6444 Tasting Notes
Since cataloging most of my stash (I’m still going), I realized a lot of my teas are coming up to a year old (and some are even over 3 years old) so my goal is to drink those up. This tea joined my cupboard in October 2016 when my sister returned from her honeymoon and though it doesn’t show signs of aging, I still have at least 10 teabags left so it’s time to get working on them.

This is much better hot than it is cooled but still not my favorite. It tastes less like cleaner than it did the last cup I had but still just lemon with a hint of rosemary at the end of each sip. I wanted some sweeter strawberry notes to create a nice contrast to the more herbal flavors but they were fleeting and not very distinctive.

This smells like fresh baked cookies thanks to the maple flakes. Unfortunately those maple flakes also make this super sweet. Like super, super sweet. It also has a nice flavor from the cinnamon and creamy white chocolate chips but there is just too many sugary components that there isnt enough cinnamon in the world to balance it out. This could have been awesome if it weren’t so cloying.

I made another iced latte and tbh I thought I really didn’t like this because it seemed watered down but I stopped for a second to think about what I was doing and the whole 24 oz mug was basically gone. So I guess I liked it enough. Also only now did I realize it is watered down because this was underleafed by 1/2.
As it is, it is still a chocolatey, nutty chai. It reminds me of DAVIDsTEA’s Stormy Night actually so if you miss that, this may be worth checking out. Cinnamon is strong but not sweet so that’s nice and the chocolate is smooth. It actually isn’t bad and I am sure if properly leafed this would have made for a pretty great iced latte. Nonetheless, it is not something I can see myself drinking all that much so I probably won’t be restocking this anytime soon.
I saw a recipe online where you make an iced latte but instead of simply putting the tea over the ice to melt, you blend the two together and then top it with frothed milk. At least I think that’s what it was so that’s what I did. In the process I did something to our ice dispenser and caused a waterfall of ice which our puppy was all too pleased with.
Anyways, I decided to use this tea because I had a large quantity of it (yay for weighing my teas and knowing which ones I need to work on) and I was using 6 perfect teaspoons for a 24 oz iced latte (about 30g cuz this is one heavy tea). Honestly it was worth it because this is one smooth and creamy drink. I’m unsure if the blending made a difference tbh but this is still great. Creamy white chocolate with a cool peppermint kick. Yum!

Another tea from Evol Ving Ness. Thank you!
This has cooled quite a bit and though the flavor is subtle, it is nice and smooth. Cherry is the flavor that sort of delicately lingers on top and it is by no means cough syrupy. Gunpowder is hanging out underneath but is still present. Those both melt into the nuttiness of the almond that just pops at the end of the sip. It is quite lovely albeit lightly flavored. I am a fan.
