Made a chai latte with this chai concentrate for the first time last night.
Meh.
It was good. Better than I presumed it would be. But… I’ve had better.
I’ve had much better.
Quite sweet. Rather mellow for my taste in Chai. And, I knew something was wrong right away when I saw how watery it was, as it poured out of the box.

At our conference last week, one of the vendors was giving away samples of this at her booth. She gave me a handful to try.

Oh. My. God. It’s sweet. Jaw-locking sweet. Painfully sweet. The taste itself is actually not too bad once you get past the sweet (okay, the aftertaste isn’t too bad), but it’s way, way too sweet for me.

I’ve got two more samples of this…who wants them?

Since I’m in a hotel, I can’t prepare chai the traditional way (no stovetop). A friend suggested that I try this as an alternative.

It was okay, not spectacular (didn’t compare at all with making chai with actual tea leaves and spices!).

I had a migraine, so I “got” to taste it again an hour later. Now I can’t stand to look at it. I don’t want to rate it because of that. I’ll try again in a few days.

Received a free sample of this in the mail. My husband chortles and shakes his head each time he sees a catalog or free sample in the mail. I’ll admit the combos of Rishi Tea, Women’s Health, and the latest in concealment holsters and Kevlar isn’t your everyday mix.

Anyway, I didn’t hate this as much as I thought I was going to. It is pretty sickenly sweet and I had to constantly stir my cup due the mix settling between each sip. I smell the spices more than I taste them. I’d much rather make my own chai (but it is time consuming to do it properly). Right now Adagio’s Thai Chai reigns supreme in my book. This isn’t bad if you are seriously craving some chai.

Meh, on the borderline of yucky. This is almost too sweet (and I like my sugar with tea and cream). Hardly any spices. Actually, this tastes like sugar cane flavored milk with a hint of tea and honey. Yuck. While I was pouring the mix into my cup, it smelled like Arizona sweetened Iced Tea….:O
I haven’t had it in a few years, but I remember the Tazo chai mix being much, much better than this.

Huh. Today this actually hit the spot. It is very sweet, but it’s not “yucky” the way my last cup was. At the same time, this was so sweet that I had to chase it down with some water. I definitely won’t repurchase, but I may be able to at least finish off the carton.

Tall double dirty chai latte on Monday morning for breakfast at a cafe in Seattle who’s proceeds go to support New Horizons Ministry. Not the slightest sickeningly sweet. Delicious actually.

made as directed with 8oz water and a (generous) splash of milk. Added chocolate flavored marshmallows because I’m trying to get rid of them.

It’s ok, for a powder, I guess… it’s not my ideal chai because a) powdered mix = flat taste b) too much cinnamon and not enough vanilla. It was a free sample, and worth every penny. Will drink but won’t buy.

Since it’s the original I will let it slide but since Chai (even powder chai) has come a long way now in the states they need to improve or evolve. Other that it’s “OK”. Had HOT. It was a FREE Sample – eventho – I have had it before – it serves a purpose, I suppose. I just don’t like the aftertaste.

Bought this on-sale at the Old Fashioned Foods, not sure how “old fashioned” chai latte mix is, really.

It’s not bad in a pinch, when you’re craving a chai latte, but don’t want to go through the trouble of boiling up tea, spices, + milk on the stove for 10 minutes. I agree with others that it’s rather sweet, so much so that I added extra milk just to mellow it out a bit. Not getting any of that strange aftertaste that people keep mentioning…

Got this at a coffee shop where I’m mooching free wi-fi. Meh.

More wireless mooching.. last day in Austin. Sad. But at least I’m leaving with a ton of new tea..

It’s chai tea in a box. What more to say. It’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick and will totally get you your chai tea fix if you can’t find anything better.

If it gets old it won’t dissolve, unlike hot cocoa

Overall, this is fine for when you’re at work or can’t take the time to make anything more complicated. I think there have been some changes to this mix over the last three years. It isn’t as sweet as it used to be. Also, it now has milk in it so it says you can “just add water” if you like. Of course I still used milk. ;)

Okay so I am a Chai Fanatic and this was my very first Chai tea, and let me tell you I think it is a great into into Chai if you are a) New to Chai b) New to tea in general because you were transioning from coffee. The reason why I say this is because it is more like a supper sweet Cinomminy milky drink that you get when you add water to it. So yes this is a drink that a person that is just starting may like more then the tea from the Bag. If the person ends up liking it is really easy to get curious and want to try other Chai, and Teas in General so for me I love this tea because it opened my knowledge of Chai~! The taste is pretty good too! Like I said on the Sweet side but you can deffinitly taste the chai it is really enjoyable when it is cold!

Disgustingly sweet. Sweet was pretty much all I could taste. This really has no right to call itself chai.

I was browsing my teacher’s tea basket and found this instead of the tea I was looking for. So I decided to pick it up and make it for dinner.

I wasn’t sure how to make it so I just dumped it into a mug of hot water and stirred in the powder until it was dissolved. Because I wanted a cooler drink with my meal, I then dumped the mixture into a 16 oz glass filled 1/4th with milk.

It was really interesting. The milk made it very creamy. I thought it tasted like a pumpkin pie. It was good. I would probably have it again but not very often. It was almost too sweet for my taste.

I had this without any milk and I had to make it strong because the water ran out of the kettle and I only got half a cup. Wow, this tea packs more of a sweet, sweet punch than I remember. I actually don’t really like it that much any more. I’ve had better by just making my own chai strong and adding milk and honey. It isn’t terrible. I’ve just had better now.

I had two cups of this for dinner. I had them in a school coffee mug which is a little smaller than my normal mug so it was strong. The first one I had plain and the second one I had with some milk. The milk mellowed out the flavors but drinking it strong was an interesting experience.

This was my introduction to chai. I’ve since had better ones, by FAR, but for what it is, it doesn’t suck. And it piqued my curiosity about all the other kinds of chai out there, so can’t really fault it toooo much.

It was rather sweet and uneventful. I am not a huge fan of chai teas normally, so the lack of spice was nice, though untrue to the heart of a real chai tea. It is rather quick to make though which is a plus. The free sample was nice at least.

Throw this in a cup with hot water and milk if you like. Instant yum. Their isn’t many instant beverages that are worth buying often…this is one of them.

Thankfully got this as a free sample. It was lackluster and obnoxiously sweet. The honey is definitely there, but the milk wasn’t quite right. There was no kick whatsoever to it. Just a very slight hint of spices. Even after I added my own bagged chai tea, the oversweetened latte mix didn’t complement so much as it did completely bury the spices. It does to chai tea what Starbucks does to coffee.
