Hazelnut from Adagio Teas

Hazelnut

Black Tea by Adagio Teas

This new flavor combines the full, bright taste of Ceylon black tea with the toasty, creamy sweetness of hazelnuts. Hazelnut’s natural pairing with chocolate makes this tea a perfect complement with dessert or a touch of sugar crystals.

Sipdown!

I could have sworn i’d tried this a long time ago, but apparently not according to steepster. Another sample from Terri which i’m glad to have. I’m not sure how i feel about this tea. Brewed, it smells like hazelnut. But drinking this i feel like there’s something in there waiting to jump out and bite me. hmmm i dunno. maybe i’m just in a weird mood. this DOES taste like hazelnut though. I’m just not sure i like the base it’s blended with..or something.

Autumn Hearth

Not a fan. The Ceylon gets bitter (I was warned and I was careful but then I got next to no hazelnut flavor). I prefer the caramel but will have to find another breakfast tea this morning, David’s toucha bon bons? Oh hey I have the new Laoshan Black to try! drops everything

thanks so much Kasumi no Chajin for sending a sample of this! I have tried one of the blends from Adagio that had the hazelnut in it that Starfevre kindly traded with me for. It was a really delicious and unique element in that blend, so I’m happy to try the hazelnut on its own. 100% hazelnut means 100% hazelnut flavor. And this is very full flavored! You can hardly taste the black tea since there is so much flavor here. It’s amazing that it smells and tastes so great — very toasty. I didn’t see any actual hazelnuts in this blend like the picture shows, but maybe it was because it’s a smaller sample. The second cup was just as good, I just had to steep it for a couple more minutes. I love this one. I’m very impressed with Adagio. It tasted especially scrumptious with strawberry & maple syrup waffles this morning. I haven’t had waffles in a while, so I felt like Sally on last week’s ‘Being Human’ inhaling those waffles after her resurrection.

Steeped up a steaming mug of this dessert scented black tea this morning with breakfast. Thanks Lori for sending a generous portion of this tea my way. It’s a sweet, toasted hazelnut black tea that did well on its own. I think next time I’ll try it with a splash of cream and dollop of sugar and see what flavors it may bring out. I think it would hold up well to milk and sugar. This is a delicious dessert tea (that I had for breakfast :))

I can finally drink tea again after having my wisdom teeth removed! Well, actually I could have a few days ago, but with one of my ‘teeth’ hurting pretty badly I didn’t want to risk it and waited until the surgeon gave me the go ahead today :)

I wanted to have something warm and soothing to end my night, so when I saw this sample pack in my tea box it jumped out at me.

The aroma as I opened the bag was rich and hazelnutty. It smelled delicious. The aroma stayed just as nutty as it steeped & filled my kitchen with a comforting warmth.

The tea itself required very little sweetening. I added just a touch of milk- it seemed fitting for this tea- and I fell in love. Nutty, rich, silky, warm and soothing. A very relaxing cup of tea. It would be a great way to end the day or to wake up with in the morning.

Thank you Madeline for the wonderful sample! Your sample box has really been a treat. I really like this tea, I’ve been blending it with Teavana’s English Breakfast. I like how strong and distinct the hazlenut flavor is. However, I do have to be careful about over steeping this one, I’ve done it a few times and it was overwhelmingly bitter.

Will Work For Tea

Back to the old routine after yesterday’s green marathon…

This is an okay tea – definitely not heavy on the hazelnut. Admittedly, I use a lot of leaf which I don’t mind because this is pretty cheap compared to coffee – something I tell myself I want, but don’t drink because its a little too strong. So this will tide me over until I can find something that pops more in both the hazelnut flavor and tea’s strength (caffeine)…

Side note – I did find some brown rice, popped and unpopped, in the hazelnut tin. Sifted those out, but still used them to brew it in the tea. While not noticeable, I think it probably brought out a little of the toasty nuttiness of the tea.

Thanks Raul for getting me to try this tea!
I love hazelnut coffee, so it only makes sense to try it in a tea form.

And Adagio rocked it!

The smell when you open the bag is a wonderful hazelnut. I love the black tea for this as it compliments the hazelnut flavor. And then while brewing there is that promise of a delightful hazelnut flavor.

I love this tea first thing in the morning. It hits my senses & wakes me up…just like my coffee would.

Overall, this is a tea I always keep on hand. I have the biggest bag available so that I’m never without. And I must brag again that I am in a one day delivery zone for Adagio…well, that is until they open a store here in NY…HINT HINT to the people at Adagio!!!

WOW that is some strong tea, next time I am brewing it much shorter!

It has yummy morning wake up black tea potential (shorter steep, some milk and sugar)

Post-Steep Additives: sugar, a bit better, could have used some milk

I am fully confident I will like this tea at least as a 50% once I fiddle with it

First off, I’m going to say that it’s weird to be listening to myself.
I bought GarageBand for the iPad so I could record a few instrumental themes for a theatre class, and then I spent all of last night playing with it. Let’s just say that my piano at 3 in the morning is far superior to my voice…. haha. I did have a good voice day yesterday though, and I’m really excited to be singing a recital on Sunday night :)

Tea!
I’ve mixed this with a bit of Cream of Earl Grey from DAVIDsTea, and it’s great. The nuttiness of it really mixes well with the vanilla, and it really does taste like hazelnut – it doesn’t taste too fake or artificial, which is good, since I don’t really go for flavoreds too much. But they’re good for mixing in with other things.

Needed a bit of a kick in the pants this morning. I was “supposed” to be in bed by 9:30. I ended up going to bed at 12:30 after spending three hours working on poetry critiques. The downside to being in an intro to creative writing class is that, even though it’s a prereq for the higher levels, there are a lot of beginning writers. Which isn’t a bad thing at all, but I spent SO much time in high school as editor in chief of our literary mag reading bad poetry that I’m a bit sick of it. I’m sure there are people in the class that are very good, we just haven’t gotten to them yet.

And then of course I had to be up at 6 for my 7:15 education seminar. The plus side is that I’m done with classes by 10:10… the downside is that I am NOT a morning person. Or I am, I just need my sleep. And I start student teaching today, so I went shopping and bought “professional” clothes… I feel like a kid playing dressup. But I LOOK LIKE AN ADULT. I don’t understand. I put on makeup and painted my nails and thought about jewelry and oh my goodness how is this me?!

Just a bit stressed. I’m sure it’ll be fine. T-minutes two hours until I meet my teacher.

Sigh, tea.

I like this one. Hazelnut is one of the few nuts I’m not especially allergic to – I don’t even know if I am allergic, but after walnuts I get a terrible headache.

it’s bold and nutty and really good in the morning. Not a very good tasting note but I just had to rant.

:)

Song of the day: Safe to Shore by Of Monsters and Men.

It’s a creamy, rich taste. Made this into a latte. No sugar needed! Burned myself on the ingenuiTEA (it’s stuck open and I didn’t realize) so I emailed Adagio – hopefully they’ll be able to replace it with a working one! If not, I suppose I’ll just buy a new one :)

Yum.

Hotbrewed this 3tsp/10 oz then poured over ice with a bit of milk and sugar.

I’ve been on a hazelnut kick right now, and this is delicious! It tastes like hazelnut, with a bit of astringency that’s not too bad since I’ve added milk and sugar. It’s nutty and dark and oh! It’s excellent.

Drinking this because I wanted a tea to add milk/sugar to tonight. Just the right amount of nuttiness, a little bit toasty. Beautiful light brown until I added milk, and now it’s an opaque dun color. It’s great for blending, but a bit finicky – it’s very strong, so I have to add milk unless I steep it for <2 minutes.

I like this far more than I thought I would. I don’t know what my hang up was… it smells great, and I like hazelnuts. I think I assumed it would need sugar or something. However, it’s good just as it is! It just has a tiny edge that some sugar would knock off if you wanted to avoid it. In fact, for a flavored tea, it’s quite good!

Got this with the nut and spice sampler from Adagio, which I set aside and promptly forgot all about until I was digging for something sans caffeine last night. I popped the top on this to give it a smell, and the scent was so delicious I left it out on my counter last night to try first thing this morning.

I was a little worried it wouldn’t taste as good as it smells, but I gave it a shot anyway. It’s a tiny, tiny bit harsh, but it’s also sweet and nutty and pretty fantastic. It isn’t as creamy as it smells, but a little bit of milk would fix that, I’m sure. I don’t have any on hand right now to try, unfortunately.

I’ll definitely be adding a bit of this to my next order from Adagio.

This tea sure is hazelnutty! I love hazelnut and this tea has no lack of that flavor here, but it still lets the black tea flavor through. Good for when you want to feel like a coffee drinker…

This is the first tea from the sample pack that was sent to me by Will Work For Tea!

The smell was great, I loved it instantly. The nuts are very “present” in the smell, but not dominating the whole picture.

I was so exited about this that I almost oversteeped it, but it turned out I held it only for 30 or so more seconds than I wanted. Good luck for me :)

The taste was very, very mild, really creamy and dessert-y. I added a hint of sugar, will try it with milk next time! Overall, one of the best dessert teas I’ve drank, a really good one for evenings with a book or some good music.

Made this one for my whole family today. Everyone was impressed and really curious about how in the earth are nutty teas even possible :) A good evening it was

I personally tried it with milk this time and I have to say, I liked it more without milk. It doesn’t have enough nutiness to carry it brightly through the creaminess of the milk. However, I’m not saying it was bad, it was just not as nutty as I expected but overall, a great experience!

Perfect for a Monday morning and the first big snowfall here in Chicago.

So comforting and warm. This is far and away one of the best Adagio flavored blacks.

Last of my sample. I think today will be the first day I can actually drink tea again!

Oh noes, my sample is almost gone! I’m just plowing through ’em lately.

Roasty, toasty, and the hazelnut taste manages to overpower that not-so-great Adagio black base. A favorite morning tea.

One cup left in my sample. Good roasty, toasty way to start my day.

This is not a true tasting note of the pure hazelnut tea this time (although I do drink that also) because I went half and half with the adagio caramel tea also in this cup. I just love this blend with milk and sugar. It really goes well after my habitual cup of hot chocolate in the morning because coming down from the sweetness of the chocolate, I don’t like to change directly to a more traditional black tea because the difference between the two is too harsh and I end up tasting nothing but bitterness. Much better to step down slowly.

I am in love with this tea. It smells so nice, the hazelnut smell is quite strong, but not overpowering. The taste is nutty and (with milk and a bit of sugar added) very smooth. It’s got a bit of an edge to it without those additives. The caramel adds an additional sweet note and they blend together really well. The aftertaste is a tad bit bitter, but nothing too awful.

I think this is one of the better flavoured teas out there.

I have been thinking I was looking for a vanilla tea. NO, I have been looking for hazelnut and Ceylon tea. I got my samples from Adiago today. I opened each tin and sniffed. Good smells from the two oolongs, but when I got to this one, I stopped and made a pot of tea.

The smell is intoxicating. The brew is a light black tea and the hazelnut definitely adds a dimension. Not too overpowering, just a nice complement to the Ceylon. I added milk and sugar and downed that pot instantly. I drank the second pot without milk and sugar. I like it:)

Not sure about the brew time or the temp of the water. I normally only brew tea 3 minutes. The tin recommends 5 min with water 212 degrees…so I will have to play with this and see what I like best. 3 infusions later, I really love this tea. I do think that the water does not need to be 212 degrees and 3 minutes is an adequate brewing time. But I will continue to experiment with my sample. I can tell I need to place another Adiago order soon, the sample will be gone in a few days:))

The last of this tea is upon me:( I enjoyed smelling the tea in the tin..When I open my tea drawer, I could smell it! The Ceylon base is good but the hazelnut is not strong. The $2.00 sample was very much enjoyed and I know it will be missed in my cupboard. This tea is on my shopping list. Enjoying the last cup with a chocolate:)

I have not had this in awhile. It is warm and toasty with the great scent of hazelnuts. The smell in the tin is enough to become addicted:) I added just a spoonful of milk, delicious. Perfect compliment to my waffle supper.

The smell in the tin is incredible. The taste in the cup is good, but not incredible. I like this tea with milk. I don’t really like it plain. Will I reorder this tea, probably not. If the smell in the tin was equal to the taste in the cup…Yes, but it is not:(

started my morning off with this tea. The smell is sweet, but the tea is mild. It stands up well to sugar and milk, but this morning I drank it plain. YUM.

YUM!! Richy, nutty, smooth, delicious! I love this mixed with chocolate tea or roasted mate. The smell alone is enough to make my mouth water. I’m the anti-hazelnut coffee person and I never thought I’d enjoy a hazelnut tea but it is so good. I love Adagio’s black flavored teas for blending, and I suggest you use this to blend with any tea that you wish had a warmer, cozier taste!

I love Hazelnuts. I love Hazelnut Coffee. This is the tea version. Real toasty hazelnut flavor with a complimentary tea base. I’ve only tried it plain, but I should experiment with sugar & some soy milk.
Smells great before brewing, just as nice after
Probably great to blend with vanilla or some berry. I’ll have to do that
