Gong Fu Sipdown (290)

I saved 4 grams of this tea to try it in a gaiwan. I am not loving it though. The steps have been astringent and metallic – two things this never was when brewed western style.

Iced Latte Sipdown (291)

This tastes like low quality black tea and flavouring. It reminds me of an adagio blend that doesn’t really taste like much. Happy it was just the one serving and now I can say bye to all the last of my Tea Revv teas.

The “leaf” for this was huge which leads me to think that I underleafed it with my usual 4 perfect spoons in my cold brew bottle. Also leading me to believe that I underleafed this is that it is very subtle. I get some rose and not much else. Next time I will need to add a whole lot more leaf to try to coax out some flavors.

AJRimmer

I considered getting this one, but it seemed really expensive for what it is. It’s too bad it’s not tastier!

Mastress Alita

I have a 20g sampler of this… perhaps I should use the whole sampler up for a cold brew batch? Especially since I planned to use it to make flavored lemonade!

VariaTEA

The blend is quite light and so 6 tsps really didn’t go far.

I like this tea and it’s pregnant lady friendly because it has no hibiscus. I cold brewed it and after one sip handed it to my sister (the pregnant one. I am definitely not pregnant) and told her to try it since she’s been driving me nuts for a tea she could drink.

This tastes like strawberry and has a sparkling wine effervescence. Roswell Strange nailed it when she said Prosecco gummy bears from Squish because it tastes like that.

Steepster is working! Yay! Hopefully it lasts!

During the Steepster freeze I drank a lot of teas and got a wonderful package from my Dad which had my new teas from Tea Please and my order (with Sil and Roswell Strange) from Tea Runners. Need to add them into my steepster cupboard.

Tonight I divided up the teas that needed dividing so I could seal up the package for Roswell Strange. This was one of the teas that needed dividing as I’m sharing it with Sil and it also happened to be the tea that I finished dividing when the kettle was ready. So I brewed it.

I was busy while drinking it but it was good. Nothing special but good. Sweet is really the descriptor that comes to mind. It’s a sweet black tea. I’ll enjoy drinking it again but I may not remember it by the time I get to it again if I’m being honest.

Sil

here’s hoping i enjoy it. Ian MIGHT be able to pick up tea this weekend as he’s doing some weird ass 300KM bike race out there…but i’ll keep you posted

VariaTEA

Just lemme know. Until it’s picked up, I shall continue to add to it.

Sil

lol fair warning i have tea for you too

VariaTEA

Don’t worry. So far I’ve only added tea as I’ve made myself a cup and since I’ve been drowning in work, I’ve barely had time to have tea myself so you maybe get any extra bag a day…if that.

Sil

haha no worries. :)

Stole a sample of this from Roswell Strange and enjoyed it while playing pandemic. It was light and fruity and reminds me of Ombrelle de Papier…but not as sweet.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
