Strawberry Pie Honeybush

Herbal Honeybush Blend by 52teas

Why should apple, cherry and blueberry get all the attention? Here’s our strawberry pie flavored honeybush with real freeze dried strawberries, organic vanilla bean bits, cinnamon and all natural flavors including strawberry, vanilla and hints of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon!

Delish! This is fantastic. I am sharing a cup of this tea with my little girl right now, we just got home from her choir practice and it’s cold and wet outside, so I decided that we needed something to warm us up. She requested a strawberry tea so this is what I grabbed.

It has a lovely strawberry flavor, and the butter flavor is amazing, as is the vanilla. So good!

Like I said before … Frank has a way with honeybush!

Oh my. So juicy and sweet. It’s all strawberry with a smooth vanilla undercurrent and spicy cinnamon. Very tasty! I don’t know why I thought it would be dull compared to the Neopolitan Honeybush. I don’t know that this tea makes me think of pie, but cinnamon and strawberry are surprisingly excellent together.

This is my first attempt at cold brewing a honeybush. I think I should have probably used more leaf. The funky flavors that I tolerate for the sake of a caffeine free drink is also not present in the cold brew. The liquid is a nice transparent reddish brown instead of the usual dark murky liquor.

Another fabulous honeybush from Frank. Thank you , Kittenna for sharing some of this with me!

The first time I had this tea, I had gotten it in a swap. I think it was from Kittenna. I remember being really impressed with how juicy sweet the strawberry flavor was, and now bakery smelling the vanilla and cinnamon made the whole thing. I finally got my own pouch of this and it tastes just as good as the first time I had this. Summery strawberries are so yummy. Can’t wait for berry season to come back! And the cinnamony bakey flavor makes me think of brown sugar cinnamon biscuits…which I haven’t heard of until I just imagined it right this second. They will exist in my tummy in the near future. :) Oh! Wait! Strawberry shortcake on a brown sugar cinnamon biscuit! I am a genius!! And this tea is my muse. :) Now I really can’t wait for berry season. :)

EDIT: This tastes better cool. I suspect that it’s because the honeybush flavor subsides and lets the flavoring through. So much more juicy strawberry… mmmm. :)

Not sure how I skipped over trying this one, but I realized I had when I went to send some off in a swap!

The aroma is of sweet, spiced strawberries. It made my whole room smell lovely! (Perfect after the skunk incident.) And wow…. this one’s an absolute masterpiece. The flavour is almost exactly like the aroma, and quite intoxicating. I cannot BELIEVE I hadn’t tried this yet! It is amazing! Strawberry pie? Well, maybe not quite; I’m not getting much in the way of crust. But spiced strawberry pie filling? Absolutely. Seriously, this one’s a must-try. Wow. I see why this one made the permanent collection. (Also, I feel like I’ve been drinking a few spectacular teas lately!) This one’s going to be a keeper for me; this is a fantastic desserty honeybush blend that I can see myself craving in the future. Who would have thought to put together these spices and strawberry? It’s almost like a strawberry chai.

I’m rambling very badly. I’m very tired. Just need to review teas I brewed, then sleep… (Also, I pretty much inhaled my cup of this. So impressed.)

Bleh. I am so self-destructive. I think I may have just ruined Valentine’s Day for myself/the boy because of my own insecurities. :/ It has not been a great week, and the trend looks to continue for at least another one. Apologies for potentially miserable future tasting notes.

Anyways. Haven’t had this in a while, so took some in a Timolino to the boy’s place today. Tasted pretty good. Tomorrow I will discover whether or not it leaves residual flavour in the silicone bits (although if I’m clever, I’ll throw a fruity tea in that mug so even if it is noticeable, it won’t ruin the tea).

Took a travel mug-ful to watch the boy’s soccer game final (they lost 4-0, sadly). But the tea was good! I’m getting awfully close to a sipdown with this one… I actually intended to grab Cinnamon Roll HB today, which I have considerably more of, but couldn’t find the packet and was in a bit of a rush, so this one got the nod instead. This is one of those I-really-want-to-restock-but-have-too-much-tea types of teas… I have way too many other rooibos/hb blends to drink up before this would be justifiable. Sigh.

Drinking this one a touch hot for my liking. I think I prefer it lukewarm, as the flavours pop best then! Delicious late-night treat though!

Good old reliable strawberry pie hb. See, I only brewed up this, Blueberry Creme, and Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake HB this evening, and given that two of those are quite identifiable, I definitely don’t have the PB Cup mixed up with something else :/

Anyways, this is tasty, albeit not as strong as I usually brew it, I don’t think. Maybe I didn’t brew these for long enough??? Hrm, I thought I had. Oh well.

Inspired by Sil – a cup of this tonight. Sooooooo good! I’m not even trying to taste the nuances, just enjoying it for the delicious tea that it is.

I have been drinking tea in the evenings without regard for caffeine content lately, but last Friday I did opt for this caffeine-free beverage. Quite delicious, as per usual. I prefer this one to Cinnamon Roll Honeybush. So glad I took the leap and ordered this in my first 52teas order!

My 52teas order arrived! Did a small happy dance at the mailbox (which is one of those communal thingies in middle of neighborhood), then had the crushing thought that I hadn’t ordered anything decaf/caffeine-free and would have to wait until morning to dig in. I’m sure the neighbors had a good laugh at my expense. Got in the house, opened the pack, and I had ordered this! Another happy dance into the kitchen to brew up a pot.

Okay, let me just say this: if you like strawberries, you must go buy this tea now. Naow. Seriously, if you like strawberries, your life is not complete without this blend. I’m having this neat, no additives, no nothing, and it’s the awesome. I can only begin to imagine how magnificent this will be as a latte.

As this was steeping, it really smelled like a pie was baking. But I can barely taste any strawberry. It tastes very much of vanilla, cinnamon, and clove, though. Something about it reminds me of something from when I was a kid but I cannot pinpoint it exactly. It’s driving me crazy!

I’m going to try to steep it less and see if that helps. It just feels like the crust overtook the pie. That’s kind of how I would describe the tarte tatin I made for Easter, actually.

And now that I’m at the bottom of the cup I just feel like I got hit in the mouth with strawberry. Though I must say even as just crust, it was enjoyable.

From last night but I was too lazy to post.

Ok so the first time I’d ordered this for myself, I was not really a fan because it tasted mostly like cinnamon. But I got some again now from KeenTeaThyme and I think the problem was not using enough tea. BECAUSE THIS IS SO GOOD.

It’s really sweet, which I think I’d expect with strawberry pie (also honeybush). The strawberry flavor I can actually get this time, almost like a strawberry jam flavor. It’s creamy and the spices are more under control. I need to remind myself to use 2 tsp for honeybush.

Thank you so much Kristen for sending me a sample of this tea! I’ve been curious to try it, as I have enjoyed other strawberry teas that have come from 52teas.

This smells amazing! I’m smelling cinnamon and vanilla pie crust, bright juicy strawberries, maybe even some sweet strawberry jam.

Tasting it I was a little dissapointed, as the bright strawberry scent and sweet vanilla with a dash of cinnamon didn’t quite carry over to the flavor. They were all there, just muted. The aroma made me believe they would be in my face, but I got more woodsy soft strawberry with a pie crust (not storebought, this tastes like true homemade piecrust with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top).

Not that this isn’t delicious as it is, but I was almost shocked at how different this tea is from what I imagined based on the scent.

Now if only I knew how Frank made this tea actually taste like a pie…

This is one delicious cup, and I hope to order some in the very near future!

More delectable honeybush from Frank… will our pocketbooks ever be safe again? These teas have become my sanctuary. And this tea in particular is incredible. I tried it as an iced latte. I’m ashamed to say I downed a whole stein in about 2 minutes; I wanted to savor it but could not help myself. Juicy baked goods in liquid form, how could I resist? There is so much strawberry here! And there is a definitive pastry flavor too! The best part about the fact that its honeybush? Aftertaste is non-existent: no astringency, just deliciousness. Do I need to gush anymore or do you get the picture already? I am so glad this is a permanent blend.

Had a little of this today to help me relax, did the trick quite nicely! So delicious with a bit of honey. :)

This is totally a tea for a long steep. When I initially opened the bag the cinnamon was overwhelming. Th only other honey bush tea from frank that I’ve had (and really enjoyed) was the cinnamon bun tea which has oooooodles of cinnamon. So needless to say I was a little worried when I opened this one. The instructions call for 6-10 mins of steeping on the package so I popped it on my desk and did some work. What was fantastic is that as I sat there working away, the strawberry flavour started increasing and taking over the cinnamon. Soon I had a delicious smelling strawberry cup of tea.

When I finally got around to trying the tea it was delicious! I actually want to steep it a little longer to see if I can bring out more of the strawberry taste as it still had a bit more cinnamon than I wanted. Thankfully I love cinnamon :)

Best. night. evar. No really. tonight i think wins the prize for the best evening out here in beijing. One of the women who is also in to the city for the work we’re doing here, had a friend come pick us up so that we could go out. Tonight is the last night of Chinese New Year, so we went out to some pedestrian areas by the water. There was laughing, good food, fire crackers and fire works…music. lots of fun!

I’m having a cup of this before bed, though I’m not sure how much sleep i’ll get given that the fireworks are non stop tonight because it’s the last day. Hard to believe the weekend is over and it’s back to work in a few hours. ugh. At least the tea is helping me to relax and de-stress before bed.

Having a cup of this tonight while i wait to get on a call with canada. It seems i can’t win no matter which country i’m in, i always have to take the evening calls lol. The only upside to this is that i’m getting more work done (after meeting with the bosses, i have a crazy number of things to help china with). Also, my colleague and i have our day tomorrow planned out, though it sucks that her idea of sleeping in, is to have breakfast at 8:00…sigh oh well…at the very least i know i’ll get to see some things since it appears my sunday may be fully taken up with work :(

However on the scary upside? downside? i’m not too sure yet? there is talk of China seconding me… which basically means i stop my day job and come here to do the job they want me to do here…for however long that might take. O.o yeah i’ll get back to you on how i feel about that heh.

Night cap before bed. I also had “fruit” tea over dinner tonight which is super tasty but essentially tastes like really delicious hot juice. Dragon fruit, pineapple, tomatoes, orange all in a kettle and then as near as I can tell they add water to it. It was damn delicious.

The pollution is wreaking havoc on my lungs so I opted for a night cap of this tea before an early sleep.

I feel like i need to go apologise to walter bishop. I’ve totally been calling that tea almost the same thing as this tea…but apparently it’s actually just the MEMORY of this tea. I much prefer walter bishop now that i’ve drank them both in closer proximity to one another. Not that i don’t enjoy this tea but i REALLY like the smooth creaminess of the walter bishop tea better. Dropping the rating on this one a little since after 1.5 bags of this, it’s fading on me. It’ll be one of those teas that might cycle through my cupboard once a year but nothing that needs to stay in as a permanent blend unless i’m looking for more caffeine free blends…not that caffeine seems to affect me. I still feel compelled to have a bunch on hand, just in case, for guests.

Yay night time bed time tea! One last tea before bed. Up early tomorrow….gt to decide on a matcha smoothie flavour! I’m almost done my bag of this so ordered another to replace it from frank since its strawberry goodness and caffeine free. Nt that it affects me too much but other ppl that visit might be.

Night steepster!

What goes well with cinnamon buns fresh from the oven? THIS tea! ok so maybe not but who cares! :) Really like the strawberriness of this tea a whole lot.

for some reason i’m just really digging this lately as my evening tea. The strawberry just makes me happy. :)

Sooooog good. I’m totally in a strawberry kick tonight so this was perfect. Tea mug of this while playing some vids with the other Half. Tea to relax while other things drive me crazy lol

Backlog
Shared this with a friend last night – it was her first time seeing all my tea and man she was overwhelmed! it made me giggle just a bit. opened up this one for her to try and it was as delicious as i remember it being the last time!

Mmmmmmm before bed tea! For some reason I am just on this strawberry kick. I really do love this tea. Nom nom. There are little chunks of strawberries in here I always want to eat…

Mmmmm….almost a sip down but there’s more on the way! This is one tea I’m glad is on franks permanent collection :)

Mmmmmm nice way to end the evening! Delicious cup of strawberry tea! Seeped this one for longer than I usually do and it just helped to bring out the strawberry flavours even more. Ill have to remember that for next time :)

backlogging!

I feel there is likely to be a flurry of these now that steepster is up and running. it’s funny to me how dependant i am on being able to get my thoughts down asap. heh

Tasty tasty strawberry pie for this evenings dessert tea. Oh happy days :)

Bumping up the rating on this one a little since it seems to be working for me in the evening this fall. Thankfully this is one of Frank’s permanent blends or i’d be annoyed lol. I had this last night before bed with a little popcorn and “walking dead.” we’re still catching up on last season – we’re always a season behind because we don’t have cable. It’s nice to be able to get some relax time with the other half given how crazy our days and weeks have been. What i wouldn’t give for a weekend where both of us weren’t working. blech. Anyway there is something about the strawberry in this tea that I am really digging. A little less cinnamon and it might just be perfect.

Back log from last night. Had this to cap the night off – double cup just for fun!

When it’s brewing, this tea really smells like warm strawberry pie. I made a big pot of this last night and drank some hot, then fell asleep and drank the rest of it cold this morning. I accidentally left the leaves steeping overnight, and yet it didn’t taste too strong. Is it possible to get an over steeped taste from honeybush? I’m constantly over steeping my various honeybush blends, and in my opinion, I haven’t once ruined the taste. Maybe I’ve just been lucky though.

Oh my! I’ve had far too much caffeine today; I seriously need to shut’er down. Can anyone else hear my heart beat?!

Clearly I need something sans caffeine – Honeybush to the rescue!!!! That name doesn’t sound heroic enough, it should be something like Super-Honeybush! Or Honeybushman! Or Captain Honeybush I know… Cap’n honeybush! You know, like Cap’n crunch. I don’t think I’ve ever tried that cereal before, but ever since I was a kid that name has always made me laugh. What is going on? Why am I talking about a kid’s cereal? FOCUS!!! Yeesh!

Oh! Speaking of kids…. Time for another episode of strange childhood confessions! This tea kind of reminds me of the strawberry shortcake doll I had as a child. I’m probably remembering this all wrong because I’m hopped-up on caffeine, but I’m pretty sure I tried tasting my strawberry shortcake doll because it smelled so darn good. That was probably sometime last week… just kidding! Even though that was many many many years ago, I can guarantee that this tea tastes better than that old strawberry shortcake doll.

This attempt at tealogging is falling apart, Have I actually said anything useful? Hmmm…to recap: this tea tastes better than my childhood doll….yeah real useful Nadia! Hmmm …o.k., so to keep it in terms that I can use without distracting myself:
Tea? Good!
Reorder? Heck yes!

Whew! that required a lot of focus!

Wow! There are a lot of exclamation points in this tealog!

Darn you Caffeine!

Off to try and focus on my to do list!….

Crap. I should have logged this while it was fresh in my mind.

Got this from Cavocorax (thanks!!!) and I’m pleased to say I actually enjoyed it! I guess honeybush is less offensive to me than rooibos. Also it’s one of the first 52Teas blends that I’ve had decent luck with. (Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake was decent even if not really cheesecakey, and i liked Butterbeer!!) I will try it again later.

I recall it being sufficiently strawberryriffic but not fake tasting. Maybe not pie tasting either but that’s no surprise, given my vast and unwavering love of all things pie. I can’t imagine I’d ever consider a tea as being a truly good pie replication. Buttery flakey awesomeness is hard to clone.

Anyway, I digress.

I’m a bit on the sickly side today, or yesterday, my sleep schedule is all off. My husband took the day off, so we spent the day sick together, napping, watching movies, and drinking tea. Of course, now we’re both wide awake.

One of the teas we drank today was Strawberry Pie Honeybush. This is a truly outstanding tea! The dry tea smells incredible. At first sip, there’s the naturally sweet flavor of ripe strawberries. That moves into a rich, creamy, vanilla body. And the finish… the finish tastes exactly like a cinnamon graham cracker crust! I kid you not, this honeybush blend is utterly delicamazing.

Thanks Amanda for this sample!

There is not as much strawberry flavour as I thought there would be :(. It is sweet and I do get a baked goods taste, but not pie crust. The cinnamon is nice but it is taking over the strawberry taste. Even though it isn’t as strawberry as I would like, I do enjoy cinnamon. So for a cinnamon tea, it is good.

I brewed 2 cups of this last night and put one in the fridge to cool. It is still pretty good but I think I like it hot better.

My 52Teas order arrived yesterday, and I made a pot of this to try out. The smell in the bag was wonderful strawberry sweetness, like candy or strawberries with a lot of sugar. Steeped, the smell diminished somewhat and I personally found the flavours surprisingly muted. i got a hint of something I would call cinnamon (is there any in there? I hope so…) and would have liked a but more strawberry flavour to go with the dry smell. I think next time I’ll steep for longer and see how it goes. I also totally missed out on the pie flavours. I’ll try harder next time : )

I bought this without realizing it has the dreaded red rooibos. But I tried it anyway – I live on the edge! :P This is basically just strawberries in a cup. Strawberries are my #1 fruit (we had a strawberry patch in CA and I ate them almost everyday). Finding a tea that doesn’t have that horrid artificial strawberry flavor is always a tough quest, but it ends here. I love that this is caffeine free too, so I can enjoy before bed. So far, no headache. (YAY!) Absolutely delish!

EDIT: there is a twinge of spice to the cup as well. I didn’t notice it because I was too busy gulping the cup! I noticed on the last sip. Must. Brew. More. :)

I love this tea! It’s so sweet and refreshing and fun. It really does taste like a cup of summer. :) I needed a little lift this afternoon and this fit the bill. Now I’m smiling, despite still being at work. :)

Tried this last night. It smells sooo amazing. But as for the taste, I’m not really getting the strawberry flavor that everyone else seems to. It was more of a cinnamon flavor with a general sweetness. It’s very good, but not what I expected. I went with exactly 8 minutes, I’m not sure if more or less time will tone down the cinnamon/allow the strawberry to come out.

Just finished the last of this. I really enjoyed this one. I only steeped for six minutes, and definitely didn’t get as much flavor as the eight minutes. I recommend going for more time.

Ok I couldn’t help myself as soon as I finished my cup of white choc grasshopper I steeped the Strawberry pie…… THIS is probably one of the BEST things I have tasted! I taste the strawberry but can taste the “crust” in the tea. I have to resist the urge to place another order today (especially since my husband left me order the Breville today) I am having my parents over for dinner tonight and will introduce them to a big pot of this for after dinner dessert! Is this a permanent honeybush blend or just a limited when its gone, its gone blend?

Sad night…. my daughter and I are enjoying the last of this tea. On a happy note though I can order more (it is in the permanent My Sweet Honeybush Collection) Seriously if you have not tried this tea you have too…. It is AMAZING!

Had a cup of this delightful treat this early afternoon while at work. It helped me slow down and take a breath to cope with the disastrous work week I am having!!!!!! Just have to get through two more work days this week- thank goodness!

I took some of this into work today and after lunch I decided to make a cup. Well I had to step out of my office for something and when I came back in my office smelled DELICIOUS!!!!! (This would make a great scent for one of those plug in things!!!) Yummy

First of all, a thank you to Daisy Chubb for letting me try some of this tea, which I’ve been eyeballing for quite awhile. The tea smells sweet and fruity but at the same time a bit spicy – when I taste the tea it’s clear the spice is cinnamon, not a lot, but it’s a nice touch. It’s mildly sweet but I do wish the strawberry was easier to pick out – perhaps I just need to steep it longer.

The longer steep brought out more strawberry this time around but I think it could still use a bit more. I’m also getting a bit more of a ‘baked pie-crust with spice’ flavour this time rather than straight cinnamon. It’s interesting but I’m finding that I feel rather ambivalent towards this blend. It’s on the right track but it needs a bigger, bolder strawberry flavour to really convince me.

I ripped open the little sample bag of this tea and was so delighted with the smell! The smell was pure, juicy strawberries! I am sipping and taste mostly cinnamon and a sweet background, but no butter or strawberries or PIE flavor. I haven’t added milk or sweetener at all. What did I do wrong? I steeped for 8-10 minutes and was so looking forward to tasting what everyone else has tasted. I haven’t lost hope with this tea yet, I’m going to try another cup to see if I get more strawberry dessert flavor.

EDIT: I have increased the rating of this tea thanks to the steeping tips from liberTEAS. I am getting much more strawberry now and still the same cinnamon finish. I don’t taste crust, sugar or butter, though. Wish I did! This tea is definitely a tasty cup, but I feel that I have to add too much leaf for one pleasing cup of tea. Still yummy, though.

I have had this a number of times now, and have been holding off rating it to get as good an idea as possible. Each time, it felt too weak, so last night, I used boiling water for 15 minutes! That did the trick.

First of all, I will say I think it is a delicious tea and very good for a honeybush/rooibos blend (yes, I know it is actually honeybush, but I am putting them in the same overall category because I enjoy both).

However, I don’t know if it was my particular batch, but I didn’t taste the pie aspect of this tea at all. I know that is a lot to hope for, but after hearing so much about 52teas, I really had my hopes up.

I added a little vanilla icrecream to my cup, and it was amazing!! However, it still didn’t taste like “strawberry pie”. The strawberry was very much there, as well as a little sweetness, etc. (even without the icrecream), but not bakey.

Nevertheless, though it didn’t meet my expectations, I still I look forward to trying some of their other blends when cupboard space frees up! Or, if Frank blends something I just can’t resist, which has almost happened, but not quite. . .

I got this little herbal offering from Seykayyay. Now, I’ve had Frank’s offerings before, and I can say – with no hint of irony – he is the mad scientist of blenders. And this is no exception. It’s loud, it’s rambunctious, it feels guilty to drink…but it’s all awesome. Taster notes aren’t needed, it tastes like its namesake suggests. Granted, I didn’t do this as a traditional “tea” by any stretch. I brewed it as a latte, for I think that’s how this works best. Tastes like cheesecake that’s been melted by dragons, forged in awesome, then returned to my lips.
