Drank this last night but was too busy cursing studying to write a note. This was goooood, I wasn’t sure I’d like this because the caramel candy apple tea gave me a weird note from the apple peels. Della Terra did send me a new sample of that but I have no idea where it is :( Tea problems.

Anyway this does taste very much like apple pie. This one has that pie crust flavor that Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie doesn’t have. The almond does it I guess? I didn’t even realize this had almond in it until now. Definitely doesn’t taste like almond.

The apple and cinnamon definitely tastes a lot like the apples in pie, I still have a piece of pie from Thanksgiving that I made. My fridge is always freezing because I don’t understand it, so I hope it’s still good thanks to that…this tea made me want it later today. It tastes exactly like it, with the nice addition of black tea. The base tea isn’t too strong though, so it almost is reminiscent of apple cider too.

I wish I hadn’t gotten just a try me size of this now!

i had this love hate relationship with DavidsTea’s Apple Pie tea – I had one cup out of a 50g bag that tasted right. After that.. not so great. I’m hoping this Della Terra Teas Apple pie will work!

DRY LEAF: lots of chunks of apple! My kitchen smells like coffee, there was a huge incident last night involving an exploding french press. Finally my roommates disgusting coffee making skills caught up to them (they use 50% coffee, and top the press up with hot water to make this pure black sludge)

STEEPED: Nice apple pie smell, crust and spices in all!

TASTE: The spices in this are spot on – I finally noticed a trend in Della Terra doing really good in the spice department. Natural apple flavor comes out, but more of a fresh apple on some sips to me. Pie crust after taste. The black tea is present and adds some good depth. The black tea also is not bitter.
I think this tea could use a bit of rock sugar, but I’m too lazy to go downstairs to get some, plus my legs are sore from brazilian jiu jitsu. Aww screw it, I need to take out my laundry anyways..
Sweetened, the apple comes out more and I think I like both ways. So if you are the type who adds sweetener, this tea is good!

COMMENTS: Much better than DavidsTeas! The spices are perfect and the tea is yummy pushing me to drink more.
I’ve had Della Terra’s Candy Apple tea and this Apple Pie tea is much better with the flavoring and lack of apple skin taste.

evil plans? I’m thinking back to I think Starbucks had an apple cider that was caramel sauce and whipped cream on it. Apple Pie tea latte with whipped cream and caramel? MUUUAHAHHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Sip down!

I didn’t know I had like 2teaspoons left! So much for my hot cup of apple pie latte with whipped cream, I just made this as a regular cup of tea!
Booo! might have to buy this one again!

Mmm, I added sugar and a cinnamon stick to a pot of this apple pie tea, very good! So nice to have tea, I only had 1 pot yesterday since the power was out most of the day.

I got a serving left of this tea – I really need to make that latte with caramel with the last of it!

My second pot of tea today to help aid my completion of Bioshock Infinite. Apple tea in general is something I have a love/hate relationship with. It’s hard to find an apple tea that is just right without being too sweet or artificial. Plus I have to be in the right frame of mind to drink it too.

In raw form this blend does actually smell like apple pie. It’s a sweet apple with a toasted bread/crust aroma that reminds me of both apple pie and fruit loaf cake.

Once steeped the tea is dark mahogany in colour and a dark, spicy apple scent.

Flavours are delicate with a hint of a spicy after taste. The apple is clean, sweet and juicy with the almond giving the blend a sort of creaminess but keeping it light. A lot of the baked smell has gone since it’s steeped and it’s also not really there in flavour either so it’s more of the inside if the apple pie.

As far as apple tea goes for me this is a tasty spiced apple tea but lacks the baked goodness it’s raw scent offers. At least for me anyway.

Big thanks to Momo for this glorious sample of Classic Apple Pie from Della Terra Teas!!! This sample came at the perfect time. I am so stressed out from wedding stuff!!!! I went to try on my wedding dress today. It was supposed to be 100% done, no more alterations, pack it up and let’s go get married! Instead, I put it on and it’s soooo tight on my back. Uncomfortably tight. Like my back is squishing out over the dress in a very non-pretty way. And it’s looser in the waist…wtf happened?!

I went for lunch for 2 hours while they did some more alterations: letting out the back and taking in the waist. I mean, does anyone else find that weird? How could my back get bigger while my waist gets smaller? I’ve been working out like a fiend, so the only thing I can think of is that my back muscles must be larger. I mean, they really don’t look larger and I still can’t do a single pull up despite all my efforts. I don’t know. I called my mom freaking out and she just laughed because apparently she had the exact same thing happen to her a week before she married my dad. They had to let out the top of her dress and take it in at the waist. So, I guess like mother like daughter. It’s still bizarre though.

Anyway, I tried on the dress two hours later and it’s definitely better. I was so stressed though that I don’t think I really looked at myself. I just feel like there’s still so many things I would change about the dress, but we’re out of time. Honestly, I probably won’t feel good about it until it’s my wedding day and the dress fits and I’m married and it’s all over.

Okay, that was a really long rant. ON TO THE TEA!!!

This was exactly what I needed right now. Apple pie is total comfort food. It’s one of my favorite foods and I wait for it every year (we usually have it at either Thanksgiving or Christmas, both if I get lucky). I added Truvia and a splash of unsweetened almond milk. YUM! This tea is amazing! The black base is fairly quiet and non-descript. It’s the perfect backdrop for the other flavors I think. The spices are low key and not in-your-face or overdone. There’s a sweetness like cinnamon filling drizzled with caramel sauce. And then there’s the apple of course. Juicy, naturally sweet apple. Mmmm! This is delicious! Oh man, I’m going to go make another cup right away. There’s no way one cup is enough. Thank goodness for this tea and thank goodness for Momo!!! You’re a lifesaver!

anways, rad.

oh, also Joe Biden is on campus today. but not for a public event. so really he’s just here to be kinda bad-ass and shut down lots of streets to traffic. yo joe!

Woaaahhhhhh this one’s bitter/astringent. I taste pie flavours, and apple, but this is definitely overleafed/oversteeped. I don’t think I’ll be particularly keen on it even when steeped properly though… It does taste like apple pie, but in retrospect, I’m not sure I want a tea that tastes like apple pie! Also, I’m getting some play-doughy flavours that are not so pleasant (strange, I usually only get them in flavoured whites).

Ah well. I’ll give it another shot later!

The smell of this makes me think I’d better save drinking it for lazy days. Mostly because all I want to do is crawl under a blanket with a mug of this and a book. It is so comforting and homey!

Steep notes: 2 tsp. leaf to 14 oz. water, 2 oz. milk. No sweetener.

The base in this tea peeks out more than in S’mores or Eight Candles. It also is a smidge astringent, and the milk didn’t really help smooth it out much. I’m wondering if that might also be a slight bitterness from the apple peel?

Eh – I think this one needs a little sweetener to help bring out its flavors a little more. That or a little longer steeping, which I’ll try next time, too. The smell is amazing – and if I can get that smell to turn into taste, then this will be another reorder, too.

Yay for wonderful tea!

I was in the mood for a latte tonight and thought this one would work well.

Steep notes: 2 tsp. leaf, 6 oz. water, 6 oz. milk, no additives.

The smell of the dry leaf is probably one of my favorite things about this tea – it is fresh baked apple pie, straight from the oven – spices, fruit, crust and all.

I think I could have gone a bit longer on the steep time for this, as the flavor isn’t as strong as I’d like. Mostly spices right now as it is still hot from the stovetop.

Oh, wait – as it cools I’m getting more of the apple-spice combo. The crust notes are mostly in the smell, and occasionally in the aftertaste. In latte form this has a really nice body to it. The milk also probably takes away that hint of astringence I noticed the first time.

Bumping this up a few points for sure…this one’s a keeper!

I love that the dry leaf smells warm – like cinnamon apples steaming inside a freshly baked crust.

But I think that the dried apple bits that are in the dry leaf almost have a hibiscus effect here – they make the tea very tart even at the 3 minute mark. It’s a balancing act though because I like the strength of the base at 3 minutes – just not the extra astringence from the fruit. In other words, I need sugar to help bring the two flavors together.

Once the sugar gets added it is perfect – apple cider-esque with a cinnamon pastry feel on the end. I love apple pie, and this is a great way to have it without going through the prep work of the real thing. Yay for instant gratification!

The name doesn’t lie! This is definitely apple pie! A nice sweet apple, doesn’t taste artificial at all, with some cinnamon. I think Della Terra uses different apple flavorings for their apple teas. This is the one I like better, that I think is also in the apple cinnamon yogurt rooibos that I love. The black tea base is perfect for these flavors, not too strong. I think there is also a slight bakey pastry flavor (maybe from the almonds?) but I might be imagining that, since the apple pie filling portion of this tea is so spot on! Another win for Della Terra!

Back log from Friday.

I over steeped this a bit.

Although I got a great apple taste, there was a bunch of astringency, and not really any pie taste.

Must try again!

Omnomonom. This is my favorite Della Terra tea and the one that I have been waiting for as far as apple teas are concerned. Finished up my packet today, and will look at getting a larger pouch in the future. I like it best with some sweetener and milk. It makes a heavenly latte.

You know what? I don’t love this tea. But that’s ok because I absolutely ADORE a bunch of Della Terra’s other teas. I just had to try this one. I brought it to work with me today to throw into a swap and decided to make a cup and I’m deciding I’d rather just swap it.

Thanks to Della Terra Teas for this free sample! I won it in a contest! It was so exciting! Now on to the tea.

The first time I made this tea, I skimped on the amount of tea I steeped. I immediately regretted it, for the flavor was just not strong enough. I knew it would be much better if I added more leaves, but of course, I was running late to class so I did not have time to fix it.

I finally had time to try this tea again steeping a little more tea. IT IS DELICIOUS!! This tea tastes like you are actually eating a slice of apple pie. I added a little bit of honey to the tea, and it definitely helped it taste even more like pie! Now usually I am not a huge fan of apple flavored teas, but Della Terra definitely did a good job with this one! I love it!

This is another one of those teas that smells like Autumn. I do so like the apples and cinnamon. The flavour is a nice blend of apples and spices. Another good dessert tea.

Had an awesome BBQ party today! Since we didn’t have any desserts, I’m indulging in some tea now to make up for it.

The dry tea has a cinnamon smell, and you can see little bits of dried apples and raisins.
The brew is the typical black tea color, smells like apples and cinnamon, but I’m not associating it to apple pie. The tea tastes wonderfully like apples, with just a hint of the spices, not sweet but leaning more towards savory.

Nice tea, will be trying this sweetened someday to see if it gives off a more apple pie taste.

Made this tea getting ready for work and looking for something a bit sweet to get me moving. The smell of it is great, truely appley, but the smell of almonds from the almond slices was there too. I was concerned that there might be a lack of ‘pie’-ness to it because crust as a liquid didn’t jive in my head. After one glass both my husband and I were impressed. I’m on my third cup from the same leaves now and I’m in LOVE. When resteeped it becomes so much lighter the it originally is, since its a black tea. I would willingly buy this again, but luckily I’ve got a big bag of it. Great choice for an item in my mystery box.

I was rather surprised by this tea. Upon opening the bag it came in, the scent was very strong (and honestly, it smelled more like a Yankee Candle smell than a tea smell). But, surprisingly, when I brewed it up, I found it unexpectedly light in flavor. To be honest, I didn’t get much apple or cinnamon flavor at all; the strongest flavor I got was the almonds. I think I ought to try it again, because I still have trouble believing that a tea that has this strong a scent could have so little flavor. So, consider this review a first draft! :-)
