I love this tea. I love this tea, I love this tea, I love this tea. Every time I have a cup, I fall in love all over again. This is one of my favorite cups of tea, it’s so very juicy and fruity…I didn’t even know what black currant tasted like before this!

I have to ask my steepster family: I can only find this online in 2 lb bags…is there anywhere I can buy this in smaller quantities? I don’t even want to run out!

I fell in love with black currant tea from a deli chain called Jason’s Deli. They offered an amazing iced black currant tea, real full on the mouth. Thankfully, I found a replacement! The tea is lush in black currant flavor. It tastes real, not artificial. I have only had it iced. It’s truly an uplifting tea, made with assam. I am a fan, and I will be buying this tea up!

This one is growing on me more with each sip. Decent fruit flavor (but could be a little fruitier for my tastes). Has a very malty, almost creamy flavor. Doesn’t need any milk added. Prepared with lots of stevia, I like my fruit teas pretty sweet.

’Here’s Hoping’ traveling teabox Round #2 // Tea #6
Steep #1 // just boiled // 3 min
I had to try this one with such a high rating! I really don’t think black currant is for me though. This isn’t a bad flavor, but it’s pretty light anyway, both the flavor and the black tea itself. I think there was one blackberry leaf in the infuser and it made itself known in the cup anyway! Not too much else to say…

Whoa do I have to get moving with this teabox if I want to mail it in a week. so many teas to try! Basically if I want to try it, and there is only a teaspoon left, I’m taking it out for later. Trying the teas with more than one teaspoon now!

Eh, this is okay. I’m having it unsweetened and it is a tiny bit tart, a little floral and fruity. It tastes like what I would expect from a currant, the tea base seems pretty mellow. It just isn’t captivating me. I think I may try cold brewing the rest of this sample from Moraiwe (thank you btw) in the fridge. I can see it being really delicious that way.

The best black currant tea I had was in New Zealand by twinings but it was somehow different down there. The only one Ive found comparable up here is by harney and sons

Dustin

How strange! So same tea, different location? That reminds me of Dr. Pepper. It tastes different in Texas (where it originated) than it does in any other state that I have had it. It is a little heavier and richer here and I think the other stuff is made at a non Texas location. I wonder if that is the same issue for that tea. Made in different places effecting the taste.

In Texas we have Dublin Dr Pepper which is made in Dublin,Texas and they use came sugar instead of the High Fructose Corn Syrup

From the Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box #2

Tea of the morning. Black currant is one of those flavors that I think I won’t enjoy, but then I try it and really like it. Then, after a few months, I think I don’t like it again. What’s up with that?

Anyway, I like this tea. It has a wonderful sweet/tart flavor, and I find it very comforting. We’re having a cold and rainy day here today, and being curled up with a mug of this tea and a good book sounds like heaven.

Jealous of the home with book aspect of your day!

It was just wishful thinking. I spent my morning at the doctor’s office with my son. Poor kid has a sinus infection. :(

This makes a nice iced tea. Not knowing what black currant tasted like, I thought this reminded me of Republic of Tea Blackberry Sage that I would always drink Iced at work 2 years ago. After pondering about the familiar taste and smell, I remembered at work we also carry RoT Black Currant Cardamom Green Rooibos, so I guess I do have an idea of what black currant taste like.

Each time I’ve tried it I drink it so fast I forget I drank it, all I remember is of course this taste better than RoT’s I’m comparing it to. Thank you moraiwe I’m glad to have another iced black tea option.
