Herbal Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Stop suffering
The Ancient Greeks swore by peppermint to relieve stomachaches and (OK, let’s be frank) gas. The Romans used catnip. In India, they’re into fennel seed. In China, ginger has worked for 2000 years. Other traditional remedies include sweet stevia, which reduces stomach acid, and orange peel for bloating. This smooth blend has them all. Try it. It just might do the trick. Caffeine-free.

This tea is delicious and does exactly what it promises. I’ve had stomach troubles for as long as I can remember, and I’m a funny sort of lactose intolerant. I frequently forget that the main ingredient in sour cream or alfredo sauce or whipped cream, is, well, cream, and then I spend the rest of the night sick. Today I forgot about sour cream, but I’m nursing a cup of this and my stomach is calming quicker than I’ve ever seen. This is an absolute must-have for my cupboard.

Also, due to the catnip, the cats are going crazy sniffing it….be warned!

Ugh. I came down with a bad, bad case of food poisoning Friday night and ended up having to leave work early yesterday because of it. When I’m ill, blood vessels burst in my face and I look like a zombie XD. But that worked in my favor when I asked my boss if I could go home early. Anyway, last night I was still feeling rough and I had eaten too much, so I asked my wife for a cup of this. I’m one of those bad patients who get sick, never wants to eat again, but then the second I start to feel better I want to eat ALL THE THINGS. When I was a kid, it frustrated my mom to no end. “Mom, I’m starving, can I have tacos?” “Here start with a cracker.” “Moooooom you’re trying to kill me, aren’t you?” LOL. Unfortunately now my mom is in another country and cannot keep me from eating all the things. Oh well, this helped settle my stomach so I could get a full night’s sleep. I think I need to stock up on this ASAP in case it disappears. Of course when I contacted the sushi place that gave me food poisoning, they told me there was no raw fish in my order, so there was no food poisoning. They were incredibly rude about it and I’ll never order from them again.

My stomach has been loudly protesting the amount of fast food we’ve been eating over the last two weeks, so a big cup of this was definitely in order last night. Ah, it’s good to be back in a place where I don’t feel weird about making as much tea as I want!

So I was good today, honest! No tummy-trouble offerings, just sane, non-dairy, non-curry choices. And then I made a pot of another tea from a different company…I am ill. I’ve been way too sick to outline here, but that tea made me seriously ill. I tried to figure out if it was the tea by taking another sip…oh god yes. The Warm Apple Pie from Tea Oh has me sick.

So, once again, I am spending my evening curled around a pot of Le Digestif and Spearmint, fighting off the cats who just want the catnip, and trying not to die. Thank goodness for this tea…it is definitely going on my travel list.

Seriously, curry, why do you hate me as much as I love you?

Once again, this tea saved me from a night of painful stomach cramps. <3

And I’m back. Guh. I’ve been off tea and off my diet…isn’t it neat how those go hand in hand? Tea’s felt like too much trouble, and soda is so tasty and so much easier to drink… ugh.

Today I overindulged in some fudge, which my stomach angrily protested. I made a big cup of this with a spoon of spearmint and remembered why I fell in love with tea. My stomach is back to feeling groovy, but I think I’m going to go for another cup anyway.

This tea just won my heart. Today I had some bad Chinese (boo!), and I got food poisoning. Eventually I was able to make myself a cup of this with a big scoop of spearmint added and mmmmm. Definitely always adding spearmint. My stomach has calmed, I no longer feel like I’m dying, I’m just feeling incredibly grateful for this wonderful tea.

My wife and I managed to get food poisoning while “hanging out” with friends. This tea saved our lives. The end .

We had wonderful, wonderful, amazing Thai food tonight. We’re never ordering from anywhere else again.

However.

My weakness is green curry. It is so darn good! But it also tears up my insides. One cup of this and I’m back in tip top shape. I love this tea, especially mixed with Spearmint.

So I had a really, really bad day at work yesterday. And I ate a blue cheese burger that really didn’t agree with me. I was up until 2 in the morning with my stomach in a knot, wondering what to do about the current situation at work. So when I got up at 7 this morning, my stomach was still all twisted up. I wanted something to help me wake up, but my stomach wouldn’t hear of it, so I reached for this standard.

I’m glad I did. With the help of this tea (and a wonderful coworker), I feel a lot better about my current situation. As soon as I started sipping this, I felt a lot better.

I don’t know if it’s the catnip or the fennel but I can’t handle the smell of these leaves. The brewed liquor isn’t much better. I bought and drink this for one reason and one reason only – IBS. I don’t enjoy it, but it seems to help.

It’s just not my cuppa tea! I definitely don’t drink it willingly. My friend loved it though, and it’s rated surprisingly well for something that grosses me out!

I had it in a pretty Davidstea tin that I decided to use for something else…. It took forever to get the stench of this out of it. But I will keep drinking it, so long as it keeps making me feel better.

I am not going to bother with a rating as I’m not sure whether to rate it on taste or functionality!

1) I just had an old tasting note jump to the top of my feed. What?
2) My stomach is giving me crap for the pizza I ate tonight, and so I am having this. And it just does not work as well as New Delhi Delight, which makes me sad. I will have to pick up the other soon.
3) No other comments because I had booze at a party tonight and I don’t want to have to erase shit in the morning.

Thanks to Wifey_Woman for sending some of her stash my way!

This is an interesting blend. I’ve had some tummy troubles since Friday so I thought I’d try it out. I love how comforting it smells dry and while it is brewing.

Upon sipping it, though, the taste changes. It’s not a bad change; I taste fennel seed, licorice, and a bit of citrus. It’s a refreshing and tasty tea. And is helping my tummy. It just happens to smell more comforting than it tastes… odd, but still decent. I wouldn’t drink this every day, but it’s a great alternative to just plain peppermint on days when your tummy is finicky.

The wonderful Little Mew Brew sent this to me ages ago, but I need it this morning as my tummy has been killing me. As I’ve said before it’s not something I could drink everyday, but I love how it soothes tummy trouble without tasting (too) much like medicine.

I’m really starting to dig these David’s Teas…

Trying this for the first time this morning after many tummy troubles this weekend. It smelled pretty good while infusing. Right now the smell before I sip makes me not want to at all. I’m not sure what that smell is….just something not getting on well with my nose. However, that aside the taste is pretty darn yummy and the rating naturally is based on that. It’s very smooth and I really hope this does the trick. Has anyone ever tried this iced? I imagine that would be pretty good.

This is not a tea for me to drink while at the computer apparently, since my cat won’t leave me alone and is consistently trying to get onto the desk!

I’m honestly at a loss with this one for a description. Or a decision if I like it or not. I want to like it. I love the smell of it dry, and even brewed it smells lovely. But as I sip it, there’s something there that turns me off, and turns my stomach. I’ve been trying to figure out what it is, and I’m thinking it’s the stevia. I’ve had bad reactions to it before and more and more I’m thinking I’ll have to avoid the teas that have it. Which is sad since Davids seems to be using it more and more. (Hint, if you’re reading this DT, please please stop this trend!)

My mouth is also having an aftertaste of the fennel slightly. Which strangely I’m not minding. So yes, I’m confused!

The flavour of this tea isn’t my favourite but it sure does help my tummy. It tastes almost creamy and thick to me with mint. Wish the mint was a bit stronger. Don’t really care for the catnip in it but my kitty is best friends with me whenever I make this tea haha. It does help with my stomach pains though, which are quite often. I have celiac disease so this tea is a must have. The taste has been growing on me though, perhaps because I feel so good after. If you suffer with stomach pains I would definitely give it a try.

I don’t remember a lot about this tea because it was about medicine not taste, but… I got to work this morning feeling like I was absolutely about to hurl. I got to work, brewed a very strong cuppa this and within 15 minutes I was fine. And stayed that way for like 5 hours. And now my tummy ache has returned and I wish I had bought some to take home.

I think the key ingredient here is definitely the stevia. It just brings all the other flavours together into a special blend that could easily have been pretty forgettable. Not only the natural sweetness of the stevia, but its actual taste works wonderfully with the rest, and especially with the fennel seeds. I’m really happy about this one, I thought it would taste like a hundred other herbal teas, but it does stand out!

(As for the digestive help, I can’t really say much about it, as I’ve never really had problems with digestion, but I’ll trust other reviewers that it does help!)

I basically pass this out whenever my co-workers have tummy upset. Someone with Crohn’s Disease says this helps him. I’m not going to say it’s a miracle worker, but it’s pretty darn close!

I prefer to only steep this tea for 1 – 2 minutes instead of 4 – 6. It is a very strong tea with a little kick. This tea does everything it promises with helping stomach aches and keeps you awake.

I had a cup of this last night, post dinner. I’ll admit, the stevia in it was a bit of a concern when I bought it, but I decided to try it anyway. And even though it is sweet, I did enjoy the cup. The anise was really prominent as well. Normally that licorice flavor is not my favorite (I have other digestif-type teas that I drink in spite of the licorice flavor). But the anise isn’t so bad as licorice is, so I enjoyed it more. It is probably one I’ll buy again. I might try a few others to compare, but I like it better than the similar Yogi tea that I’d been drinking for digestion.

So it isn’t fair of me to give this tea an actual rating because I have mixed it with The Skinny. But this mix is really good if not a little heavy on the peppermint. I think next time I will put a little less of Le Digestif in my mix. The smell is great but there is a taste at the back of my throat that I get with peppermint. But I will try this sometime when I am not feeling well since I really think it will be good on it’s own. I just will have to make sure I don’t oversteep it.

Good mix though. I am just waiting for my cats to smell the catnip. Although one of my guys is immune to catnip. He prefers honeysuckle.

I had this tea for the first time this morning and so did my cat! He went crazy over the catnip and even took a sip when I wasn’t looking! I loved this tea so much that I had it twice today. It does exactly what it promises and for me that was a relief. This morning, I just steeped up a cup for the taste but after a heavy supper, I needed it for the stomach relief. I love that it is a natural remedy and also that it has no caffeine so it is perfect for late at night. I found this one to be (in terms of taste) almost in between North African Mint and Detox so if you liked those, you may enjoy this aswell. Please note that my rating is based on both taste and performance. :)

I’m not sure what to think of this one. The smell, both dry and steeped, is …weird. I get a whiff of fennel, and then peppermint, and then what I think can only be the catnip. My brain is having a hard time processing what my nose smells.

It tastes a bit better than it smells, but it’s still strange. With the exception of the catnip, I know that I really like all of the other ingredients separately and in most teas, but I don’t think they blend well together.

Digestion-wise, I can’t really say anything. My digestion tends to be pretty good. If I ever have an upset stomach I’ll have to try it again then.

I was curious to try this tea because it apparently alleviates several digestive issues. With ingredients like fennel, ginger, and peppermint, I wouldn’t be surprised. Needless to say, I didn’t feel like it alleviated those symptoms, but it’s definitely delicious. I enjoy having this as an afternoon tea if I am in the mood for something herbal. Cats love it too! (To sniff not to drink!)

I picked up this tea after a night of eating too much bratwurst and schnitzel…needless to say my tummy wasn’t feeling great. While I give kudos to this tea for making me feel much better, I wasn’t crazy about the taste OR the smell and I can’t get past it. I do enjoy ginger, but I think in this tea it was much too overpowering. I’m not normally a fan of stevia because of its aftertaste but there wasn’t much of one with this tea which was nice. I ended up giving this one away to a friend just because I know I won’t get around to drinking it. :(

A nice smooth sweet tea, you can really taste the sweetness of the stevia leaves. It is so sweet that I had to think about whether I had added honey, which I didn’t. The sweetness might have been brought out by my oversteeping it, as I don’t remember the tea being this sweet last time. Anyways, I enjoy it :)

This tea is really good for when you have a stomach ache, and is very relaxing and healthy!
