Busy day…just glad i get to drink tea today. Working from home since doggo couldn’t go in to work today with Dad because our car is finally getting repaired from the hit and run driver dmg. Stupid people. She is not enjoying her day home with mom because i’m BORING and have to work whereas when she goes in with dad there are other ppl to love on her while dad works haha. Doggo’s life is so hard. This one is really hitting the spot today.
Dexter sent this to me in another life and i’ve finally picked some up for my cupboard since i had ZERO keemuns! This harvest isn’t smokey, but it is a tea that i’ll be adding a drop of maple syrup to when i take it in the travel mug i think. It’s got a bit of a cocoa feeling to it but not overly so….there’s a depth here that i am enjoying.
Finished this one off today because i needed something good to get me through the end of this week. Work is insane, people are starting to let their stress show through (myself included), and i had a follow up appointment as the dr are trying to figure out this lump on my face…they originally thought it was a cyst…now it’s not…they think it’s infected, we’ve done an ultrasound…yadda yadda so now i’d wait for it to settle some more and then they’re going to cut it out and send it to pathology… always love not knowing things. Not really worried about it..but it’s another thing to have on the go with some uncertainty. on the upside..it’s friday, it’s a long weekend, we’re working on the house this weekend AND we have friends coming over to game!
And the hubby wants me to relax tonight so i’m off the hook for dishes, groceries, cooking AND house prep…just have to eat, drink wine and watch whatever bad tv i want…or read. :) yay!
Final Count: 86
Oy, yikes for the mystery lump, Sil. The whole is-it-fatal-or-is-it-no-big-deal-or-should-I-worry dance sucks. Hope answers and easy enough solutions are coming soon.
Super hurray for tea and relax and lovely thoughtful hubby!
happy to have this one back in my cupboard for a little bit. My teavivre keemun is still not here, which in a way is GOOD for my weight goal for feb…since ALL the teas showed up at once. I really do miss not having some keemuns in my cupboard. this was a reminder of how much i do enjoy them when i have them.
mmmm thank you dexter! I picked this as one of my teas this morning and i kept reaching for it even after i’d finished it. In usual keemun fashion i added a bit of maple syrup to this but it didn’t need it. I just like the way keemuns + maple work for me. This could easily be one of my staple tea as it’s not too demanding, but it’s also not unassuming. Appreciate the share dexter! tasty!
Preparation
That’s exactly how I felt about the Yunnan I was drinking earlier today, you just expressed it better than I did. :))
:) I feel like one of these days i need to have a keemun challenge and just drink as many of them from different companies as possible
ifjuly – I had noted that you were an assam, and yunnan fan? Am I confused or should I just add keemun to the list and send you samples of all my black teas…. :))
haha, please don’t worry about sending me stuff! i don’t have enough stuff i think you’d like to send back…i thought of a few more things but it’ll be a little bit because i need to restock them first (down to my last cup with a buncha golden moon :O ). i do love keemun though—i love smokiness, and rich not-very-sweet chocolate notes, so it makes sense i would. honestly, there aren’t many black teas as general categories go that i hate across the board…ceylon’s the only one i can think of offhand, and even that can be amazing when done right (sinharaja FTW).
i still need to add maple syrup to keemun sometime. every time Sil mentions it i’m like “oooooh that sounds good!”
Golden Moon? as in Golden Moon Tea? http://www.goldenmoontea.com/
This is why I need to keep sending you tea! Trust me you have lots I’m interested in :))
Yeah! As soon as I place it and get my favorites reordered—I highly doubt they’re doing anything for seasonal sales but just in case I’m going to wait a week or so—I’d be super excited to send you some.
I’m not in any rush and I’m not requesting anything, but Golden Moon has been on my list forever, but shipping is astronomical to Canada…..
This came in a surprise package from Dexter3657 – thank you!
I am liking how good this tea is – sweet and malty. I have not yet found those cocoa notes, which I really enjoy in black tea’s. I’ll give this a go with Dexter’s lower temp, longer steep recommendation. Despite the fact that I can’t taste the cocoa, I appreciate the malty profile in this tea.
Drank the last of this at work today. I still really like it. It’s almost perfect for a work tea for me. Can’t really hurt it, it’s inexpensive, and I don’t feel like I’m wasting “special” tea because I’m not paying attention to all the nuances.
I will definitely buy more of this on my next Capital Tea Ltd. order.
When I only have 175 teas in my cupboard and my average spending for the year is at or below 50.00/month….
Well make sure to be more precise from now, you know I’m watching…I can be very industrious for a good cause, lol!
This is ny tea of choice at work today. This is just a nice Yunnan Black. I think I’ve decided that I’m not sophisticated enough, don’t have a refined palate to really get all the subtle nuances of some of the “fancy” teas.
This was inexpensive, plain Jane, Yunnan tea – and I like it. Thinking that I don’t need the “special grade”, limited edition, high end – just give me a nice bold cup of black tea.
I bought quite a few Yunnan teas from Capital, and so far this is my favorite.
C’mon now, you’re sophisticated to me! Plus you have some truly delicious teas that you’ve shared, many of which you’ve now hooked me on.
I kinda found that out with Teavivre’s multiple grades of different teas—a lot of the time I couldn’t taste the delicate nuance in the top top top tier versions. I guess that’s good, more money leftover for more tea, ha.
Another tea from the lovely dexter that i was drinking this morning. I don’t get quite the same intense flavour profile as YYZ and she do, but this is a good cup of tea. It’s malty and sweet, and there are cocoa notes in this one that make me smile. Saving the last little bit of this to share with the BBB Box ladies since it might be one that really appeals to them. If i ever place a capital tea order, this one will likely be on the list of teas to pick up :) Thanks dexter!
I guess it doesn’t matter if you are passing it on, but I like this one with cooler water and longer steep. Something like 90C for 5+ minutes. Capital Teas has lots of choices, I’m sure you can find some more to your taste.
working from home today! yay for being able to drink up a few cups of tea to get back to 150 asap! Also, not feeling 100% today so it’s nice to be taking it easy, at least in terms of getting dressed…. i always work harder at home
this one isn’t my favourite but it’s not bad. There’s a taste to it that i don’t love..not quite astringency but something else. can’t quite pinpoint it. Thanks for sending this my way though dexter! i haven’t had a chance to try many capital teas yet.
This was the free sample (20g sample) that came with my order. I would never buy a darjeeling, haven’t really enjoyed the ones I’ve had.
The fact that I’m almost out of this, and not hating it, must indicate that it is more towards my tastes, but still not there. Surprisingly smooth though.
“Full bodied” “rich” “brisk” are some of the words used to describe this tea. I’m agreeing with those, and am going to add bold, and astringent.
This isn’t my favorite of the Capital Teas that I have, and I prefer JusTea Kenyan Black – but this is better than most of the Kenyan teas I’ve tried.
I’m just leaving this as “pretty good, but not my favorite”.
I’ve been really happy with the teas I ordered from Capital Tea Ltd.
This one is not quite to my tastes, I’ve decided that Assam isn’t my favorite style of black tea.
Having said that, I think this is a nice quality Assam, with a nice balance of flavor and astringency.
Hi all. I have been horrible about writing tasting notes leately. I’m going to try and get better at that. I am around, I read the discussions board pretty regularly, I’m drinking tea, just not logging it.
I have a love/hate relationship happening with my tea cupboard. Some days I’m perfectly happy with all the wonderful amazing choices I have, some days I’m so overwhelmed with how much I have that I can’t choose anything and just drink pop. I’ve haven’t been concentrating on drinking old tea, drinking sip downs. I’ve just been drinking whatever I want. This has to change. I have old favorites that I’m hoarding – why am I hoarding them, they are just going stale. I have 40 teas that are less than 15g (perfect for sipdowns). I have a MOUNTAIN of chai that I’m not drinking – and chai season is here so I should be doing that. I have LOTS of dark oolong that I haven’t been drinking – need to work on that too. So new rules just got put in place. See if I can get my cupboard more balance, reduced, more current. I need to drink one sipdown, one chai, and one old tea per day. I need to take an oolong to work one day a week. That’s my project for the next month. Will see what happens.
This is my chai choice for today. This is probably my favorite of all the ones that I have. The spices are well balanced and not overwhelming. This is really nice on a cold afternoon. I need to drink this more often… :))
This is a really nice black tea. I’ve been drinking my Capital Tea blacks and have been lazy about writing tasting notes. I had this a few times at work this week, and it works really well at work. It’s well balanced and bold without being too strong that it oversteeps.
I’m not sure this is on my favorite black list, but it is a nice everyday kind of tea.
Meanwhile my brother was asked to babysit Gizmo and his gf sent me a pic of his “babysitting” which basically entails him napping and Gizmo sleeping on his shoulder while wearing her cone of shame.
oh man hahaha
