Watermelon Raspberry Green Tea

Green Tea by 52teas

With Labor Day fast approaching, the end of summer is right around the corner. We’ve decided we need one last taste of summer in our tea of the week this week. It’s our Watermelon Raspberry Green Tea with real freeze-dried raspberry pieces and natural watermelon and raspberry flavors. This is a delicious treat, particularly iced. Looking forward to reading your reviews of this.

This tea has so much watermelon scent. It comes through very strong in the leaf and in the steep. I don’t smell much raspberry, but I can taste it a bit in the tea. The watermelon flavor in this is such a real juicy sweet watermelon taste, it doesn’t taste like a tart watermelon candy, but just a sweet juicy flavor. I wish the raspberry was there a bit more, but it might distract from the buttery smooth taste of the tea.

Used the last of this to make a pitcher of iced tea tonight. Hubby and I both have been drinking it constantly. I will have to purchase another pouch.

This makes an amazing iced tea! I added a little splenda to see if it brought out more of the fruit flavors, and wow, either the icing of the tea helped, or the sweetner, but this is mega watermelon flavored with a nice raspberry finish. I love they buttery notes to the sencha base. This is becoming a favorite tea.

This one is kind of crazy. I taste so many things. I can taste the buttery flavor of the sencha, I can even taste the essence of watermelon but not sure if I can taste the raspberry. I am glad this isn’t tart at all since sometimes that happens with raspberry. It is sweet and buttery and sometimes a watermelon tea and other times tastes like a Watermelon Jolly Ranger which is AWESOME!

Bumping this up for cold brewing awesomeness. What’s interesting the Sencha base was so much more vegatal. The watermelon and raspberry was fresh and sweet. Perfect summer drink.

Bumping up! Seriously, this just keeps getting better every time I drink it. Both my parents loved it too. Yummy!

Received this one from my order with Rachel at iHeartTeas from her partnership with 52Teas to bring back some retired teas and I am SO glad they did this! This smells so yummy as it steeps with the watermelon flavors being the strongest of the bunch. Actually had some co-workers eying the pouch I brought in and I nicely directed them to Rachel’s shop! My tea, not theirs!

There is a nice light flavor to this tea and it is the perfect start to my day. Actually I think this is my go to tea for today seeing as it is my Friday. Why not treat myself?

Enjoying this iced this morning as the weather dude says it’s going to be 90 today!! I of course have one of the few half dead a/c units. So I’m going to need this to make it to lunch time. At which time I can dash home and make some more!! It is going to be one of those weeks I can tell already (had off for Memorial Day yesterday – need more Monday’s like that).

Oh right the ‘note’…I can taste the sencha with just the hint of watermelon in the aftertaste. Very refreshing!

Look what just arrived in the mail!

OK… so when Frank introduced the Blueberry Danish – I was tempted BUT I thought, I can wait. This one looks good, but, I need to exercise some self-control. It will be here in a couple of weeks or so when you’re ready to buy.

Same thing with the Earl Grey Cheesecake, although I must admit that it was even harder to exercise my self-control here… I mean, it was EARL GREY and CHEESECAKE. I love Earl Grey. I love Cheesecake. I wanted and I wanted it right away but, I was patient and I decided to wait another week or two.

But this week, I could not contain it. I HAD to order this tea. Of course, I ordered the other two I just mentioned at the same time… and I look forward to trying those very soon. But this is the first one I had to try.

I love Watermelon. The problem is that with Watermelon teas… so few companies blend it right and the watermelon ends up tasting just … I don’t know … off. But, if I have faith in any tea artist (other than myself) it is Frank. He is the best. (notice I am trying to butter him up so that he’ll make my tomato, basil and black pepper green tea blend soon )

And I am not disappointed! The watermelon flavor tastes perfect here… the flavors are a little light, but this is a green tea, so I expect that. If the flavors were any stronger, they would overwhelm the sencha base, and I really like the green tea that Frank uses. It is sweet and buttery and is the perfect base for these fruit flavors (and would also be a delightful base for a tomato, basil, and black pepper blend).

The raspberry flavor is sweet and slightly tart and really brings out some of the more delicate flavors of the watermelon, rather than overwhelming them.

Yum Yum Yum!

I used my last bit of this tea to make some iced tea – but, I’m a little disappointed with this last batch. The flavors are are a bit muted this time… it wasn’t this way with the last batch, so I don’t know what happened. Oh well… it is still tasty but not nearly as good as it is was last time.

I brewed up a big batch of this for iced tea… and it is yum! This one is definitely best iced (although I liked it hot too). The fruit flavors really come to life, the watermelon is sweet, the raspberry has that sweet-tart flavor that lingers in the aftertaste. So refreshing.

Another backlog from this afternoon…

Still just as yummy as the first time I tried it… Delicious!

My latest 52teas order arrived today!

I’m starting with this one, because out of the new ones, this is the one I was looking forward to the most. I have rather high expectations of this. Fruity and berry-y green and white blends have consistently been a hit with me from 52teas, and that alone is reason enough to give this one a try as well.

I really like raspberries and I really like watermelon, but the raspberry/watermelon combination isn’t one that would immediately have popped into my mind. I don’t think I’ve ever had a watermelon flavoured tea before, but I have had your various sorts of cordial or squash and such with watermelon in it. And always it seemed rather plastic-y and synthetic to me.

Please let this be different. Please.

The leaves have a funny sort of aroma. Fruity, but neither raspberry or watermelon. It’s a sticky, sweet smell. A little bit like… if you can imagine fruit-flavoured butter, that’s more or less it. If I concentrate, I can recognise it as primarily watermelon, but it’s a little difficult. I think it’s the aroma of the sencha mixed in that’s messing with my nostrils.

After steeping the fruit-flavoured butter is more cream-y. I’m reminded of ice-cream here, and the sencha is standing out more on it’s own here. Slightly salty and slightly vegetable-y. I like the steeped aroma better than the dry aroma, I think.

Now, the important bit. The flavour. The flavour really works! It’s summer-y fresh, but still a bit heavy on the sweetness so it’s got a lot of body.

I’m getting a lot of the sencha flavour profile primarily, but the fruity-ness sort of wraps around it and becomes a secondary thing. A companion piece, if you will.

This is not a bad thing. I’m a Kusmi fangirl, remember? I like it when it’s not totally in your face.

It’s not that it doesn’t have lots of fruit flavour, because it does. It just doesn’t cover everything.

I’m getting a lot of the watermelon, but again the flavour is a little twisted by the natural flavour profile of the sencha. Lots and lots of almost pure watermelon on the aftertaste, though. LOTS!

Not so much raspberry other than a creamy note on the finish, especially, and, to a smaller degree, aftertaste, which is a bit of a shame I think.

All in all, I’m quite pleased with this, and it’s totally living up to my expectations. And not synthetic at all.

A brand-new bubbly massaging foot bath. (Christmas present from me to myself)
An episode of Red Dwarf.
A cup of this.

Aaaaaaaaaaah!

Something flavoured and fruit I thought. So I looked through what I had and came up with the basket of non-tinny stuff. Been a while since I’ve been in that one. It also hold my 52teas stuff and remembering that I knew what to go for. 52teas is always good for a fruity fresh blend.

The green is shining through today and being sencha-y. The fruit is more of a sort of afterthought, and while normally I rather enjoy the very fruit-heavy blends, today this more fruit-discreet result is just the thing that hits the spot. What a lucky coincidence.

I bought this one from iheartteas through the out of retirement effort with 52teas.

It smells tart. I can definitely smell raspberry, but the watermelon isn’t yet present.

170/3 min. The sencha tastes divine. It has a richness that blends so well. It’s thick and slightly buttery. The tea is very tart from the raspberry. Very tart. It makes me pucker. I cannot taste watermelon. I’m going to try again at a shorter steep time.

Oh yumma-yumma-yumma! Delish, but going away into the tea cupboard until we have 70 degree days. Feels a bit odd drinking this with huge snowdrifts outside!

I’m not tasting any raspberry in this at all. Just a great combo of watermelon and green tea. (Who would have thought that would be so good)

Thanks Meghann for this one.

Another delish blend by Frank!

Thank you JoeCool (Nichole) for relinquishing some of this tea for me to try. :)

I haven’t had much luck lately with 52teas and rooibos. Don’t get me wrong, I love the teas Frank creates but red rooibos gives me headaches/migraines. Green seems to be my friend, though, and that trend continues with this delightful tea.

Watermelon is such a light flavor usually but not with this creation! This is much more watermelon than raspberry, although I can smell the raspberry flavor. To me, this is summer in a cup. I think about my Oma’s raspberry patch and her raspberry crisp, plus the watermelon slices she always has in the fridge… this tea makes me smile. DELISH!

Oh, and no headaches either! YAY!

I have been intrigued by reports of this tea and finally get to try it thanks to RachanaC (A.K.A. Rachel) via TeaTra.de’s Marketplace.

The leaves themselves look very pretty, dark green and glossy, with bright pink bits of dried watermelon and raspberry mixed in. It smells very strongly of watermelon, which I’ve found rare in the flavored tea world.

The taste is wonderful, like candy. Watermelon is the first and strongest flavor, followed by the summery sencha itself, then raspberry. This feels really appropriate for a cool spring day here. I think I’ll take it out onto my balcony garden and sit in the sun for a while…

Second review. Finishing up my sample. And this is definitely going on my shopping list.

I used the last of it to make a tall glass of iced tea. After a teaspoon or two of sugar, this is delightful. Very refreshing. I can tell that this would make a good summer staple. I dunno if I’d make it in large batches like regular sweet tea, since it’s kinda special, but I will definitely revisit it. Another winner from 52teas.

Thank you! Meghann M. for this and the other two in our swap. TI had my cup earlier this evening. This tea smells like raspberry and abit of watermelon with the green tea. Its a pretty tea to with the pieces of raspberry. This taste like a good semi sweet tart raspberry and abit of watermelon and a good green tea that I can still taste. This was a really good fruity green tea.

I have had this before (about a week or so ago) but oversteeped it by quite a bit and so thought it wouldn’t be worth logging as I wouldn’t be able to say anything constructive about it. Anyway, I made a couple of litres of this iced this morning and, I must say, it is very fruity and refreshing. The watermelon raspberry flavours are very subtle, the raspberry being the more subtle of the two. This is very, very juicy! I sweetened this just a little bit but I wouldn’t say it even needed the tiny amount I used.

I’m really going to miss this tea when it is all gone, but happily, I’m not out of it yet. It is so delicious. The fruit flavours are light and natural and balance well with the green tea. I found that a lower steeping temp and longer steep time gave the best results for this tea.

Nearly out of this now! :( I don’t think I used enough leaf today though as the taste was even lighter than usual, and I struggled to find the raspberry taste. The juicy watermelon in this is just right – sweet but not cloying and it has the delicious aftertaste that watermelon gives you right after you have swallowed. The taste doesn’t hang around for long though, which is a shame.

I just proofread that last bit and I’m glad I did as I made about a hundred typos in there.

I love the taste of this tea – juicy and fruity – but it is so fernickity. I can’t let it oversteep, even by a little bit, otherwise it gets very bitter, which is sad and a bit of a waste. On the other hand, it is a perfect tea for the warm weather we have been having over here.

My Libre infuser mug has arrived! I literally let out a “yay!” when my boyfriend brought the mail in and I saw the box. I only had bagged tea whilst waiting for the cup to get here because the teaball I had was rusting (ew). LiberTeas has given me so many yummy teas to try that it was hard deciding which tea to use first with my awesome new mug. I chose this because I just had pot roast for dinner and I wanted a nice fruity tea. This is good! AND it’s a green tea! I bet this would be awesome iced, even without sugar.
