Tried this one iced today. As I noticed when my hot cup had cooled down a little, this tea tastes very different cold. I don’t really notice the fruitiness and the taste reminds me of a cross between green tea and camomile. It’s not unpleasant, but having never been a fan of camomile I’m not a huge fan. Definitely prefer this one rather hot which brings out the peach.
Preparation
Last night I visited a friend’s house. I noticed her tea collection and she last me take home a few samples, including this one.
At first sip I get lemon and a light peachy sweetness. It’s fruity and juicy. As the cup cools down the juiciness fades and a taste almost similar to camomile, but not as intense, comes out. Overall I like it, but prefer it before it has a chance to cool down.

Yay! A new medicinal herbal blend from DAVIDs tea with no artificial flavours or hibiscus!
I like this one a lot-I’ve recently discovered how much I like lemon herbal teas and that’s the first flavour in this tea, followed by hints of apple and peppermint. I’m personally not detecting vanilla right now but that’s alright. This tea is supposed to help someone go to sleep but it doesn’t have an y chamomile in it so I can’t see it effecting me too much in that way.
Either way, thank you, David’s, for creating a new herbal blend that I really like (it’s been really few and far in between lately between all the super-fruity, hibiscus, and artificial stuff you’ve been putting out).

I woke up feeling gross this morning, like on the verge of getting sick. And you know how sometimes you get that hollow feeling in your stomach and you’re getting continual mixed signals throughout the day regarding hunger? Like you’re hungry but you’re not? I’m so getting that today, and ended up eating more than usual today and feel horrible for it. Have been so good at restricting lately. Ugh.
DAVIDsTEA’s email advertising their 40% summer sale, including this tea (online only, though, I guess) prompted me to get off my behind and walk over to pick up more of this before it’s gone, plus some others.
With light cream, it’s like Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. I do enjoy it. Not a favourite, but it’s good.
Oh god, I get that stomach thing a lot. Or at least, it feels like my stomach is both sending signals of hunger and bloat at the same time, accompanied by this slight burning sensation. Had a gastroenterologist check things out, but everything looked normal. (Shrug)
I get it once a month without fail, no burning, just the hungry/maybe sick feeling. I then eat everything in the house for about 3 days. Started happening after I hit 40. That’s when your warranty expires, apparently. :)
Yes, I have tried to make people understand that when I get hungry I don’t just feel hungry, but my stomach HURTS and I feel almost a panic to get food to make it stop. And it doesn’t take much – a cracker or two will ease the hurting. But I was told after an upper endoscopy years ago that I show gastritis and at the time had h. pylori, which was treated. I still feel this, though.
Christina, how often do you experience that? I wonder what that’s all about if they’ve done tests and haven’t found anything. :/
Nicole, I’m sure your warranty is far from expiring! But that does remind me of how my TOM has been acting these past couple months once (temporarily) going off BCP’s.
Ashmanra: While I was reading your comment, I automatically thought your case sounded like an ulcer or something, for it to hurt like that, and for food to help the pain subside. But wow, h. pylori. That’s rough. :( I’m sure that might have caused some long-term damage. Do you take medication for it now?
Seems like with me, I only get this hunger/sick-yet-empty-full when I’m about to get a cold/flu or when I’m severely lacking sleep.
The hunger/bloat/pain thing is really unpredictable. I’ve found it flares up somewhat if I have really greasy or acidic food, but it’s not a guarantee. I’ve also found that it strikes me much more often in the winter than in the summer. Oddly enough, when I consulted a naturopath about this, she thought I might have low stomach acid instead of acid reflux, and she recommended that I take some pills that contain HCl and pepsin — and those do seem to help.
When the situation first presented itself I had an abdominal ultrasound done and things looked clear – no problems with liver, kidneys, intestine, etc. Then I had an endoscope to check out my stomach, and there was no sign of ulcers or anything.
I get that hungry but sick feeling when I’m severely lacking sleep as well. I find the best way to get rid of it is eat a smallish quantity of bread (like a bagel or some crackers) and then have a bit of water (if I have the water first it seems to make it worse). It sucks though.
Christina, I never heard of it possibly being a symptom of low stomach acid. That’s nuts! But glad they’re helping.
You’re right, Fay, that tends to help, but it still seems like it doesn’t go away unless you have a bigger meal. Maybe it’s your body’s way of trying to get energy from food when you don’t get an adequate sleep? I also once read that ghrelin levels rise when you’re sleep deprived, and they in turn increases your appetite.
Ooh, coffee tea. My kind of thing. The idea of a coffee-flavoured tea has always been amusing to me. Why not just drink coffee? Because a coffee-flavoured tea can taste so damn good too!
The dry leaf is coffee with heavy cream, kind of like a double-double (which reminds me that I need to get in on Tim Hortons Roll up the Rim before it’s gone again).
I’ve actually had this twice already. The first time I added less leaf and it turned out the best. Delicious iced cappuccino (Tim Hortons-style again, that is!). Then a whisper of cinnamon comes in. With 2% milk, this is smooth and creamy with some hard-to-describe dessert-like note in the background too, kind of like cake. My mind would like to think that it is appropriately coffee cake.
The second round wasn’t as good just because I had a weird amount left that was too little for two more cups, so I dumped the rest into my Nordic mug filter. The liquor was murkier, the coffee stronger, but those other flavours got kind of weird, slightly chemical. So the key is to keep the leaf ratio to a moderate level.
I’m actually tempted to get more sometime. Just maybe 20g or so, like I was thinking with Chocolate Macaroon. But I wouldn’t load up on it and drink it religiously.
I only bought 12g of this tea just to try it. My sample was pretty much all mulberries and coconut flakes and very little white tea, so when I brewed it up I grabbed some white tea and mixed it up so that it would be actual tea. The main flavour of the tea is coconut, and I believe the mulberries add a bit of sweetness as well. It’s a nice taste, but I dunno if I like it with the white tea because it completely masks the taste of it. I would like this better as a herbal tea, especially because adding the white tea into the mix jacks up the price to nearly $12/50grams. To me, this tea isn’t worth the cost and I prefer just a plain white tea instead. However, if you like light tasting coconut tea, this tea is indeed for you.

This is another tea I have had my eye on for months. I bought 10g of it just to try it out.
The brewed tea looks like green tea, but the taste is almost like an oolong. It has sweet notes like ginseng, and therefore reminds me of the long-gone ginseng oolong from DAVIDs. I like it! Once again though, just like guayusa, it is a stimulant so I have to be careful with my caffeine intake with this tea. Overall though It’s one that I may stock up on in the future- especially considering the decent price!

Finishing off this sample from Anlina. This is a very nice yunnan black, lots of aroma and flavour. I’m getting malt, crusty brown bread, something spicy, and that honey sweetness that I associate with Chinese black teas. As it cools I’m getting a bit of acidity or fruitiness. I think I might buy more of this, next time David’s has a sale. :)
I was recommended this tea because I like Buddha’s Blend. She probably suggested it because they both have hibiscus. But they do not taste the same. Unfortunately this one tastes like watermelon and I hate watermelon! Oh well, at least I only bought a very small amount. Moving on.
Flavors: Melon

Today I discovered that this makes a fabulous iced tea— so creamy it reminds me of a spicy, fruity iced chai. Served hot, it became a bit cloying, but iced that strong flavor works. Really works! Husband says upon his first sip— order more from Davids right now— a strong endorsement indeed. :)
I really want to like this tea more than I do. I love the almond smell— perhaps it is the apple flavor that I find cloying. My husband really likes it, he loves strong flavored teas, so I am likely to keep it stocked in the tea cupboard and enjoy trying other noncaffeinted dessert-style teas in the evenings.
Preparation
Just sipped down a 100g tin of this from last Halloween. I’m actually surprised it took me that long to finish it since I’ve burned through this one a lot faster in the past. With that said, still not completely sick of it and I will probably pick up more in the future.
Oh my, I’m trying this as an iced latte for the first time and it’s wonderful. Chocolate coconut truffle with 2% milk. Swoon.
I basically add two Perfect Teaspoons of tea to my new gravity steeper (hence why I have recently started trying the icing method over my usual cold brewing method), add around half a cup of freshly boiled water, let steep for around four minutes (although I let this one go a little longer), then poured over a pint glass full of ice and topped off with 2% milk, maybe around 100ml worth. All in the eyeballing with the water and milk amounts, really.
I know people like to still froth the milk but I don’t care enough.
Wow… when I say iced I just made it with cool water and toss in some ice. I feel so uncivilized now.
Don’t! Up until getting this steeper last week, I just used to lazily cold brew everything in a large jug, and my idea of a latte was just pouring a bunch of cold milk directly from the carton into my mug.
Did you get a DTs gravity steeper? I am on my second one now. They are good products. Though I went off using it a while ago and went to my Libre clear travel mug w screen as a daily go-to.
The last couple of shifts were by far the worst ones that I have had since starting this job, so here I am just sitting at home experiencing slight aftershock and trying to enjoy some peace, quiet, and tea. I have quite a few days off now, which while sucks because my pay cheque won’t be the best, this could not have come at a better time. Ugh.
It’s not even 11am and I’m enjoying a dessert tea before having breakfast, because I can! I’m surprised that after all the Chocolate Macaroon that I’ve gone through, I’m not sick of this one yet. It is sweet but somehow this one works for my tastebuds because it isn’t cloying or the flavours aren’t really artificial either. With whole milk, it’s like drinking a milk chocolate brownie topped with coconut.
Aww thanks! It was just one of those weekends when everything that could go wrong would happen, constant belligerent people, etc.
Sipdown yet again! But it’ll be back in my cupboard soon enough, I’m sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d gone through nearly 300g of this by now. It’s really good with whole milk.
100g of this in a navy tin came home with me yesterday. I figured since I buy this now and again, 20-50g at a time, and probably had at least 150g by now, I might as well get a bunch on sale.
Second cup with milk in the last 24 hours and I’d say I definitely made the right decision. The cacao shells really shine in this particular batch, and luckily, the coconut has never been rancid or weird.
Tins of Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait and Ginger Beer also came home with me. I’ve been running out of tisanes to cold brew so the sale came at a great time. No Redberry Tonic but I’m ok with that, and I think I made the right decision passing up on more Cardamom French Toast and Cranberry Pear (which I got 100g of the other week). But I’m over 50 teas again, so it’s time to take that slow hike back down again. No Bayswater until I hit 40!
I like this one too. And the rest of your purchases.
I caved and bought more of the CFT on sale. Good thing too, because I craved a cup of just that after a particularly hard day.I feel you! I’m in the 30s and want to be in the 20s in my cupboard before buying anymore…we shall see how that goes!
Way to be snagging some of that sweet, sweet CFT, Evol! I’m sorry you had a hard day. I hope it helped.
30s is seriously impressive! And to not allow yourself to get anything until you’re in the 20s? That’s some hardcore determination and discipline.
The convenience of DAVIDsTEA, and the fact that they’re always releasing new blends, has been making it really hard to reach goals.
The 30s is quite a lot for me. I guess everyone has their different “standards”, haha.
I remember just saying recently how I struggle with not buying anymore tea because of DAVIDs temporary blends too. Feb 1 is coming up and we’ll see what the tea of the month is.
You’re right, even having tea in the 30s can be a lot. It all depends on the overall weight, in the end.
Oh geez, TOTM, of course. It never ends!
Exactly! Plus I’m trying to keep most of my collection 6 months old or less. I like variety, but when a tea has been sitting for too long I just get to the point where I’m sick of looking at it or drinking it, lol.
I’ve been using up teas I’m “meh” about at work. Because I’m busy I can’t appreciate really good teas anyways. I have a Ziploc baggie in my purse with a small tin and filters and I only carry one tea around with me at a time so that way I end up having at least a couple grams of that tea every work day. I work 6 days a week so it’s a great system. My “purse tea” right now is actually two teas blended together and I would guess I have 25ish grams left so It’ll probably be used up next week or the following week. It’ll bring my cupboard number to 29, so I’m getting close to my goal ;)!
Sippity-doo-down, AGAIN. I think I’ve gone through upwards of 120g of this by now. It’s sweet but I like it? Especially with light cream, since that balances out the sweetness and brings out the buttery pecan, rich chocolate, and creamy coconut notes even more. This tea was built to be made as a latte. So don’t be surprised if you’ll be seeing more of this in my cupboard in the future.
Sipdown already? Apparently I’ve gone through 54g of this tea in eight days, and I haven’t even been home too much, always out and about so I’m surprised by my own self. I go back to the grand wilderness tomorrow so I’m tempted to pick more up to keep me company, but at the same time, I should continue working on my other teas. Plus, I finally made my first Lupicia order! Hoping it’ll come in before I come back to Edmonton in a couple weeks.
So, creamy coconut, nutty, and chocolatey goodness, should I bring more of you home? Or should I just suck it up, go at least a couple weeks without you whilst I try to sip down other stuff? The former is so tempting, but the latter is ultimately more practical.
Sure, it’s sweet, as it contains little chunks of sugar in it, and I normally don’t care for pre-sweetened tea, or any sweetened tea for that matter, but it somehow works here.
Oh yeah, so despite buying more of this today, this review is actually for the chocolate bar which I had a few weeks ago. I don’t even think you can get it anymore, but it’s no loss, really. The coconut was ultra weak, there was a hint of nuttiness, but overall, it was basically like a plain milk chocolate. I liked it, but would have preferred another Salted Caramel bar.
I haven’t had a proper latte in ever so I decided to partake in one yesterday, grabbing this to keep me company while I started to clean this kitchen for the very last time. I was really excited about it because I loved making this with just plain milk at home, so I figured that DAVIDs fancy preparation will elevate this tea to another level.
Did it? Sadly, not really. I got it with a bit of sweetener and 2% milk, which is the milk I was using when I’d make them at home. Yet, for some reason, this was rather lacklustre. The tea flavour itself seemed a lot weaker, but that is probably to do with how the tea guide prepared it. Plus, the extra sweetener was a little too much. It only covered up the oh so subtle chocolate and coconut notes more rather than enhance them. Once I finish with this damn move, I’m just going to pick up more of the actual tea to enjoy at home. Man, to think how many cups I could have made at home with that $4.50!
My God, moving is the biggest nightmare ever! I keep looking around at all the stuff I have to somehow cram into boxes and all I want to do is take a nap! Holy moly, I’m tired.
It’s too bad about the latte. That must have been enough to make you want to kick the wall.
Hahaha right? I have most of my packing done but I’m at the point where it’s still cluttered because I have odds and ends that really don’t go with anything else so the last couple boxes will be like “junk drawer” boxes.
Too bad we can’t take a break from this stupidity and go for tea together!
I’ve barely started packing! I’m not freaking out yet. A friend is coming tonight to help me pack my books. That will be huge. But I still have all my kitchen stuff, by bedroom stuff and the bathroom stuff. And the rest of the living room.
Really, going for tea with you would be lovely!
Oh man they must have underleafed it! That’s very unfortunate.
I hope your move goes smoothly! Where are ya goin?
I’m sure that’s what happened, Lynne-tea, and I do not doubt you for a second that this makes an amazing latte! I’ll just have to try again at home, finally start using the frother I bought last year haha.
Thanks, and I’m moving back to AB! I’ll be popping in and out of Edmonton from time to time so we should enjoy a spot of tea sometime. :)
ZOMG, I just posted an ad in my building trying to sell my reclining sofa since I need to get rid of it. I put the price as less than half of what I paid even though I only used it for seven months, and it’s like new, so I hope someone will be interested. Don’t want to have to resort to skeezy Craigslist. Fingers crossed.
About this tea. It sure surprised me. Pleasantly so. When I smelled it in the store earlier this year, I wasn’t so impressed. I also thought the chocolate flavouring would go waxy which sometimes happens in DAVIDs blends (like in Love Tea #7 or Red Velvet Cake) but it does not do that at all here.
Added some 2% milk and there is a macaroon resemblance. The coconut is toasty and not soapy nor rancid. The chocolate, on the other hand, is subtle but not waxy or plasticky. Then there is this general cookie-like vibe going on in between. Maybe it’s one that is 20g-worthy every once in a while but I can see getting sick of it if I had it too often.
That is another reason why I was worried about trying it, and actually, it wasn’t as sweet as many of their other blends, or most of Della Terra’s stuff. I’d maybe grab like 10g if you’re wary of that.
I packed this up in the timolino for work. The smell of the leaves is really sweet so I was wondering if I was going to like it at all, but the taste of the tea isn’t crazy sweet. I can definitely taste the apple, but not as much as say, forever nuts. The raspberry leaf is the next dominant flavour which is nice. I still say they should have left out the apple, but then again I like more plainer teas. Overall it’s pretty decent.
