Brewed this up this morning to try and get through as many Della Terra teas as possible quickly! I have… 17, so it will take a while…

Anyways, this one smells delicious! I brewed it up (and it’s been steeping for hours, I used my Timolino infuser basket) and it also tastes delicious! A very good flavoured rooibos. Nothing medicinal, only pure sweetness and creaminess. I will admit that it does not quite taste like eggnog to me :( however, it’s caramelly sweet (akin to DavidsTea’s Creme Caramel rooibos), with some creaminess, and then a hint of spice. It’s really quite delicious. An absolutely perfect caffeine-free dessert tea, even for those who aren’t too keen on rooibos! I’m getting a little worried that by the end of my Della Terra tasting spree, I will want to purchase bags of everything … the only teas I haven’t been super keen on so far are Saveur de Paris (just not unique enough), and Chocolate Almond Coconut, which was ok in flavour but quite weak (and besides, I have some of that one left).

Yep, I maintain that this is a fabulous rooibos. Had another cup out of my sample (it’s almost gone! Nooooooooo!) and the aroma was absolutely intoxicating. I still don’t think of eggnog, but it’s like someone took a creme caramel rooibos (which I enjoy), mixed in vanilla, added just a hint of spicing, enough to make it different, and the result is pretty much the best rooibos blend ever.

Also, this re-steeps once ok, but the rooibos flavour does come out a bit more. Not enough to be too much of a bother, but I didn’t like it quite as much. Not quite as special.

Sipdown! Tragic :( I realized that one of the main flavours in this tea is honey!! Like DavidsTea’s Honey Bee. Although less cloying here, and mixed with tasty creaminess. I’m sad to see this one go, but really should get to work on my other honey bush/rooibos teas instead!

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas, Della Terra Teas sent me this tea!

http://sororiteasisters.com/2012/12/24/on-the-eleventh-day-of-christmas-della-terra-teas-sent-to-me/

I liked this more than I expected to. My biggest hang up with it – before tasting it – was that I was sure it wouldn’t have a creamy texture that I felt an egg nog would need. Rooibos tends to feel rather thin on the palate, and it’s hard to get that creamy feel with rooibos. And while this IS a little lighter in the texture department when compared to some of the other eggnog inspired teas that I’ve tried this holiday season, for a rooibos this is surprisingly creamy. The creaminess is primarily in the flavor but some of it translates into the mouthfeel as well.

And I liked the way the nutty notes of the rooibos tasted with the sweet nog flavors. It was really quite enjoyable.

I heard you like eggnog, so I put your eggnog in your eggnog tea so you can drink eggnog while drinking eggnog tea…(sorry).

Half completed experiment last night where I put eggnog in this, as I felt it wasn’t quite eggnoggish enough. However, after making it I decided I wanted to sleep instead and placed the cup in the fridge. Result? Not bad. Cold, creamy, somewhat eggnoggish spiced rooibos that tastes like it has alcohol in it.

I think I prefer it on its own. That way I can appreciate how naturally creamy and spiced it is, even if it doesn’t taste quite like eggnog.

The snowflake sprinkles are cute!

So i have to say? This is not eggnog. Maybe my nose receptors are off, as are my other halfs…but while this was brewing, we totally agreed that this was like baked goods…sticky gooey baked goods, made with lots of butter…like fresh out of the oven gooey cinnamon rolls.

I was REALLLY hesitant to try this one though because i was for sure convinced that it would never taste as delicious as it smells. Also, sticking your nose in really close makes it not smell as good as well :)

So the tea? It’s actually pretty darn good. There’s a creaminess to it that is delicious, but i still don’t think this is eggnog, at least not so much. This reminds me more of cinnamon buns and i’m sticking with that. This is like gooey cinnamon buns without the overpowering cinnamon that happens with 52 teas cinnamon buns. This is like the after taste, when you’re licking your fingers off after eating a cinnabon…delicious!

pssssst guess what? 200 teas! that means i just need to find a way to sipdown 10 teas tomorrow haha Not sure if that’s actually doable but we can see :) If nothing else, i’m still pretty proud of myself for getting down this far in 3 weeks. After the weekend with the girls i was at something stupid like 320+ and now i’m at 200. That being said, I have incoming swaps and orders, but there’s no mail until monday haha.

This one? I’d probably order it again. I rather enjoy the creaminess of the rooibos and it’s a nice change from the other fruitier rooibos blends that i like and love. It’s just not a tea i see myself wanting all that much in summer, so maybe i’ll hold off until the fall again.

Sipdown!

The more I have this, the tastier it seems. I may pick some of this up again after all if only so that I’ve got if for when I have a hankering for that delicious creamyiness.

After a lovely bout of phone anxiety, it is time to write this note from last night.

I love the snowflake sprinkles in this, they are so cute and festive. I steeped this up for about 10 minutes or so.

It’s a bit more like a spiced caramel creme to me than eggnog, but that’s okay. It’s still very tasty. There’s also an almost buttery taste to it, but it’s just overall not too much like custard. I mostly get cinnamon, I really have no idea what “nog spices” are other than nutmeg? I just looked up an article where some eggnog know-it-all says cinnamon and clove are unnecessary to eggnog, because clearly everyone should just suck it up and follow tradition. Jerk.

I’d love to try this as a latte. It’s also not super rooibos tasting so that’s another plus.

Courtney

Thanks to KittyLovesTea for this one – and so many others I can’t wait to try!

I’m personally not a fan of eggnog, but perhaps I will like eggnog flavoured tea :) It does smell like eggnog. Like spicy eggnog. That must be the cinnamon.

Well it has that bizarre “medicinal” rooibos taste I can’t shake, but the aftertaste is quite nice. It’s reminding me of something I can’t quite put my finger on…

I had this one last night before bed, and adding milk took it to the next level of creamy deliciousness. It was like an egg-less nog, without that heaviness that comes from the eggs and cream.

(Side note: “nog” is such a fun word! Maybe that was part of the appeal.)

I definitely prefer this to actual eggnog (cause I’d rather eat my empty calories than drink them!) It’s very soothing with a mellow spice level, and the rooibos taste is barely present. I think this would also make a great base for a hot toddy with a dash of rum.

What a great way to end my day started with an amazing Verdant black tea which was followed by lots of meh tea. Tastes amazing. Unfortunately don’t have muc of it which forced me to place an immediate order. Flavored rooibos for night time is amazing.

I think this is tea #9 of my iceday sipdown (I want another one tomorrow)

I don’t know what happened but all I got was bitterness, never experienced that with a rooibos before. must be what I ate before it.
it smells so yummy though, creamy delicious goodness

ETA: brewed up what was left & it was much better, slightly creamy, a touch of spice. Really I wish it was as creamy as it smelt. But over all very good.

Thank you Chuckieroy for this tea. It was funnily enough one that I regretted not getting. Plus with my area being snowed under already and the whole weekend is due to snow I would say it’s the perfect time to drink this blend.

The tea smells super duper strong. Cinnamon is definitely the main character but is combined with a sort of clove/orange to smell like mulled wine. It’s a wonderful winter smell … I’m thinking of Christmas again now.

Once steeped the tea is that wonderful red rooibos colour but this smells sweet and rich, similar to the raw smell but much sweeter.

Very similar tasting to a few other teas I have and they all remind me of mulled wine. This version is sweeter and less rich. It does have a red wine taste about it.. sweet, fruity, dry but mix it with cinnamon and spices and you get a red wine with more character and it becomes somewhat lighter. That’s what this tea is about, the rooibos is sweet while the cinnamon gives it depth yet keeps it light while the spices give it pure flavour and the sweet sprinkles make sure it remains sweet and unheavy.

It’s a nice blend but I am thankful I didn’t buy it as I have a few others that are so similar but I am enjoying this tea and I may buy it in the future.

Rooibos and cinnamon go together so well. It may not be winter but I craved a big mug of this today and I’m glad I did. :)

Drinking this in my new DAVIDsTEA mug (“Eggnog Snowfall”), thought these two would go well with each other.

Winter Nog is very tasty and very fun to drink. I do love sprinkles in my teas :). Since I had a sip of eggnog this morning I think I actually do detect some noggy-ness in this. In any case, it’s sweet and creamy and perfect to snuggle up on the couch with.

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday. :)

Crow Kettle was so very generous in sending some lovely sounding teas for me to try. I truly appreciate it! thanks so much This was one of the teas from DT that I wanted to try. I hope to try them all, really, but it seems like they get rid of some of their blends sometimes. That is why their try me packs and frequent sales come in handy! This sounds delicious and it is! I love the spices… they do seem like the exact spices that would be in egg nog. This doesn’t actually taste like the eggy part of egg nog, but somehow there doesn’t seem to be another tea like this out there. Creamy, sweet & spicy! And DT’s rooibos base is very good. I love the little snowflakes! I drank this one in the hopes that the weather will start looking better out there!

I bought a lot of stuff online for black friday and cyber monday (with me being the only one of my friends circle buying stuff, everyone was on the “no buy” bandwagon. I cannot resist deals, especially tea deals.)
My della terra order is the first thing that came out of all the stuff I bought! WOOOOOT!

DRY: strong, liquor like smell with a mix of spices scent. Very cute snow flake sprinkles!

STEEPED: similar to dry, liquoury spicy smell. Inviting and not smelling like ack rooibos!

TASTE: Warm, well rounded spices – lightly cinnamon and nutmeg? The spices are not overly strong or overpowering. Slightly sweet and creamy. Warming on the tongue from the spice. A touch watery, but very good considering I’ve had many watery rooibos blends. Not very red rooibosy tasting, in fact, I forgot I was drinking rooibos!

COMMENTS: I’m thinking this tea as a latte, this would be killer!
I quite enjoy this Winter nog – it’s a great evening, winter tea. The spice level is perfect, it’s kinda sweet. Yum. I don’t know if I’d order more after the sample is done as it’s not making me go crazy yet, but I’d highly recommend peeps to try this tea out if you are into a good winter themed tea.

sip down!

This was good and totally a wintery tea. I like the light spice and creamyness. I made this as a nice latte for a post workout treat.

Good chance I’ll snag this again around the fall season. I got a Della Terra order coming – I can’t waiiiiit!

I made this as an iced latte with boba. Freaking amazing!

I need to try it as a smoothie next time!

I enjoyed a cup of this last night. It was my first experience with Della Terra Teas and I was excited to try one of their blends after reading so many positive reviews. I like eggnog and we always have some in our fridge every holiday season. Winter Nog appeals to me because it is one that I can enjoy at night right before bed, and what is more comforting that a cup of warm eggnog-flavored tea on a cold night!? I found that this tea was a little bland without sweetener added, and although it was smooth to begin with, adding just a little bit of milk made it even smoother. It unfortunately has that strange aftertaste that all rooibos blends seem to have, although it was a lot less than others and it seemed to go away as the cup cooled. The finish of this tea was almost like smooth, sweet caramel. A very nice tea, and perfect for a winter evening! Thanks, Cavocorax!

-Dry blend has red rooibos with white snowflake sprinkles.
-Dry blend smells of sweet eggnog with the rooibos base. Tea liquor aroma is lightly of eggnog.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium brown color.
-Mellow spice flavor with a smooth caramel-like finish.
-Best with the smallest amount of milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Softly flavored and reminiscent of creamy eggnog.

Yum yum, this is the first tea I grabbed from my order that came yesterday. I wouldn’t say this is super eggnog but its a sweet lightly spiced tea. But jeeze. It good: )

My first Della Terra order arrived today! Everything looks lovely, certainly will not be my last. I decided to brew this one up tonight as I wanted to make sure I was going to be able to fall asleep early this evening. I was up late last night and I want to get lots of sleep before I have to get up early tomorrow.

I did not find the dry smell very attractive. But after the pungent-ness wears off, I could smell a hint of eggnog.

The brewed tea is a nice dark caramel colour. I added almond milk to enhance the experience and the flavours definitely allude to eggnoggy goodness. This is definitely a nice winter rooibos to have around. I like the flavour a lot.

this tea smells almost too crazy!!
it’s super fun. glad i got this to try.

i’m so tired from the gym but i really need to shower. you know how it is.

This has a bit of buttery creaminess, and it makes me think of vanilla, even though I don’t see that in the ingredients. It’s tasty, and wintery, but not really eggnog-like. Maybe if I added cream?

The cinnamon, nutmeg and whatever else they spiced this with are pretty good. It makes for a comfortable dessert tea when I don’t want any caffeine.

This is the first if the teas that I ordered from Della Terra on black Friday. I’ve never tried Della Terra or rooibos tea before. I’m on my second cup of this delicious tea. I’m glad the cinnamon isn’t overpowering. It’s creamy & has just the right amount of spice in it. I’m really enjoying it!

I was really hesitant to try this tea. I’m NOT an eggnog lover. Having read some of the other tasting notes on here, and most say it doesn’t really taste like eggnog, I put on a brave face and gave it a go. I’m really glad I did. This is good. It’s NOT eggnog but it is creamy, cinnamon, winterish, warm and comforting. Thumbs up.
Thanks JackieT for sending this sample. I would NEVER have tried this if someone hadn’t given it to me.
