Two things I can taste in this tea:

1. Pu-erh earthly, mellow, thick
2. SUPER GINGER PUNCH IN THROAT special attack

I like ginger and especially like on sick days or times I feel bloated. This tea is probably the best ginger tea I’ve tried for packing a delicious punch.

BUT

If I hadn’t tried DAVIDsTEA’s “The Skinny” first, I would of been in love with this tea. The thing is “The Skinny” is very similar as it’s pu-erh and ginger, but it also has much more complexity with oolong and citrus notes rounding out the flavour compared to “Pu-erh Ginger”.

My first sip of this tea was "Awww.. it’s The Skinny, but not as good. Wowza, lots of ginger! >.< "

IMO, I’d just stick to “The Skinny”. I purchased “Pu-erh Ginger” as it was onsale on Boxing day. I don’t think I’ll buy more of this tea.
However, I think this tea would pull off an interesting latte (almost chai effect) and it is very no-frills on being somewhat simple and potent.

drank Luscious Watermelon by DAVIDsTEA
1271 tasting notes

I grabbed 30g size of this tea… and when I got to work to make some I noticed I got one of the defective bags the sales gal told me about >__< so the zipper is ripped and I bet this tea’ll go stale fast.

Brewed at work in my libre glass it was horribly tart with this huge freak piece of…. melon? floating in it – it was white and big. But yeah, I would of poured it out if I wasn’t so thirsty. I’m thinking I had a bad scoop for that cup.

At home, brewed properly it very much tastes like watermelon with a tart aftertaste. I’m sure this is very dependent on how much sugary melon bits you get on for it to taste impressive. And the watermelon taste is legit watermelon, not the “dirty sock” fake watermelon candy taste, but not as sweet as I thought it would be. With that said, I really need to try this iced and sweetened, though I bet I won’t be buying more of this tea (and if I did, it be online only).

Also.. fishing out the big white melony chunks after steeping is yumm!

I purchased 30g of this tea just to try.

The smell is wonderful buttery rum, make you want to lick the tea leaves!

I bought it before going to work, and during work I decided to try it in my libre tea glass – and with that method I’m too lazy to take out the leaves. Once I got to the tea, UGGGGG it was kinda boring black tea with a nice smell.

Today, I decided to brew it properly for 5 minutes – now it tastes good. First sip was a “MMMMM! this is what it should taste like!” and the smell is really good. It was a big hit of mellowy smooth butter and sweetness and lots of aroma. However, as it got cold it reverted back to blacktea-ness dull, but a little smoothness.

Both times I drank it straight with no sweetner or milk, next time I will – I think this would make a hellva latte! But on it’s own.. ehhh, not bad but novelty runs out. Oddly enough, I think I’d buy it again.

drank Chocolate Orange by DAVIDsTEA

Oh hell yeah…

I made this tea again, but steeped it a longer time. In my cup, it almost looks like black coffee.

I took one sip and said “Oh hell yes!” Damn, so deep and earthy with warm chocolate and a sweet hit of citrus. I said in my last review that its like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange… I’m thinking this tea is better overall for taste and less calories. And I can keep drinking it without feeling crappy that I ate the entire chocolate orange.

drank Blueberry Cream by Tea Desire

Drinking this iced…

The dry tea smells berry and creamy, however.. yeah… once brewed up it’s pretty tart and not creamy tasting. It’s a very red tea from the beets. I’m not too impressed (I’m not into tarty berry teas) and I probably won’t finish it.

drank Jessie's Tea by DAVIDsTEA

I received this tea as a sample in my recent DAVIDsTea order. I never jumped on it at the store, as after smelling it, it wasn’t "wow"ing me and I voted to get more interesting teas on those shopping trips.

This is my first time drinking lavender.. I’ve had it in cookies and my oil diffuser, but not in my tea. This cup I can really taste the lavender (flavour wise… not the minty sharp like a lavender oil) and the coconut smooths it out. I’d say it is a mellow, relaxing, smooth tea. The rooibos isn’t noticed much (which I don’t mind).

In the end… it was nice to get a sample. It’s not bad, but I don’t think it’s my kind of tea, nor did it “wow” me. It’s different, but I won’t go and buy more of it.

Very nice tea!

I Purchased Cherry Blossom as part of the “Back from the Dead” event from Halloween. It was available online only at this time.

Pouring it into the tin yesterday it was ultra cherry smell! I was getting a little worried it be like “Cherry Potion” tea. I gave the two teas a sniff test, and the teas smell very similar.

This morning when I tried it, the instructions said 3-4minutes steep time, so I stuck with 3 minutes. It steepted into a white tea look and first sip I was blown away by it’s complexity – cherry (but no tartness), a bit of floral (from the rose and jasmine, I love that combo), and white tea. I didn’t notice the coconut, maybe it evens out the tartness of the cherry? In add, very delicate and balanced, with nothing over-powering the other flavours.

I’m about halfway done my cup, and I want to buy more to stock up – though I did buy 100g, lol and the tea is on the light side so there’s quite a bit there, so a little irrational. I hope it comes out again for the spring collection, as I’ll need more!

I bought this tea online as part of the halloween “back from the dead” promo – with this tea being available online only.

As I was pouring it into the tin… damn… smells just like crumble – fruity, cinnamonly.. I can almost smell the buttery chunks of carbs I can’t eat.

mmmm, first time to try this tea, it steeped to a pretty peach colour with a mild cinnamon smell to it. It’s a very nice white tea, with a strawberry taste, with a hit of tart at the end. This steeping I didn’t get much of a spice/cinnamon taste to it, but mmm.. very good. I think I’ll need to experiment with steeping times to find the best flavour.

Reminds me a bit of the “Mom’s Apple Pie” tea but with berry tartness.

drank Checkmate by DAVIDsTEA

I’m drinking this right now – I purchased 30 grams when it first came out and still am plugging away at it. The tea leaves are light and a small amount goes a long way by weight. I plan to get a tin of it, but I still need to finish off the 30 grams! 100g grams might be too much of this tea.

It totally smells like chocolate, but isn’t chocolate, with a nice smooth, earthy and coconut taste. It’s like drinking chocolate and it messes with your brain.

I love this tea in my Libre travel mug as it looks beautiful steeped with the white flowers and chunks of white coconut with black tea leaves.

I was raised on floral oolongs and green teas, mostly “beauty” teas. Early on as a kid, I can guzzle an entire pot of tea (or two) at a Chinese or Japanese restaurant.
These days I like adventurous and interesting tea blends. I’m fearless in trying new teas! I’m into oolong, pu’erh, white, green, black, guayusa, mate and herbals. I’m not into red rooibos but I keep buying it anyway.

The tea brand that got me started into loose leaf teas was DAVIDsTea. I used to live in Vancouver Canada and had access to their shop, however that is now limited since I moved to southern California.

However, the perks of living in the US is ultra cheap, fast shipping! Since then, my tea stash insanely expanded.

Other stuff I’m into that sneaks into my tea notes: Brazilian jiu-jitsu, metal music, drawing, painting, cooking, photography and nail polish.

BTW, my Steepster cupboard is not even close to accurate and I track my teas on a spreadsheet. Last update 573 Teas – August 2015.
