3734 Tasting Notes
another cup this morning, mostly i wanted to be able to compare the assam from bellocq against one of my “staples” It’s nice to not only be able to revisit a favourite but not try to compare against a memory :) I am still a fan of this…there’s something wonderful about how smooth this tea is. Someday maybe a tea will replace it,but so far, it remains a staple :)
sample sipdown! This was sent my way by the lovely fuzzypeachkin and i’m happy that she did. This would have likely been one of my first puchases from Bellocq as i’m always in search of more delicious assams. :)
This one is pretty good. I’m not sure that it ranks high enough to replace tiger assam or 49 but i wouldn’t ever turn my nose up at this one. It’s more what i would rate as an afternoon blend, being not quite as bold as i like with a bit of astringency in the taste. It ends up leaving my mouth a little dry, though i don’t mind that. There’s a nice flavour to this cup and the scent is slightly sweet smelling, though there’s no fruitness to the actual liquor. Overall, a nice introduction to Bellocq! Thanks FuzzyP!
sipdown! I have had a few cups of this now and i am loving it – resteeps quite nicely. I’m sending the remaining cup or so off to Missb to try out which makes me giggle a little since this particular tea will be travelling halfway across the country and back.
My only problem with this tea is the name…i have no idea why but after dark makes me think of mint chocolate..like after eights…so i kept expecting mint. However, there is no mint to be found and this is still deliciously tasty! thanks so much for sending this my way omgsrsly
sipdown! (148) I had this cold brewed over night to see if that helped bring out any of the chili pepper. Strangely, if anything, this has made the brew less interesting to drink. Still tasty but more like a hibiscus, fruity drink than the cranberry orange + a bit of chili the hot brew provided. I’d certainly be open to getting this again, but hot it will remain, and i’ll long for it to be spicier! thanks omgsrsly
sipdown (149) Thankfully I’m staying on top of my teas, though i’ve still got another 27 to drink up at the very least before the last of my orders get here! Good thing being sick hasn’t affected my tastebuds AND i’ve got the weekend to relax and do nothing :)
I tried the last of this cold brew and the final verdict is that i like this much better hot. Though, that being said, if i steeped it hot and let it cool off it might be tasty :) See previous notes, but this is a tasty tea (and green to boot!)
Delicious cup of tea from this morning. I opted to try and come in to work today, which likely isn’t the best idea but i needed to actually talk to a couple of people. At least this weekend’s release is during the day so i can relax and sleep in between testing.
still loving this…need to restock soon!
oh man… speaking of orange creamsicles….i so wish this tea tasted exactly like it smells…but it doesn’t ‘cause it’s chocolate and orange. But man, ditch the chocolate and THIS would be it.
Now…having said that. YES! i am a fan! I have no issues with rooibos so it’s game on for me.. orange and cocoa and soooo good! Glad i picked this one up during my winner’s fauchon splurge :)
I’m not really sure what possessed me to buy an entire tin of a white tea. But i did. I think i was carried away with that whole FAUCHON! at winners! stupidly cheap prices! GO! so now i have a huge tin of this. And i don’t really like white teas…
but this tea? I like it! so ha! I couldn’t drink this everyday but it’s certainly a tasty tea. Creamy vanilla delicious tea with a splash of “wake up! it’s lemon!” :) Yep…i will enjoy this, though it may take me the whole year to drink it.
