I wanted to brew something up to throw in my timolino (yes I’m a little strange… I brew tea and then transfer to the timolino rather than use it to brew…) and was looking for something with little to no caffine… This looked like a perfect option.
Upon brewing, a heavy cinnamon scent hit me and I wasn’t too sure anymore… I decided to take a quick sip before transferring to the Timolino just to be in the safe side and unfortunately down the drain it went. I’m not sure if the age of this tea was the issue as it’s got coconut in it and the tea looks like it could be a couple of years old or it’s just the fact that I really, really don’t like it when David’s Tea fills their teas with stevia but unfortunately I just wasn’t a fan which is sad because the ingredients list looks almost perfect for my taste buds (minus the stevia of course).
FINALLY tried this as a tea latte (that only took 8 months). Really glad I did too. This is like vanilla ice cream with a hint of mango at the end. Slight camomile taste, but not detrimental to the flavour. Despite being hot, this has a really nice cooling effect. Really glad that this tea has grown on me during its stay in my cupboard. About enough for one more brew, which I’m rather looking forward to.
Flavors: Creamy, Mango, Vanilla
I don’t know why I was so hard on this tea at first. Had it last night and got a wonderful mix of vanilla icing and juicy mango slices with a light hint of the camomile base. Still not exactly mango lassi, but I can see the resemblance. Absolutely boosting my rating here.
Flavors: Creamy, Mango, Vanilla
Preparation
This was one of my first purchases at David’s Tea. Having a true love for the Indian drink, I just couldn’t resist. Sadly I should have known better, as I’ve never been a fan of camomile. I also ended up buying way more of this than I should have—about 75g compared to my typical 25g if I haven’t tried a tea before.
Despite it’s camomile base, this tea has grown on me as I slowly try to deplete my supply. It’s certainly not a go-to, but if I want a herbal tea that isn’t overpoweringly fruity this is a nice option; which was exactly what I was in the mood for tonight.
The camomile really stands out over everything else. There’s a pleasing hint of vanilla as well. Sadly, the mango doesn’t stand out as much as I would like.
I’m curious to try this one as a latte (which was initially my plan for this evening until I realized there was no milk). I attempted it once but failed to use enough tea. Still plenty of this left so I’m sure I’ll get the chance eventually…
Preparation
Got a to-go cup of this on my way home this afternoon. Of course I foolishly didn’t let this cool down enough and ended up burning my tongue which really impaired my sense of taste.
That being said this is a very nice chocolaty tea—almost like a weak hot chocolate. Definitely picked up on the almonds as well. I suspect this one would be amazing as a latte!
Flavors: Almond, Chocolate
I really like this blend – taste, smell, the lovely pink colour (in some steeps)… I still dislike that herbal teas don’t resteep well :(. After one cup I feel the tension in my body melt away a little bit. Even if it’s not the valerian root and is just a placebo, it works and that is awesome. Waaay more expensive than my Herbaria lemon balm bags but it will be nice to have once in a while to mix it up.
All of those crazy rumours about this tea are true. Don’t let the aroma of juicy berries from the dry leaf entice you. Once steeped, this turns into sugar-free fruity bubblegum with OVER 9000 tons of artificial sweetener gumming up the works. The leaves barely even resembled oolong either. How can you even call this tea?
I have sample of that in the cupboard. I haven’t read too many high rated tea notes on it. I should try it just so I can say I did.:)
Set the bar ridiculously low, Maddy!
And now I’m relieved that I’m not the only one to get bubblegum from this too. Horrible creation, indeed.
This tea is bright and citrusy with a nice ginger burn at the end. Aptly named as well – I am usually buzzing with energy after drinking this. Overall a very pleasant tea which I will absolutely buy again.
I think DavidsTea often gets a bad rap around here for some reason. I find that their teas are consistently delicious – I really don’t understand all the tea snobbery. :\
Flavors: Citrus, Ginger, Lemongrass
Preparation
Now this is what I call a tea. An literal explosion of fruity flavor. With some added rock sugar this tastes like a bowl of fruit loops. Simply sublime.
Flavors: Apple, Cherry, Fruity, Lime
Preparation
Ew. This tea is called mothers little helper because it is supposed to help you fall to sleep but instead it helped me want to vomit . I had to give this a 51 because I technically did finish it. I feel like there was too many flavours, first I would get camomile, then lemon, then mint, (which wasn’t so bad. until then it became lawn shavings. The aftertaste was even worse than the tea itself.. kind of tasted like vegetable / hot and sour soup. This tea is REALLY weird.
Flavors: Chicken Soup, Grass, Lemon, Mint
Preparation
Sipdown! I decided to be marginally adventurous and cold brew the last of this, and what do you know. I think I prefer it this way. The mint was tinglier and more prominent, and the rooibos base didn’t go bananas, which is what I was expecting. Maybe I’ll try cold brewing more rooibos blends in the future, especially when I’m not crazy over them hot.
Yesterday was point redeeming day, and I’m glad that I waited that long because the store I visited happened to just get Ceremonial Matcha in a few days earlier, so I instantly grabbed it as one of my free ones, plus a bunch of 10-20g amounts of others such as this.
Zen’s Chocolate Mint rooibos is my absolute favourite, but due to their semi-sketchy ridiculous sale combined with USD the other month, I didn’t bother ordering and am now looking for a potential replacement. Will this hit the mark?
I can already tell by the smell in the pouch that it won’t be as flavourful. The mint isn’t as in-your-face. With some 2% milk it’s pretty decent. The base is more prevalent in this one, and although I’m normally not a fan of the taste of rooibos, it really isn’t too bad here. The chocolate, on the other hand, is akin to the note in Read My Lips, unsurprisingly, as this appears to contain the same chocolate chips used in that blend.
Overall, I’m not wild over it and am still eyeing Zen’s if I knew exactly what was going on with that company. I have a couple cups worth left so I should try mixing it with Tisano’s Mint Cacao next time to see if that can amp up the chocolate or mint.
Smell is gross and medicinal. I’ve steeped this a few times and a weird impending sense of doom comes over me like, “blech, now I am going to have to drink that”. At first, I thought I liked the juniper. Boy, was I wrong. I’m giving this tea another shot because the taste is slightly better than the aroma but it is one of my least favourite teas from David’s. I actually don’t think I can finish this cup.
And for the record, I do not believe that “detox” teas can help with weight loss or health in the way they’re advertised.
I’m not a fan of green tea unless it’s got citrus notes, which this tea has in spades!! The smell is heavenly if you like earl grey. The second I sipped it, I feel like my pupils turned into little hearts because I loved it so much – the flavour profile is absolutely perfect. Zesty and comforting at once. It might just be that it was the first caffeine I’d had all day at 3 pm, but there was way more of a caffeine kick than I usually get with green teas. Will definitely have to buy more!
A giant blast of peppermint, juniper, and menthol.
Although the tea contains other ingredients like apple pieces, they get totally overwhelmed and I didn’t notice their influence on the resulting cup
Great for the sinuses and throat, but it’s pungency means something I would definitely only drink when sick and needing relief
I used 4.1 grams per 12oz mug
Flavors: Eucalyptus, Menthol, Peppermint
Preparation
I got home tired… From work, from walking in a cool and rainy weather…. Plus hungry and sleepy… Aah…tired! I need to drink tea… Just the thought of sipping green tea while relaxing…makes me feel…happier!
This tea never disappointed me. From the smell to the taste, up to the last drop… Yum! (That’s what my taste buds says, I don’t know with you guys…. :-)) Happy drinking, tea-lovers!
Flavors: Almond, Butter, Caramel, Coconut, Nuts, Nutty

Sipdown! (I’ve vowed to finish off the sweetheart collection this weekend and I’ll reward myself with a visit to DAVID’s on Monday)
This was a very orange-y cup of this. I made enough for two cups, had one, then had the other after a walk so it cooled pretty significantly which really brought out the orange. Cinnamon too, but no chili. I actually forgot there was supposed to be any chili in this until I came to its page. Slight hint of anise too, which I didn’t get before. Overall okay, but nothing special.
Flavors: Anise, Cinnamon, Orange Zest
Preparation
Pleasantly surprised by this one. I’ve been drinking fruitier teas recently and wasn’t 100% sure I wanted something on the spicier side, but I picked right.
Orange note is much stronger than I expected, and it complements the cinnamon nicely. Overall effect is light, sweet, and spicy. Occasionally you’ll hit a little extra kick at the back of your throat from the chili. Overall, much more dynamic than I was expecting.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Orange
Preparation
I love this travel tea mug!! but I just took it out of the cupboard to use it today and it fell apart on me :(( I am so sad because it was great. I can’t even return it now because I bought it a few months back and don’t have the receipt. Clearly i need something sturdier. the netting in the top of the basket fell off because the seal broke. I didnt even drop it, i just took it out of the cupboard and opened it
