I found this tea to be exactly what it says on the tin- creamy and super caramel taste. I added a tsp of rock sugar to the pot and it came out extremely rich- I feel like I’m eating a cake when I drink this! The rooibos keeps all that sweetness from being overpowering and gives the tea it’s lovely red shade. A good dessert tea.

I just steeped a sample of Creme Caramel that I picked up yesterday. It smells good…This is the first roibos I acctually enjoyed! Not too woody like many of the others…again, this would be a dessert tea for me and I think that I have to be in the right mood for it but I definetely do enjoy it. Maybe not permanent collection worthy but I would pick some up occasionally to sip a cup or two.

I haven’t been a huge fan of rooibos, but I do like the fact that it’s caffiene free so I can drink it in the evenings. So I picked up a few dessert blends in the hopes that it would grow on me and satisfy my notorious after-dinner sweet tooth (I figured buying tea was cheaper and more pleasant than going to the dentist. It just made too much sense).

This smells of caramel and vanilla; the rooibos is barely detectable which is a plus in my book. It’s got a smooth caramel flavor without being too sweet, and the rooibos doesn’t have that strong woodiness as it sometimes does. I was so excited that I liked this, that I decided to get a little wild and added a little agave and soymilk to the second cup just to see what would happen. Wow. It tastes like a liquid Werthers candy. This one’s a keeper.

So personally I am not super huge on Rooibos or Herbal blends, I will admit I have a problem…I am addicted to trace amounts of caffeine! So it is really hard for me to brew up a cup of decaffeinated anything, unless of course it is Mint Chocolate Rooibos! But I felt a need to get more decaf tea’s as I think late night tea drinking may be contributing to my recent poor sleeping. Enter the Rooibos!

My collection of Rooibos is as follows Oh Canada!, Creme Brulee, Mint Chocolate and now Creme Caramel. I haven’t even tried Creme Brulee yet and I have had it for almost two months now I think! Goes to show you my Rooibos consumption is low, my tin of Oh Canada is 6 months old and almost still full! So as an impulse buy I added Creme Caramel to the collection, albeit for now only a small 26g ‘sampler’ bag as I call them

Dry it has an amazingly sweet caramel smell, there is little bits of caramel amongst the red rooibos pieces. I don’t get that cheap candy caramel smell from it either this smells like creamy smooth velvety caramel. Once steeped it takes on a nice dark redish rooibos color and it still has that exact same caramel aroma, smell like it should be a calorie laden dessert!

It has that velvety smooth caramel taste that I was smelling, and is quite sweet. The flavor lingers around for a while, which is nice seeing it is such a sweet and pleasing taste I don’t think anyone can complain. Might even go good with a splash of milk, oh better yet it would probably make an extremely delicious latte. Certainly one I will probably grab a larger supply of for the practically non existent decaf collection of mine.

My feelings are kind of mixed on this tea. It has a naturally smooth, milky quality and the perfect amount of sweetness. However, as far as flavour goes it was kind of bland. I was definitely expecting a more voluminous caramel component. If you’re looking for a rich desert tea, this tea isn’t for you; however, as a simple and comforting sweet tea this is great!

I got this tea because I love both the Birthday Cake tea and Green and Fruity from DT and I saw all of the great reviews here. I found that after several tries, with milk, and without. With sugar and without. Cooler and hotter. I find after several tries, I don’t find the taste combination appealing. It does have a caramel after-taste, but the Rooibos taste is strongly unappealing. It also tastes as though there is something missing. I actually tried adding a small amount of salt at one point, but that was not the missing ingredient.

I went to my local DT and they said that it was because the teas I prefer have Green Rooibos, and this one is Red Rooibos, and the two are quite different. So live and learn! I guess I will give this one away to a friend.

I’m happy that a friend gave me some of this tea because I would not want to pay for this.
After tasting different rooibos tea, i just realised i’m not much of a fan of rooibos in general …the woodsy sent and taste are not my thing at all.

So, crème caramel roobois…. It do not taste caramel enough for my taste (and for my expectations) The rooibos taste is really empowering.
I’ve added a splash of milk and a little bit of sugar so I get a bit more of that caramel taste that I wanted so much from this tea .

I don’t hate it but its not my thing i guess …

Green rooibos taste better in my opinion.I usually don’t like red rooibos tea because of it’s strong flavor empowering all the other flavor and having a kind of weird after taste but green rooibos definetly grow on me.

I’m normally not a fan of rooibos – I find it too dry – but since it was reinvented as a sweet flavour for this tea, I thought I’d give it a try. Well, it still had that warm, hay-like rooibos flavour, but there was a nice creamy taste to offset it. Not too bad, but I don’t think I’d drink it again just on its own.

I tried it again later, with milk this time. I think it improved the flavour, but diluted it too much. Maybe there’s a way to add milk and then concentrate it? I dunno. I guess I’ll stick to my green and black teas for now.

Uniquity

Compared to tea proper, rooibos does have a rather ‘thin’ taste…I always expect caramel ones to be richer and fill it out a bit. I do like rooibos though..

I’ve always thought rooibos tastes a bit like the smell of hay. You’re right though; the caramel does help this one. If you like lighter tasting teas, white tea is good.

Uniquity

White and I are learning how to tango still. I think in general I like a fuller taste and mouth feel, but that’s rarely reflected in what I drink : )

I normally don’t like rooiboses, probably because I don’t like fruity teas, and most of the time, rooiboses involve some sort of fruit.

Well, I was a bit skeptical to buy any of this, but it was the tea of the day, and I did enjoy it with a bit of agave nectar (the manager was nice enough to give me some of that to go with my tea). I thought “this isn’t so bad. Maybe I’ll buy a small quantity to bring to work”
Now I regret that decision. Not because I don’t like the tea, but because I should have bought more!

It’s lovely! A fantastic tea that goes so well with milk and sugar, it’s like drinking candy. It has a beautiful creamy base to it that I did not expect from a Rooibos. The caramel aroma is strong, but not too sweet.

This morning, I tried mixing it with Cream of Earl Grey and it has resulted in a fantastic tea (a recommended mix if you haven’t already tried it). It gives the Cream of Earl Grey a nice hit of caramel that jives really well with the bergamot and vanilla. Of course, the milk and sugar really pull the entire package together even better.

I’m slowly enjoying my large mug and I can’t wait to drink another mug of it on its own again. It’s great with milk and sweetener, just with sweetener, heck, even without sweetener. I prefer the first option the best, but any way you look at it, this tea is amazing, and a huge surprise to a non-rooibos fan like me.
