White Guava

Fruit White Blend by The Persimmon Tree Tea Company

An exotic blend of white peony loose leaf tea, guava, strawberries, marigolds and a touch of ginger completes our White Guava tea. This tea brews a light color and has a beautiful, rich scent with a tropical flavor. As with all of our white teas, White Guava tea prepares nicely hot and iced.

Excellent Iced! Cold steeped in fridge – perfect summer tea!
Excellent guava flavor no artificial taste and the perfect amount of ginger! Very light on strawberry – could be stronger but it does peek through.
A VERY good white tea base to boot!

Whenever I get a new tea I make whoever is with me sniff it. “Go on, stick your nose in!” I guess I’m trying to convert them with peer pressure. Soon I’m going to be out dealing tea on the street corner! Anyway, when my mom sniffed this one (since she was the person nearest to me when I opened the tin) she made this horrible face. I knew it was a winner then—she HATES guava, and the smell of it is quite strong here and distinctly “guava!” I, on the other hand, love guava. Pretty much any weirdly shaped or colored fruit and I get along really well, even durian. Man, someone should make a durian tea. Or a dragonfruit tea… there’s a prickly pear blend that caught my eye recently, maybe that will be next up on the list of odd fruit teas to try.

I didn’t get a sample of this the first time I ordered from them, since I didn’t know if guava, strawberry and ginger was something I really wanted to try. But I got a coupon for a free ounce, so why not? I love that even the small amounts of tea there are in cute little tins, they’re such an adorable size! And man, does this smell good, like a tropical paradise in a tin. I cold brewed it (shocking, I know!) for the usual 12 hours and the smell after was so good, I went through the whole cup in about 15 minutes when I usually try to get them to last a few hours. Ah well!

The guava is what I taste first and it’s very, well, guava-y. It’s got that signature “thickness” that I expect in guava, along with a punch of sweetness. The strawberry plays well with it, the more common taste balancing the uniqueness of guava perfectly. The berry notes are gentle here, but brought to the forefront a bit by the ginger. Man, the ginger! It’s so perfect! A little tiny pinch of spice and bite at the end keeps this from being a run of the mill fruity blend, and it manages to make everything else pop. I don’t know if I’d go “oh, that’s ginger!” if I didn’t know it was in there, but it works some kind of magic. I love the white base as well, it balances everything else out and acts as a great canvas for this unique flavor combo. I’m quite glad I have a tin of this instead of just a sample, but I think I’ll be running through it quickly!

Alphakitty thanks for this one!

I do like this!

The Guava goes with the white tea base beautifully! It’s just the right amount of Guava! Nice, light, delicate YET fruity, and near tropical! The strawberry notes are lovely, too!

Finally trying my tea from The Persimmon Tree! I got this one in a free 1 oz. promo they had. Hoping it’s delicious!

The dry tea smelled a bit like guava, if I recall correctly, but not as strongly as I would have liked. The flavour is also rather mild… BUT it does actually taste like guava! I just read Azzrian’s note below and see that there’s apparently ginger in here?? I’d believe it, and it’s at the perfect level too. Strawberry? Hmmm, can’t really pick that up. I’ll have to try this again when I’m in less of a rush, and can review it before it sits cold for a couple hours. Seems quite promising though!

ETA: Second infusion was even better, if I recall correctly! Threw out the leaves after that though, as they had been sitting too long. Many more future attempts await :)

Tasty travel mug tea from yesterday. I wish I could taste more strawberry, but I do like the guava/ginger combo. This tea is so fluffy, the ounce I have is lasting FOREVER

Lovely guava flavor with an unobtrusive white base. I taste the ginger a bit but the strawberry not really at all. It might have to do with the cold brewing.
Guava is one of those fruits that I’ve seen and smelled at the market but never eaten fresh. I have no idea what to do with one. The flavor of this tea is a lot like the smell of the fresh fruit though so I would say the flavoring is quite natural.

Thank you Azzrian. This is very tasty.

Why is everything sold out on the DAVIDsTEA website??! GOD!!!!! *huff. It’s so inconvenient. I guess no advent calendar or Pumpkin Chai or Love Tea #7 OR Mom’s Apple Pie for me! Ugh. :(

Oh well, on to the first tea from my recent swap with Indigobloom!! I have about 30 teas from swaps anyway, so I really shouldn’t be ordering new tea. It’s getting late so I believe a white tea is in order. This is my first tea from The Persimmon Tree, and it sounds good. I wear a guava-flavored lip gloss every day. ;)

This tea has spot ON guava flavor! The white tea provides a nice floral, sweet, nutty base that complements the guava fruit perfectly. I love this!!! Only a tiny bit of astringency sneaks its way into the end of the cup as it cools. It’s really very nice, balanced and even keel. It’s hard for me not to gulp it down! Thanks for sharing Indigobloom!! I’m really enjoying this on a somewhat boring, tiresome day.

Well, this night is turning around. I just found out that a movie I worked on about 2 years ago was finally released! Looks like it may have gone straight to video, and they changed the name. So, that’s why I haven’t been able to find anything about it. But in case anyone is interested, it’s called “A Little Bit of Heaven” starring Kate Hudson. I did the visual effects in all the heaven sequences, mainly rotoscoping, blue screen keys, and mark removal. It’s available on Netflix watch instantly. :D

I think I’ve finally reached the point where I have too many tea samples. Or maybe I’m just saying that because I was gone for a week and I came back to 4 boxes of swaps and it all seems so overwhelming. Tea samples are always awesome, but now I’m wondering how I’m going to go through it all. In the meantime, I’m going to try to resist all the upcoming Christmas promotions.

Anyway, I picked this out from the sample box I got from momo a while back. I don’t have much experience with guava, so I’m really sure what to expect. I’m not getting a LOT of guava flavor in this, I mostly just taste the white tea. It’s not bad, but I’m not picking up on all the notes that everyone else seems to be. Or maybe I’m just not familiar with guava to taste it. It’s not a bad tea at all, though. Didn’t really get a chance to cold brew this since my samples was so small, so maybe I might pick up the fruitiness a little better if it was colder.

First, a rant. Why are people so full of failure today? We were going to Chipotle for dinner and some stupid teenager nearly hits us and tries to like, turn ahead of us because he completely missed the lane. And then he of course just gave the “I’m an idiot” wave when we really wanted to tell him to learn to drive. And then in Chipotle, they seemed completely inept at everything. The manager we loved is now a hibachi chef so they’ve gone completely downhill.

And then, I just went on Facebook to see my brother post a picture of his girlfriend wearing one of my scarves holding my cat kite. If you’re going to be tacky and touch my things, DON’T POST IT ON FACEBOOK. I called my mom to let her know to tell them to leave my stuff alone and she of course is all like do you want me to tell him to take it off Facebook? Like my problem is that it’s on the internet rather than you know, TOUCHING MY STUFF. Who. Does. That. Just because I don’t live there anymore doesn’t make those things not my belongings.

Tea is NEEDED. Since my order from The Persimmon Tree finally came (expected delivery dates from the post office are apparently also untrustworthy, like your own brother) I wanted to try them out immediately and this seemed like a good start. I ordered a whole tin rather than just a sample.

Since I’m too angry for hot tea, iced tea it is. This smells so good while it’s brewing. Definitely smells like guava with a nice side of strawberry.

The strawberry doesn’t come out so much as you drink it, but it seems to be there for a good bit of sweetness. I love the guava though, I haven’t had anything guava in a long time so this is really good. And I love the depth the ginger adds to it. It gives it a little kick too.

This one is definitely a winner. Glad I didn’t just get a sample because I’d already be ordering the tin by now! And it’s improving my mood, though also being able to get my rant out somewhere that feels like someone made read it and care (read: not Twitter right now because it’s opening ceremonies tweets round 2 and my “problems” are not 40 foot Voldemort or whatever and therefore to be scrolled past).

I had this iced earlier. I finally went through nearly all my tea, there’s still a ton with no place. But I went to Lowes tonight and loaded up on organizing stuff (but mainly for my lip balm stuff) so maybe that’ll be better!

I’ve also started plans for my patio garden this year. I’m starting pretty much everything from seeds, except strawberries (unless I can find a container blueberry plant around here, all the ones online can’t be shipped to Georgia). So far I have arugula, mixed greens, spearmint, rosemary, basil, jalapenos, dwarf snapdragons, a variety of poppies called California twisted (they look so neat – http://www.burpee.com/images/product/prod000344/prod000344_lg.jpg), and dill. Then I am thinking baby carrots for containers!, beets, eggplant or tomatoes, cucumbers, and lavender.

I saw that to make the most of space, plant lettuces around the perimeter of a pot and then plant something else in the middle later! So is what I am going to try.

Anyway, I haven’t had this tea in awhile. I completely mixed up what I was doing but managed to save this tea. I really should try it hot one day, but I really think this is only the second time I’ve had this one.

It wasn’t as flavorful as last time but that’s because I completely forgot I only should have put 4 oz of water in the jar. Instead I filled it, so I doubled the tea but I probably should have made it 2.5×. Oh well. Still tasted like guava overall.

As it turns out when I was a little kid I used to loooove guava. I would beg my mother to buy it at the store any time I saw it. This tea is like getting smacked in the face with a fist full of juicy guava bits. It smells like guava, brew like guava and anyone who loves guava should have this tea in their cupboard. I however, in my “old” age have fallen out of favor with guava. I try to love it, but it never loves me back. On the plus side, I don’t fault the tea for that as its a really nice tea, just not to my liking. I’ve enough of the sample that the persimmon tree tea provided to try it cold as well, so I’ll be doing that in case it lends itself to being more of a cold tea that I can drink. I really do love the generous sampls they provide. It really let’s you play with the tea a bit more instead of trying to get everything you can out of a whee little sample. :)

I got a tin of this with their free offer. It was definitely packed as full as it could possibly go! This smells so good. It reminds me of Hawaiian Sun juice. It comes in cans like soda and has flavors like Passion-Guava and Strawberry Lilikoi. They’re everywhere in Hawaii, and sometimes in Asain stores here on the mainland. I haven’t had a Hawaiian Sun in forever so I was really excited about this.

I tried it both hot and cold. The flavors seemed to be about the same either way, and both ways were very good. Despite the strong smell, the guava flavor isn’t IN YOUR FACE. It’s a very light flavor. It doesn’t taste weak or thin. It’s light while still being very good.

This was the last tea I had last night. I wanted something cold brewed, and I wanted something fruity. I’ve only had this once before, so I put it in the fridge for about 12 hours. It looks like my thoughts haven’t changed much since my last note. It smells sweet and fruity and delicious, while the taste is more white tea balanced well with the guava, without one feeling like it’s overpowering the other. One I will definitely be using to get me through the upcoming Texas summer.

I saw Kittena’s review this morning and I have been planning to get to this one for the blog anyway, so…. The dry aroma almost scared me off. It is strong and prickly. Once brewed the taste is not nearly so intense. My first experience with guava. I like it. The ginger adds just a touch of peppery zing – always welcome. The strawberry comes in late and very lightly in the sip. I could not single out the white tea base but could sense it all around the other flavors adding support. I am not the biggest flavored tea fan but this was pretty nice.

Started my tea day with this one again today. On the second cup the fruit flavors withdraw a bit allowing the white tea to stand out. Really digging this cup.

The white tea flavour slightly overpowers the blend. Sweet guava taste is faintly present on the sip but blooms near the middle of the sip. I’m detecting hints of ginger near the end of the sip.
The flavours do not seem to be properly balanced with the white tea taking over.

Thank you to Sil for sharing with me!

My Persimmon tree order! YAY! I went nuts with an ordering of samples. I had the kettle prepped since I knew it was coming and I know when my mail guy shows up.

I started with White Guava to try first because as I was browsing to figure out the steeping times (annoyingly the samples did not state water tempuratures and steep times, so I wrote them all down on my receipt) and a free offer popped up for White guava. So, I figure I’d try this puppy first and see if I’ll snag that offer. I originally ordered this tea because guava is pretty unique to have in a tea!

DRY: Strong – very sweet and fruity. Smelled guava before? This is guava! I could sniff this sample packet all day!

STEEPED: Slightly guava with maybe a floral note? Brews up a light orangey yellow.

TASTE: Light and refreshing. Mildly guava and sweet. I think I can taste strawberry in regards to sweetness. Slight hit of ginger essense as the tea goes down and aftertaste. White tea is light and doesn’t mess with the fruityness.

WHO’D LIKE THIS TEA: Those white tea fruity drinkers, don’t be scared of unusual fruit!

COMMENTS:
It was one of those momemnts of Sip. Sip. Sip. Sip. non-stop until it was done. Refreshing! I’ve never had a tea with ginger that was this mild, usually ginger teas get the POW GINGER effect. The tea is very mild. I could go for a stronger taste in guava and strawberry. But as a whole this tea is a well made balance of fruity and refreshing. I’d say this tea is sophisticated (and slightly exotic) flavor.

Would I get more? (For free hell yes, I’m cashing in on that coupon code!) I think this tea is very good but not wow’ing me to become a staple of mine. I am however very impressed with Persimmon Teas and I excited to try my other teas in my order.

Drinking a big pot of this while I crochet my current pattern idea while watching Korean cooking shows on youbtube. Uggg, I hope it turns out, it’s a bit of a gamble as it’s a felting project and I’ve never done a felting pattern before.

Very nice, strawberry, guava, hint of ginger over white tea. The ginger is very gentle here.

Cold steeped!

More guava taste than hot, oh yeah! Also sweeter. However, the longer I kept this steeping in the fridge, the more the ginger came out, but on the sweeter ginger side of things. If the ginger is throwing you off, try coldsteeping for a couple hours.

I need a better way to cold steep. Right now I’m using my Libre glass, which interestingly doesn’t pour out, so I pour the tea over a strainer. Tempted to get another DT Steeper or similar device and just leave in fridge.

This tea is another real gem. A delicious gem! I just received this in my Persimmon Tea order today and I have brewed 4 cups in a row of this. FOUR IN A ROW! The second my mug starts to get low I am up and preparing another batch. The guava really seems to bring out the subtle sweetness of the strawberry and the ginger is subtle enough to give you that warm and cozy feeling without spicing up the tea too much or being too over bearing on the white tea flavor. I cannot wait to try this iced, but it seems I have gotten too caught up in brewing cup after cup of it hot and delicious.

If you are thinking about ordering this, do it! Go on! It is 1,000% worth it. One of the best teas I have ever had.

First off, from reading others’ reviews just now… I really have a craving to try this blend iced now!!

Ingredients: Organic White Peony Loose-Leaf Tea, Organic Strawberries, Marigolds, Ginger Root, Natural Flavors, Guava White Tea

Smell: A very mild scent, not too strong at all. It is a blend that you would have to come up close to the cup while it steeped to get a nice smell of it. It is a refreshing smell, sort of like a small citrus forest.

Taste: Subtle flavouring for sure, but it is nice like that. I prepared this blend with no sugar (thankfully) because it has a very sweet base to it. If sugar was added, I think it would make a great iced tea mix for those cool summer days. However, I don’t really taste as much as the strawberry flavour I would usually like. I tasted the ginger more than the strawberries (my boyfriend tastes less ginger and more strawberries though, lol). Overall, I think this is a great light tea, with medium caffeine intake and if you usually enjoy guava there is no reason why you should not try this excellent blend.

First Sip Thought: I started to sing Mellow Yellow in my head. (tea brews into a beautiful yellow colour)

Light on the fruit in a good way. Nice alternative to heavily scented flavored tea. I really like the light touch of ginger that let’s me know it’s there but doesn’t dominate the tea.

With my first order from Persimmon Tree Tea Company I received a 1oz sample of White Guava. I’m not really familiar with Guava and it doesn’t seem to be a common ingredient in teas, but I love white peony which is the base of this blend. I do have to say that I was impressed with the packaging of this tea, it arrived only 3 days after I ordered it, packaged in an air tight tin which will keep my tea nice and fresh.

After drinking this tea all day I hardly made a dent in the sample tin, this tea resteeps incredibly well. The main flavor that comes across is the white peony, but the guava gives it a subtle sweetness that works wonderfully with the white peony. I don’t really taste the strawberry and only the barest hint of the ginger. The overall flavor is mild, but since this is a white blend that is really what I expected. This is the perfect addition to my summer rotation, I can’t wait to try it iced tomorrow because I’m sure it will be amazing.

I got a free 1oz from the Persimmon Tree tea website for Facebook posting & it came in a cute tin. The tea smells strongly of guava, and when I steeped it the guava taste was really strong. I don’t get any strawberry or ginger unfortunately. I really should try it iced because I think the hot guava is throwing me off… only time I’m drinking guava juice is cold…

A very yummy fruity tea! So far I have found that most fruity teas are too tart, but this is just right for me. Sweet and refreshing without feeling like I am drinking juice (in my opinion I do not want my tea to taste like juice).
I frequent a Pho restaurant where they give you these guava hard candies as an after dinner mint type of thing, and they are so delicious – so, I was very excited to try this tea when I saw it was guava flavored. Did not disappoint!
