samples today in the mail. It was night time so I decided to give this one a try. It has a nice odor of citrus and rooibos. I brewed it for 13 minuets and let it cool to around room temp.

It tasted more of rooibos then of the citrus, which was more of an after taste. I think though I might have used too big a cup to brew it in though. I will have to use a smaller cup for the next samples I try.

Overall it is not bad. It is more for a plain rooibos lover with the citrus adding a nice after taste.

got this in a sample – so brief impression

first time trying rooibos tea so i dont have anything to compare this to

the smell of this tea is pretty mild although distinctive ….the taste however is pretty orangy? i guess not so much like a real orange, but maybe some sort of orange candy taste, was very present almost like an orange lollipop…. but one that you drink it also fades away very pleasantly after each sip

im not so much for sweet(will effect my rating), i tend to like black teas that are bland/dark in flavor…. so this isnt a tea i would drink but i find it very interesting

i could see children really liking this tea or anyone who likes that candy/orangy taste in their tea

overall im very impressed with this tea but its not for me

Thanks to Epi Tea for the sample sachet.

This is my first experience with Rooibos tea of any kind. I can’t say I was too thrilled with this tea…others have described it as having an orange cough-syrup taste, and I would have to agree. The tea smells a lot better than it tastes, in my opinion.
