Sipdown!

Had this tea like two months ago and I hated it so much.
BUT I USED THE REST OF MY LEAVES AND HAD IT AS A COLD BREW AND IT IS SO MUCH BETTER OKAY.
Just don’t have it hot. It’s like.. it’s too sweet and medicine-y hot, and it’s much more tame as a cold brew :)

Iced 8 min or more

I was a bit wary before drinking this one. The smell of the dry blend was obviously fabulous; but the advertised biscuit taste did not fully appeal to me. I was thinking it might have an artificial cake taste, like those flavored and overly sweet La Laitiere yoghurts.
I finally tried the sample offered by Isaurella this morning.
While taking the first sips, I was actually surprised by the tea base, which was stronger than I expected. Now it’s cooled, I think it’s quite mild, though not too weak.
Let’s now talk about the flavors: the very good news is that they all taste very natural, not something coming out of a bottle. The flowers complement well the sweet almond-marzipan underlying taste, and allow the blend not to seem overly sweet but rather really well-balanced.
Delightful; a perfect morning / late morning tea for my taste.

I am glad you liked it.
It was the very last sample I put in your parcel because I went to DF shop in Le Marais the day before sending it over :)

LaFleurBleue

Thanks very much for that!
Just thinking I can make another teapot of this one puts me in a good mood;)

Je suis très agréablement supris par ce thé.
Un thé noir à la fois fort et doux.
Les senteurs de fleurs et le goût de biscuit rendent ce thé très agréable.
Je commence vraiment à apprécier Dammann

I am very pleasantly surprised by this tea.
A black tea both strong and gentle.
The scents of flowers and the biscuit’s taste make this tea good.
I’m really starting to appreciate Dammann

The dry tea smells like cherries. I used about half the water than I usually do in my David’s mug, hoping for a more concentrated taste and I think I got that. I’m reading the description now because I have no idea what I am tasting. Poppy and peony?! I have never tasted those before! Maybe the cherry I was smelling was the marzipan. This is probably the best DF cup I have gotten so far! Even so, it isn’t a must have, but I would enjoy drinking it again sometime.

Tea mail from ashmanra! The flavor is light to start then lingers a while. This cup is more berry zinger to me than almond cookie but is a good distraction from the commercialism of Black Friday with everyone trying to get attention and sales. I did get some H&S for presents and am working on a Maya shopping cart.
Thanks for sending this my way ashmanra, I’m not sure I’ve ever tried Damian Freres!

Flavors: Almond, Berries

You are very welcome!

I’ve sampled this one courtesy of ashmanra, too. Love it!

Ok, everything I previously said about this tea, I take it all back.

Maybe, this new development is because I gave the bag of leaf a good shake. Perhaps because I almost doubled the amount of leaf I used. Perhaps because today I am drinking it with organic milk. Maybe all these factors have nudged this cup into becoming something completely new and magnificent.

This cup is all bright tart raspberry and marzipan cookie on a punchy black base.

Just wow.

ashmanra

Oh good! I think this is one of the first teas that ever “knocked my socks off.” I got it in my first ever tea swap, sent by teaequalsbliss. My daughter saw my tasting note and bought some for me at the very next holiday.

Sweet! It is lovely to find that the issue was user error rather than the tea itself. Now, if I can only find the way to save Boston…

Like the other DF tea I tried, I find the flavoring here to be too mild for me. It tastes lightly of sour cherry, which is pleasant, but it’s just such a little hint of flavor. The cup mostly tastes like absolutely nothing. What I’m tasting isn’t even right. Oh well, I don’t want to bother trying this one again.

Courtney

Such a shame! I love this one. :)

AJRimmer

Yeah, I think I must not be able to appreciate the mild flavors since I’m used to stronger flavoring.

Cameron B.

This one is very beloved, but I don’t get it either for some reason. Ha ha…

Courtney

That’s fair! I think a lot of stronger flavoured things are too much for me, so it’s great there are so many different teas for different tastes!

ashmanra

This was one of the first teas I tried when I began drinking loose leaf, and one of the first that ever absolutely knocked my socks off. I haven’t had it in years so I don’t know if I would feel the same.

I’m having a wee celebratory cuppa tonight as I ordered more of this tea! I love the delicate flavouring that DF has in all their teas. The raspberry here is just like fresh raspberries, which brings back lovely memories of home. We used to pick fresh raspberries off the bushes in the summer and the berries would be hot from the sun and just perfection to eat right there. This tea reminds me of that and what better tea to enjoy than one that brings up joyful memories?

Lexa loved our B&B advent adventure so much this month that she asked if I could find an advent still available for her birthday month, since her birthday falls late in the month. Lo and behold, DF still had their advent available! So I placed an order for two of those and then this delicious tea and two new teas. Yay! Plus, Jessi went in on the order with me, so I’ll get to try the ones she’s ordered as well. :)

That’s so fun! I’m glad you found an advent available still :)

Courtney

Me too! I was a bit in shock and even emailed them to be sure, but I’m so happy it worked out. :)

Notes of almond, marzipan, and and rich red fruits. Really enjoying this on this cold, windy morning. This tea is making me extremely excited to start the DF advent calendar.

Flavors: Almond, Berries, Marzipan, Red Fruits

I had to re-read my tasting note for this tea. I can imagine it that weather it can be enjoyable :).
