545 Tasting Notes
i mega oversteeped this and it is still freakin delicious!
i’ll still drink some down and then add some more hot water to mellow it a bit, but seriously this is a good yunnan. the dry leaf smelled VERY honey to me. like sweetener-added in the most delicious way.
i’m so so glad that i have at least 2 big cups worth left from what Shelley_Lorraine gave me in a swap. this is a tea i could get tea drunk on cuz i’d just have cup after cup after cup!
thanks for helping me through monday.
very very nice buttery oolong!
greenly sweet with a light and bright cream. it relaxes in your mouth.
i made a beer and tea cocktail.
for my 454th logged beer and tea. today is the day my logging numbers coincided.
it’s actually not a bad beer-tea-ni!
i’ve mixed iced tea with wine before, and champagne for a brunch type thing.
the good balance for this drink i found was something like 2:1 tea to beer.
Ale brewed with Grains of Paradise, Coriander, Ginger, and Sweet Orange Peel.
this is my 6th puerh today.
i still have 2 more puerhs in my collection of samples but i just can’t do any more. i feel crazy! like euphoric tea drunk awesome crazy!
buuuuuut even with the giddy feelings this puerh is not so exciting. i’ll probably only do 4 steepings and leave it at that.
my sister is watching anime today and the baby is out of the house and we’ve taken over the kitchen with baking and tea and we watched some more episodes of Attack on Titan and that show is totally efficient and pretty awesome.
also i saw Pacific Rim on friday and didn’t even say anything about it?!? wtf?! who AM i?!
yesterday i read a fan fic in which Phil Coulson (of the Avengers) is drunk and he calls himself and leaves a message for his future self and it was good times. consent is always sexy. amiright?!?
“Hi, Phil? It’s me, you. From the… past? I’m drunk and Clint won’t kiss me cause he doesn’t believe you like him? I don’t know. You have to ask him, he says. Right?” – loud noise, the next part muffled – “Will you talk to him?” – another voice – “Sure.” – a click and the muffling goes away – “Hi, Phil. Drunk-you tells me you want to make out with me but I told him I gotta get permission from sober-you. So when you listen to this, if you haven’t died from embarrassment I guess you should maybe give me a call? Although if you don’t bring this up I guess I’ll keep it to myself too. So don’t worry.”
mmmm i like this one.
upton has some good mini cakes.
earthy sweet and with malty caramel and a creamy fluid note that makes it blend so evenly. plus of course that dark wet complex flavor of puerh. not bitter or bland.
i am TOTES tea drunk now.
oh and also Doctor Who’s 12th doctor has been announced!
it’s totally my birthday month.
haha well 2 years ago when CHAroma tasted this she did. not. like it.
(but yes that was 2 years ago)
but as a puerh goes, for me, there isn’t really anything to dislike here. it’s just not thrilling is all. it’s a fine, average puerh.
okay okay it might kinda be boring. but not bad bad.
if it blossoms later, like on the 6th steeping or something, i’ll let you know….
my sister is watching anime. Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist
this tea is kinda almost too complex for me! i mean that complimentary.
it keeps changing it’s prominent flavors. i feel like i can’t even track it.
buttery but vegetal, sweet but earthy, oakey and light, and then something new still. like a mealy apple? idek.
the first steep wasn’t so great but i know you should sometimes rinse puerhs too, which i never do. i just drink it anyways hah. i’m sure i’m not the only one.
i’m gonna do a handful of more steeps, until i get bored or tea drunk. whichever comes first. start your bets now!
thank you CHAroma for being so generous and sending me this wonderful sample. it was on my wish list and everything.
(my sister thanks you too!)
hey PS this is my 450th tea tasted!!
oooo hello darkness my friend.
this 2nd? 3rd steeping? i lost track! hah imagine that. me. getting distracted.
i’m sharing with my sister. i read the descriptions out loud to her and we discussed it. so fun! never done that before. we agreed the caramel and raisin notes. and we like it.
i’m gonna steep it a couple more times. totes.
i started out with a 20 sec steeping, and then kinda just went for 1 min to 1:30 steepings.
i’m not a puerh pro. but i’ve been lucky enough to have a few that have blown my mind. and that made me permanently curious.
i’m sampling 3 puerhs right now. all fairly extremely different. and i have 3 more to sample next. (i find sampling any more than 3 at one time and they tend to get cold)
this one is not creamy for me. even now on the 4th steeping i don’t get a smoothness that the description talks about. though it definitely is a less dirt-esqu puerh than i’m used to. i think i’m just more acquainted with shus. i do taste the nuttiness and plantains dryness described. that part is acurate for me. but nope, no apricot or creaminess in my cup. not yet anyways. maybe a few more steeps will bring it out.
also i may have started my day with a sour ale and a double ipa so my tastebuds could be on the top deck of a cruise boat while i sit here in my kitchen. hah
happy sunday ya’ll!
i like orange in my teas it’s a fact.
a nice simple tea to try late on a saturday night while gtd.
thank you Shelley_Lorraine for the sample!
woops over leafed! but not oversteeped, and still good. whew.
kinda average milk oolong in my inexperienced opinion.
or i could be distracted by downloading fic and learning how to use twitter.
thanks for the sample whatshesaid! i know you aren’t online much these days, but hope you are having an awesome baby growing time!!
