From Yezi Tea

Silver Needle tea has been grown in the Fuding County of Fujian province since the early days of the Ming Dynasty. Our tea comes from local tea farmer Yu Qizhao. The tea is harvested in spring, when the young sprouts possess an intensely fresh flavor. After they are harvested, the tea leaves are set across bamboo trays to dry. This loose-leaf tea has a smooth, delicate, honey-sweet flavor with notes of tangerine. Many Chinese consider Silver Needle to be the personification of sophisticated enjoyment and preserve their reserves of if for special occasions such as the New Year, weddings, and family reunions.

Use: 4-5 grams or 3 tsp. of tea
Water amount: 1 gram of tea / 50ml of water or 1 tsp. of tea / 2 oz. of water
Temperature: 85-90 °C or 185-194 °F
Brew: 3-4 times
First brew: 1:00 minutes:seconds
Subsequent brews: Add 15 seconds

Sample sipdown (136) I picked this one up with my last Yezi tea order just to try another white tea. They generally not my favourite, but i keep trying to see if there are any that knock my socks off like the one i tried from MF.

This one is tasty, but again falls short, only because of my inability to really appreciate white teas. It’s not overly floral and there’s a smooth, sweetness to this that i quite like. Overall a nice little tea, though folks who appreciate white teas will likely enjoy it much more than me :)

Smooth, sweet, and slightly floral. Very resteapable, 5g brewed my full kettle plus one more steep, which few teas do. This was enjoyable, but didn’t really “wow” me like the other Yezi samples have.

However I’m yet to find a white tea that does wow me, so this might very well be an amazing one. I picked this as a sample sort of hoping to find a white tea that would amaze me, but it may be that I just don’t like whites as much as other teas. :P

New territory, white tea…….oooh. Brewed according to Yezi’s directions. Soft, gentle leaves which remind me of a birds nest in my cha he. Used 5g in 250 glass pot, steeped for 1 min. The leaves are now fuller but just as soft and fluffy as they were dry. The aroma to be was of a honey biscuit topped with geranium sugar. The flavor soft almost imperceptible, a slight hay flavor leading to a sweetness on the finish. Glad I chose this for later in the day, as my roasted TGY had started to fade and this brought out a contemplative tasting which I’ll need to repeat to get all the answers I think this tea is trying to convey.

This was my second of three samples requested from Yezi recently. I’m not so experienced with white teas, and so I steeped the first cup a bit too long. The resteep was better. Delicate, subtle, slightly floral and sweet.

Errp. Well, thanks to Raritea for sharing this, and Yezi for originally sending it… I guess I drank it and failed to make any notes whatsoever. How terrible of me. I have no recollection of it, but given that I don’t remember it, I suspect the flavour was super light, and I wasn’t overly fond of it. Otherwise it probably would have made an impression. Fairly standard reaction to a white tea, for me.
