Herbal Rooibos Blend by The Republic of Tea

Herb Tea for Detoxing

Had too much of a good thing? Feeling out of balance, a bit heavy or puffy? Then it’s time to get clean. This gentle naturally caffeine-free herbal detox blend helps the body help itself as it stimulates the liver, one of our natural cleansing mechanisms.

Ingredients: Rooibos (leaf), Milk Thistle (seed), Indian Sarsaparilla (root), Dandelion (root), Chicory (root), Burdock (root), Red Clover (herb), Natural Vanilla Flavor, Natural Almond Flavor.

I’m kind of a sucker for detox stuff. Especially after holidays/weekends/late-night dinners. I keep this at work in case I feel gross in the morning after any/all of those instances.

It kind of grows on you. I couldn’t place the smell for the longest time (rooibos, apparently, but somewhat familiar…), until I went back to my alma mater for homecoming. Apparently, my campus has a slight smell of rooibos. Figure that one out. I actually stepped outside and said, “It smells like that tea!”

It’s a bit potent, but I like the taste of it. Not crazy dark, but not subtle, either. Apparently I enjoy rooibos. Who knew. As for a detox, it’s all right. Not a serious detox, certainly, but it makes me feel a little less gross come lunch time.

I got this from Jillian:) This is only the 2nd detox tea I’ve tried, both of which have been bags.

I didn’t even have to take the bags out of the ziplock before smelling the rooibos… uh oh. Oh well, I’ve been surprised by rooibos before. I way the bag and am not surprised when it reads 1.3g. All of ROT’s bags that I’ve tried have been extremely light, but fortunately that doesn’t mean I’ve wished for more leaf. I steeped 1 bag in 6oz of water just below boiling point for 7 min. Another uh oh, I can smell the rooibos even stronger the second the bag hits the water.

7 min later I take sip. Holy rooibos! Well at least it doesn’t taste like licorice. The almond and vanilla do sweeten it and I can taste the sarsparilla as well. Actully it tastes like a lighter, sweeter version of the Rootbeer Rooibos Fava Tea Co. sells.

Weak, even after a long steep — stingy amount of leaves in the bag. Mildly diuertic, and the rooibos will help one re-balance, but hardly a serious detox. I’d suggest brewing up your favourite loose rooibos instead and knocking back a good potful.

Okay, so I am a pretty active person and I’m always doing something. I work out 3-5 days a week consistently, but I recently injured myself and am unable to get up and moving like normal, along with that I started eating a lot of foods that I shouldn’t be eating or normal foods that I could easily work off with a good 30 minute workout.

That being said, I decided since I can’t get up and workout I need to start eating healthier so I can get back to my normal weight or at least maintain where I’m at until I can start working out again. So, I decided the first step would be to detox all of this bad stuff I had been consuming and I found this tea!

This tea is great! I love the taste and I love the fact that it works. Before I purchased this tea I read from several people that it doesn’t do what it says it does. I went ahead a purchased it anyway because I figured people weren’t giving it time…and I was right. After drinking it two times a day (after dinner and before bed) for 4 days I stared noticing my body cleaning its self out more and by the fifth day I was extremely regular and feeling much better about myself.

I am finally back to myself, but I’m still going to drink this tea because it tastes really good to me. I just put in an order for a refill and can’t wait to get it in the mail!!!

Backlogging this one. It’s been a little while since I’ve done a detox, so I decided this was a good week to do one. Tomorrow is my last day of my “detox week”, and I’d have to say it’s nice. I’m feeling better about myself overall, maybe because I’m being healthier overall.

Either way, this tea tastes nice. I put a tsp. of honey in it, and I love it.

I’m not even in need of much of a detox but last night I really wanted some tea before bed and my mom was in the kitchen so I asked her to surprise me with something “delicious and decaffeinated”

What she brought me was this with some vanilla almond milk in it. Definitely fit the bill for what I was asking! Calming, rich, smells delicious, and of course if you like red tea (like I do) it tastes delicious and earthy like red tea is supposed to.

Good to know that when I DO need a detox (read: after thanksgiving) that I’ve got a delicious tea to fall back on!

Loved this tea. I especially liked the nutty flavor of it. It’s pairs really well with Tim Tams.

Great for those days when you are feeling like you overdid it in terms of eating

I thought I’d give it a try. Taste is subtle … kinda pleasant. I will continue to drink this… I wonder if it really works?

Eh, not really impressed with this one. I might just have a stale batch but it tastes slightly sweet, slightly herbal, and not much else. Unless this miraculously cures all my ills I don’t think I’ll be running out to buy this after I’ve finished this container.

After all the over-indulging I’ve done during the holidays, a bit of Detoxing might not be a bad thing.

Another cup of good-for-me tea down the hatch. /faux British accent ;)

This tea does taste rather like a medicinal tea would, so I wonder if I steeped it to medicinal strength (ie. 10-15 minutes) if it would cure all my ills?
/sarcasm ;)

Unfortunatly steeping this longer doesn’t make it taste better, only more herb-y. Basically it tastes like it’s ‘good’ for you. :S

For some reason this tea is tasting particularly gross to me tonight. Urgh, I guess that’s a sign that, healthy for me or not, it’s time for me to get rid of this. >:(

This feels quite a lot like taking medicine. :S

Whew, I didn’t realize how many teas I owned until I had to add them all to my cupboard!

I suspect this’ll get lost in the ‘spam’ of everyone updating their Cupboards, but it’s not like I have anything interesting to say about this tea that I haven’t said before. I’ve been very stressed lately and my diet and everything have gone to hell, so maybe this’ll help a little. shrugs :)

I figured with all the horrible stress I’ve been under that my body could use a bit of a clean-up, here’s hoping it actually helps.

I seem to be on a bit of a honey kick right now. I added about half a spoonful and I actually really enjoyed the way it changed the taste. It’s still distinctly herby but not in such an obvious good-for-you way. It’s sweet, but not hugely so, just right for before bed.

Detox tea that doesn’t taste like detox tea. Warming, rich and nutty. Great before bedtime on a winter evening.
