Blah I made the mistake of using a nasal spray before drinking this, so of course all its nasty artificial sweeteners are stuck in my throat and this will probably taste funny.

But that won’t be a problem because walnuts are apparently right up there with almonds in the bad flavoring department for me. While the sweetness I’m now trapped with actually makes it good, the walnut aftertaste is just awful. And even if I just keep the tea on my tongue, I can’t stand how it tastes, which is purely of walnuts. It tastes like nothing but walnut until I do actually drink it, then maybe I guess I get banana.

But ugh, nuts in tea, why can’t I get along with more of you? Eating you is no problem but the minute you’re infused in a beverage we’re not friends.

I’ll try it again, and I’ll steep it for less time too. Maybe that will help, but I can definitely tell it’s the nut flavor imparting a bitterness rather than the tea itself.

Thanks, Will Work For Tea!

thank you again, Amanda, for the lovely package of teas. Of anything, I’d love to try more teas with walnuts in them (The 52Teas Date Nut Muffin is a particular favorite.) I read recently that the walnuts in a blend might get old earlier than usual in a tea. So I thought I would try this one asap. Sadly, the walnuts are a bit bitter. Oddly enough, I like it anyway (maybe that’s just the walnut fan talking). I don’t know if it is the walnuts that are a bit salty. The black tea base isn’t too strong and I barely tasted any banana. (The flowers were a nice accent though… and the mix itself looks like it has a ton of bananas and walnuts.) I probably would have loved this when it was just blended. I appreciate being able to try it anyway. I’ll still be on the lookout for other walnut blends, but I will know to drink them quicker from now on!

Also, snow bunny! Here is hoping starting on April 7th we have seen the last of the snow for the year! I think it is supposed to be in the 70s all week!

After a day of putting away the Christmas decorations my husband and I decided to make this tea as a treat for a job well done. I was concerned he wouldn’t enjoy it since it has walnuts in it but sometimes tea doesn’t react the same way as food so I made it anyway. This particular tea happens to be one I received as a sample with my order and boy am I glad. The moment I opened the package the aroma was intoxicating. I only hoped it would translate into the finished product. Once steeped it did translate but not as strong. Still enough to make one delicious cup. My husband didn’t even taste the walnut. He thought there was a strawberry flavor. I didn’t get what he got. I got the flavor of a dense warm slice of banana nut bread. I love banana nut bread. A great cuppa. I suspect I will have to order a larger bag in the future. Thanks for sending me this sample DAVIDsTEA

Clearly it’s not winter considering it’s almost 80°F outside and it’s only 9:00am, but this tea sounded like a good start to my early morning (the baby woke up at 5:30am, ouch).

Opening the sample packet (sent to me by the lovely Bonnie) it smelled of walnuts with a slightly yeasty aroma lingering in the background. Like a good slice of nutty bread. Considering this tea has been likened to banana nut bread, I saw this as a good sign.

The tea once brewed made my kitchen smell like a bakery- nutty, warm, sweet. The tea tasted the same! If banana nut bread were a liquid, it would be this tea.

The tea isn’t bad by any means, but with the strength of the nuts and other flavorings, you lose the tea flavor. And that to me was rather disappointing.

I wanted to like this much more than I did. I love the smell of it. Although I think the walnuts created a bitterness to the tea that made it almost un-drinkable to me. Next go round, I think i will pull some of the walnuts out before I brew, maybe that will help.

My first of the winter collection!
I ran to David’s at lunch and ninjaed the only box. So.. yeah.. I still feel like they hate me. Oh well! :D

This tea is a little light on flavour, but very comforting. It’s a good black base, which makes me think it will hold up extremely well to being latte-ified, which is what I will try next.

The dry smell is very WALNUT! Punch in the face. Walnuts in your- yeah.. strong. I know banana is in there, but it’s hard to smell.

As it steeps, the scent is quite light, and first sip reminded me a bit of Toasted Walnut, but then it sinks into a banana-nut bread… yum. It’s very comforting, but the flavour is not terribly “deep” or inspiring. That said, if you can’t get your hands on 52teas Buttered Banana Bread, this may tide you over until the next reblend n_-

Latte time!

Cold brewed this. Less impressed with it compared to the other teas I’ve tried. The walnut flavor seems to take over everything else. So far I prefer this one hot.

I’ve never really been that impressed with this tea. It sorta gets a bitter walnut taste when steeped, instead of the banana nut muffin taste I imagined. I shared a pot with my mom who enjoys it quite a lot, so I’m letting her keep what I have left.

This does taste quite a bit like walnut banana bread.
I don’t mind this tea, but I am still not the biggest fan of banana in tea. I don’t know why because I really like bananas. I guess maybe it always tastes a little fake to me.
Anyway, back to the tea….it has a slight bitter walnut taste.
Don’t oversteep this or it will be very bitter.
An interesting addition to the winter collection, won’t be too sad when it is gone.

This was one of the Teas of the Day in the store and when I tried it.. well, let’s just say I wasn’t at all planning on getting this before I walked in the store.

Not sure I made it just like they did in store (not steeped as long probably) so I will try steeping it longer next time to make it more flavourful (I dare say, sweet). Usually not a big flavoured tea guy, but I’m starting to think that’s what David’s does best, or at least it’s definitely what they’re known for, eh?

I definitely picked up the walnuts AND bananas in the aroma. I think the tea gives a great base and overall I get a slightly nutty, caramelly flavour, really pleasant but not sickeningly sweet. Very nice!

I’m so glad I decided to get some of this tea this sunday. It was suggested by an employe of DT because there was no CopaBanana anymore (but there is still some since tonight… so all of you copabanana fan, go order some before it’s sold out for real!!! ).

The flavor is kind of mild but just enough for my taste, I can taste the banana at the end of the sip and a little bit of the walnuts ( not that much … I thought it would taste more nutty.. maybe there was not enough walnut piece in my 1.5 spoon of tea?..)

I had a crazy morning at the clinic this morning and was running all over the place so I forgot my tea and steeped it for more than 30 minutes and it was still really good, the black tea was not that bitter and the banana flavor was more powerful).

I just bought 30g of this so I’ll probably order some more soon.

Not rating this quite yet, because I think I did something wrong, I must have. I can taste the banana bread, and it’s quite promising, but then it is overwhelmingly bitter. So bitter it erases the taste of everything else. So I’m going to try a shorter steep with a lower temperature. If I get to the end of this 26 g sample without having a good cup, I will cry.

Day 71 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge. (I’ve got a backlog of about ten days to put my logs in for, I’ll probably get to those tomorrow.)

I was cosplaying Honey-senpai from Ouran High School Host Club for a lecture today (yes, I was doing a lecture in costume. Yes, the costume was relevant. I feel like such a happy dork right now). I hadn’t tried this one yet, and it seemed appropriate, seeing as Honey and bunnies seem to go hand in hand. (I also had a slice of delicious cake. Tee hee!)

This tea has a nice blend of fruity-sweet to it. I’m on my third steep right now and it’s still coming through. The flavour is a little more subtle than I’d like it to be — I will try steeping it a bit longer the next time I have this flavour to see if that will make a difference. But it is a lovely tea, and I’m sad it’s only part of the seasonal collection. (That and Hot Toboggan. Mmmmmm.)

Yum. The tea that first got me into liking steeped bananas! Bought this one on request from my sister (although she didn’t end up trying it before I left after Christmas).

This is one of the teas where I actually don’t really care for the smell of the dry leaf. Although nutty, I find it rather bland and unappetizing. Luckily the tea tastes better than it smells (although the smell becomes more richly nutty when steeped)! Generally I find it to be nutty and smooth with a nice hint of banana – it doesn’t have much banana flavour right now though, as the sample bag I bought appears to now have run out (1 banana chunk in this cup, boo). But it’s still good! I prefer Banana Oolong though, so am ok with this tea not becoming a part of the permanent collection.

Sipdown! Yay! I have a bit of fondness for this tea because it was one of the first I tried, sent to me as a sample package for Christmas from my aunt. I finished that package, not liking it a great deal, but then bought a bit more and changed my mind a bit. This tea has quite a nutty aroma both dry and steeped, although the banana comes out during the infusion, making the aroma quite appealing, to me at least! The flavour is definitely reminiscent of banana walnut bread, as others have mentioned. Unfortunately, today I must have oversteeped the tea and it’s rather unpleasantly bitter :(

I think this is a good tea for nut lovers and those who enjoy flavoured blacks that are neither particularly sweet nor fruity yet don’t taste like a straight tea. Personally, I do prefer blacks with cream, caramel, vanilla (actually… this could taste great with a few of those flavours added! Has Frank ever done a caramel-glazed banana nut bread tea??)

1 tsp for 250mL water @ 100C. Steeped 4 minutes.

(I got the Winter Collection sampler pack for a Christmas gift and am sampling all of it today at work. I enjoyed a pot of Apres Ski, then a cup of Hot Toboggan, which was great this time as I knew to expect apple cider and not green tea. Am now on the Snow Bunny. Alpine Punch, already sampled, is home, waiting for me to toss it out.)

A good body to the tea, which complements the slight nuttiness. I don’t get much banana flavour, just a slight aroma. I love walnuts, so I enjoy the almost-bitter walnut aftertaste. I’d think this one could get bitter fast if steeped beyond 4 minutes. I like it, but I doubt I’ll buy it on my own.

I literally felt so snug drinking this tea… it was perfect for a cold night and I felt warm and comfortable.. the taste isn’t so sweet but I added a tsp of honey and it was much better.. I loved it… I might drink this again.. but I wouldn’t drink it regular though.. just on a cold night..

Jessie

I like it! Definitely banana-nut bread, but for someone who doesn’t like banana flavours it works. I’m also getting a delicious, rich caramel thing going on. I had to leave and didn’t return to this until hours later so I drank most of it cold (which was actually fine), so I’ll have to make more soon.

One of the two teas from the winter collection I was most excited for (the other being the still unavailable Alpine Punch). I steeped Snow Bunny for about 6 minutes in fresh-from-the-kettle water, and I also added a touch of sugar.

First impressions – the dried tea is beautiful, but lacking in smell. I do get the smell of walnut, but not much else. The smell of the brewed tea is also pretty mild, but the subtle note of banana is inviting.

Flavor – really nice! Not an overt “Banana bread!!!” taste, but rather a light black tea with banana and just a hint of walnut.

Lovability – I can see this tea becoming a tradition that will lead to heartache when the winter collection ends. I can see it as my companion whilst wrapping Christmas gifts and after frolicking in the snow. I think it lives up to its DT description, and I would definately suggest you guys try it out!

Myself, at the beginning of the winter tea season, sipping some Snow Bunny:

I can see this tea becoming a tradition that will lead to heartache when the winter collection ends. I can see it as my companion whilst wrapping Christmas gifts and after frolicking in the snow.

Well, the honeymoon is over, it has disappointed me time and time again, and now I’m kicking it to the curb. Finished my 25g bag of Snow Bunny today in a “clean out the tea cupboard” swing. By finished, I mean brewed, got disgusted with the smell, sipped, was disgusted by the taste, threw down the drain, rinsed, did not repeat.

I don’t know what happened with this one. Each time I had it, the banana flavour seemed more fake, the walnuts more overpoweringly bitter, the black tea so bland it faded into none-existence. WHY did I ever think this was good? Goodbye, high rating!

I had my third pot of this tea today, and decided to add milk to it, as well as a bit of sugar – delicious!

This tea was fantastic this morning! In the past, I thought the banana made it taste less smooth, but I think now, that it may have been how I prepared it. This time I steeped it for less time. I also had to use the microwave at work, so the water probably wasn’t quite at boiling. Maybe banana teas do better at lower temperatures for less time? I’ll have to try this with banana dream pie now. Anyway, I could taste more walnut, and like I said, it was a lot smoother on the tongue. Went great with my maple nut oatmeal! It was super foggy this morning and this tea made me feel so cozy!

I’m trying to sipdown more of the teas I have that are just okay. This is one of them. It’s not bad, but it’s not great. Tastes like banana nut, but gets astringent quickly. Now I’m one cup away from a sipdown! So close!

Isn’t it funny how the end of a bag of tea can be yummy or gross? This one was the latter. Super astringent, and I didn’t steep it that long. I ended up dumping the last half of my cup. Nevertheless, I call this a definite sipdown! Yay! Room for new teas!

Some days I really like this tea, other days the smell of it is weird to me. Maybe it’s a fake banana smell, not sure.

It’s very nutty but if I didn’t know there was supposed to be banana in it, I’m not sure I’d be able to name the other flavor in this tea.
