I’m a day late on posting the Tenth Day of Christmas tea … but oh well! Yesterday was a very busy day for me, and I wasn’t on the computer very much (we celebrated our holiday yesterday since my oldest daughter wasn’t able to visit either today or tomorrow).

On the Tenth Day of Christmas, Della Terra Teas sent me this tea!

I really REALLY like this interpretation of the candy cane … I love the chocolate addition … it adds such a delicious dimension to the cup. Oh, ok, sure, it does interfere with the peppermint just a wee bit, and makes it taste maybe just a little less like a candy cane in the traditional sense, but, as for this chocoholic, I’ll take a chocolate dipped candy cane over the tradional candy cane any day!

YUM!

Figured I should have this this morning. I was trying to convince my brother last night to have some since the whole wisdom teeth thing has ruined food for a couple days. We got Italian last night and he had to wait for chicken broth and noodles to cook and went around smelling everyone’s dish LOL So last night he was “I want something sweet” and I’m offering him this, a couple other DTT ones I brought, a couple herbals after he said “I don’t think I like tea” and it never worked.

Oh well, he’s missing out cause this made for a great breakfast.

I do like Adagio’s Candy Cane better because it’s more like a straight candy cane. But the addition of chocolate in here is pretty awesome. Back in the day I used to like the chocolate peppermint candy canes but then one year they just started tasting like fake chocolate to me. So this reminds me of them, but way better.

I drank an entire 16 oz mug in no time. It’s not as heavily mint/chocolate as Swiss Mountain, which can taste like mint chocolate frosting amazingness, but the black base is more prominent and it’s a lot lighter, and definitely candylike instead. No need to add anything!

I really enjoyed this cuppa. It’s refreshing and kinda fun too. I taste candy cane and a hint of chocolate and vanilla. Wish this was a permanent one but I’m guessing it’s seasonal? Regardless, it was fun and delish! :)

Still working on my sample-sized bag of this. It really does remind me of these amazing candy cane cookies one of my coworkers from my JCPenney retail days used to make. (Another coworker called them…“orgasmic” LOL) Not sure that I would use that term to describe this tea, but it’s pretty delish anyways!

I overstepped this….and it’s still not overly astringent. I wish it was a bit more flavourful..or intense I guess. Have a few of their minty blends so we’ll see how things go with the others.

Big fan of having a tea in a drawer here at work now. I love being able to grab an afternoon tea and take that 5 mins away from my desk.

While i’m still not a fan of the candy and extra crap DT puts in their teas, this is a decent tea. I’m also a little surprised that i didnt’ rate this one back when i first have it. I suppose there’s no harm done though since i’d be upping the rating a little based on my previous comments. I wish there was a touch more vanilla in this to off sent the mint but it’s a reasonable cup of tea for this afternoon.

SIPDOWN!

Had the last of this in the afternoon today at work. I think this tea is growing on me – it’s a really nice blend of vanilla and mint, without going to the extreme with either. It reminds me of another tea though, so i’ll have to see if i can figure that out before i finish off this cup :)

I just had Santa’s Secret yesterday from DavidsTea, but that wasn’t enough peppermint for me. I thought I’d have this one so I can try and compare them.

It seems to me that the ingredients are near identical, except Candy Cane has chocolate and possibly more vanilla, while Santa’s Secret has more mint!

I think this tea is a little weaker than SS, but it still has some nice flavours. I wouldn’t associate chocolate with candy canes, but as a Christmas tea it works! Each sip starts with the base black tea, then makes way for the chocolate before I’m actually hit with a bit of mint. It’s extra nice if you hold it by your nose, while you curl up with a book.

I’m still not sure which I like better, which means I’ll just have to brew both at once and compare!

I wish we could add tags to our cupboard! It’d be great to add “christmas”, “core collection” or “pawn off on someone else” to our teas. :)

This is my third cup for today. I didn’t log the other two kinds because they were disappointing. It was a bad day for tea. Or foe tea as my autocorrect suggested. :)

Just dumped this because the chocolate was too thin and gross. :(
Will lower the rating bc it’s too inconsistent for me.

I haven’t been on very much over this weekend due to a few family issues, nothing serious just a lot of negativity surrounding my husband. We were supposed to be decorating the house today for Christmas to start feeling the spirit but that hasn’t happened. Since it’s such a shame the house is the same and I’m watching Christmas episodes on tv I thought I may as well drink Christmassy.

I chose the right choice with this tea, I opened it up and took a sniff and smiled and closed my eyes in delight. It smells like creamy vanilla peppermint with a chocolate base. Delicious! My husband saw me sniffing and came to see what the fuss was about and even he said he wants one.

Tasting without milk/creamer or sweetener. Wow it’s simply amazing! Just as it smells, smooth and refreshing peppermint with creamy and fresh. It tastes like a candy cane but with more layers, not just the peppermint. The chocolate is more in the fragrance than taste as is the black tea but it gives more depth in flavour without much of the flavour. It’s so delicious!

This is just what I need right now. Christmas in a mug.

Backlogging.

There are holiday teas that hit you in the face with flavor. Kinda like opening a door and having a room full of people shout Merry Christmas at you. It’ll get your blood pumping, but there’s only so many times you want that to happen during one holiday season. This is not that tea.

This tea is more like walking in the door to your favorite relative’s house, having him/her give you a hug, and say – not shout – Merry Christmas. You still feel all happy and festive inside without also feeling overwhelmed. I guess what I’m saying is that sometimes less is more, and in this instance Della Terra did less the right way.

The tea – The dry tea is adorable with the little candy canes poking out here and there. So cute! Once brewed the liquid is lighter than I expected given the three minute steep, but it smells great. All mint and vanilla, but it’s light… soft. I like it. The mint is there, but not in your face. The vanilla gives the cup a creamy dreamy taste. And the base tea is really good. I love being able to taste the tea itself! It’s smooth and lends itself well to the vanilla flavor. Lovely.

This just might be my choice for a Christmas morning cup of tea.

This is a great vanilla mint tea. Every time I have a cup I have a moment when I think, " Oh yeah… this really is that good." Love that. What I don’t love is that my bag is starting to look empty. I’m going to miss this tea when it’s gone.

I have really enjoyed this tea. Della Terra makes a delicious vanilla mint, and I think their base tea works especially well with this one. This is a tea I can drink anytime of day and have always liked. That said, I was sorta happy to drink the last of this today. Spring is in the air here, and I’m ready to not have mini candy canes, no matter how cute they are, floating in my tea basket. I will, however, be looking for this one next fall/winter!

Vanilla and mint, mmmmmmm. This is just what I need this morning. Most holiday teas I try to finish before the end of February, (when my spring fever usually kicks in full force) but this one is so nice that I know I’ll be sad to see it go.

Right now I’m going to curl up on the couch and watch my kitty freak out at the snow we got last night. She keeps running from window to window trying to figure out what is going on. It’s incredibly amusing. :)

This came in a box of things from Azzrian awhile back. I have not been in the mood for mint lately, which is why I haven’t had it yet. My moods can really vary when it comes to tea! Maybe I like mint better in warmer months. Candy Cane was better than I expected. The mint was not overwhelming-maybe the chocolate toned it down? This was pretty good, even as it cooled down. Glad to have the chance to try it, thanks to Azzrian’s generosity.

It’s a bit too late for black tea, but I don’t really care. This is sweet and minty. There is a little chocolate flavour, but not much.

I received a sample of this with an order I placed. Since I don’t usually enjoy peppermint, I would never have chosen it myself. With that said, I am pleasantly surprised at this delicious winter treat. The peppermint flavor is subtle, blended deliciously with cocoa. This is so yummy, it may replace hot cocoa for me. Need a little peppermint pick-me-up this morning.

This is fabulous, my first love of tea was peppermint so I was excited to try this out. It’s not a typical peppermint, it is definitely candy like, a vanilly sweetness almost. I will be enjoying plenty of this while the snow falls here in the mountains tomorrow. This is a perfect holiday blend, all of Della Terra’s teas lack the bitterness that can steer me away from black tea, they are all smooth and easy and highly enjoyable to drink!

I brewed up a pot of this last night while I watched the Grinch with my kitten on the couch by the lit tree :) It was a great accompaniment to the movie and reminded me of being a little kid because my dad used to make me peppermint tea. The little candy canes in the tea are adorable, I’m such a sucker for the teas that Della Terra puts sprinkles in (LOOOVE Winter Nog).

It’s like a typical herbal mint tea, obviously it has the caffeine of a black tea, but it isn’t bitter and I doubt the average person would taste a difference (I know that none of the Steepsterites are average people… we’re all crazy tea snobs).

The little candy canes redeem what is otherwise a basic black mint tea. Luckily I have a soft spot for mint tea.

I think I have to double the amount of tea I use, or maybe steep it longer. (this seems to be happening with all the teas I’ve tried recently, maybe it’s my stuffy sinuses messing with being able to taste things properly)

This morning, I used 1 tsp to make a cup, steeped it 3 minutes. I barely could taste anything, it kind of tasted like water with a tiny hint of mint and no chocolate flavor. This did shock me a bit, since upon opening the pack I could smell both, the chocolate more so than the mint, but both were there and smelled wonderful.

I’m not going to rate it until I make another cup.
