Strawberry Cupcake Black Tea

Black Tea by Simpson & Vail

When you sip this delectable brew the strawberry taste first hits your tastebuds followed by the rich, creamy, chocolate “cake” taste. Some of our staff like this blend with agave or sugar, but I find it’s delicious (and less caloric) as is! The aroma is as enticing as the taste – sweet, baked strawberry cupcakes. Yum! The cup leaves a lingering creamy taste of fresh fruit that makes it hard to resist another and another and another sip!

Ingredients: Indian black tea, strawberry pieces, strawberry leaf and strawberry cupcake flavoring.

Brew tea at 212ºF – steep for 3 minutes.

Mmmm! Cupcakes are one of my very favorite treats … probably only second to creme brulee. However, as I don’t own a blowtorch (and my husband seems very hesitant to get me one) nor do I have much patience for making custard, cupcakes are a more frequently enjoyed treat around here because they’re fun to bake, and I don’t require a blowtorch to apply the finishing touches on a cupcake.

This really does taste a whole lot like a strawberry chocolate cupcake. The strawberry comes through at the start, tasting fresh and authentic and sweet with just a hint of tartness that comes through at the finish, and lingering on into the aftertaste. After the first couple of sips, the chocolate begins to emerge and after a few more sips, the chocolate is just as strong as the strawberry. I even taste a creaminess to this (frosting!) and a bake-y, cake-y kind of taste.

So very yummy, this is a great way to enjoy the goodness of cupcakes for breakfast without the guilt of eating an actual cupcake.

I need some comfort food. It’s going to be a HELL of a day!

This fits the bill. It has a strong black tea base. Followed by a strong Strawberry flavor. There’s also a dark chocolate flavor in there that is just as sturdy as the strawberry! There is a crusty type taste doing the jive in the middle of the sip. This has a slight bitter taste in parts of the sip but in a good way where it contributes to the overall flavor of this flavored black tea. As it cools it does seem to get a bit creamier…like frosting. YUM!

Yummy! Yummy! To my Tummy! Tummy!
AMAZING! Sharing my last lil bit with Azzrian!

Full review on http://sororiteasisters.com/ on the 27th of March 2013 but here are the snippits:

This Strawberry Cupcake from Simpson and Vail is one of the freshest tasting strawberry teas I have ever sampled. As a dessert tea however I do wish it were a little fuller in the mouthfeel. That is not to say it is thin or watery but I do think that somehow the ripe fresh juiciness almost hurts the thickness in the mouthfeel. I know that does not sound like too bad of a thing now does it? Because it does taste so amazingly fresh almost as if biting into an actual strawberry! I guess I was just anticipating by the decedent aroma and darker colored cup that it would be richer.

I really rather like this since a lot of teas have a wine like flavor, or even mixed drink type flavor, this is one of the few that have this beer type flavor!

I have been surprised by this tea and am thankful to my Steepster friend Marcel Duchamp who shared it with me. Yup this goes on the wish list and I will order it sometime in the future.

. My goodness, I am massively terrible at keeping teas straight after brewing…..

Anyhow! Thanks to momo for a generous sample of this one!!

This is a really delicious tea. All cupcakey, bakey goodness with a creamy, strawberry sweetness. I could be convinced that I’m drinking mushed up infused cupcakes, that’s for sure! Delicious.

Second tea of the day from Simpson and Vail, I may need to stop soon before a caffeine overload. A co-worker remarked on how good the kitchen smelled and accurately identified this as strawberry & chocolate.

Another tea that tastes slightly better with sugar. This really smells like a cupcake and the flavor is pretty good. I do tend to like strawberry flavored teas and this is pretty nice. I only got 1 oz. but will have no problems finishing it off. Hopefully this will cut down on my dessert cravings a bit!

Tea of the morning here. a slightly odd choice for breakfast time, but then again, why not have a strawberry cupcake for breakfast?

This is a pretty good dessert tea, I’m not sure I would get anymore but will certainly finish off what I have. Lots of strawberry flavor present and there IS something about this that reminds me of cake. See previous notes for more details.

TGIF, Steepster!

Tea of the morning here — last night the heat did not come on in my apartment so it’s been chilly. BRRRR! I needed some tea.

All of my new tea orders came in this week so I’ll be busy logging & drinking soon.

This particular blend is nice but I think it needs more strawberry flavor, see previous notes for more details.

hmmmm…so far, not overly impressed with this tea. I’m wondering if i brewed it a little funny or it just really needs sugar to reach it’s happy spot.

I for sure get a chocolatey, cake kind of taste from this, but there isn’t a lot of strawberry in this one. I’m wondering if this needs sugar to bring that out. Or maybe i have a strawberry tea i can blend this with to get more strawberry + cake. I have enough to give it another whirl (more than 1 if i don’t brew it in my giant mugs lol), so the rating might be modified once i get a chance to play a little more.

SIPDOWN!

So this time around? This tea is much improved. I’m not sure if it was teh ratio of goodness in this steeping or what but its much more strawberry like than the first time, though the cake like goodness is also less noticeable in this steep versus the last one. Bumping the rating up since I can see the potential for delicious goodness that this one has.

This is probably better with sugar. I just really don’t want any right now. So it was probably a bad choice but I’ve been meh about trying it so I finally decided to.

I’m really not a fan so far of any of the S&V teas I’ve had. Followed the recommendations, this tastes barely like strawberry. Definitely no cake or frosting or anything like that. Not very sweet, not very tasty. As it cools the tea itself gets really astringent too.

Definitely not one to drink without additions I guess.

I made my first cup and then didn’t have time to drink it until it had cooled considerably, which worked for me since I prefer my teas that way, anyway. This is incredible. Sweet, fruity, cake-y goodness. I don’t really like cake, because the texture kind of turns me off, but this is delicious.

I wish I could order more, but shipping to Canada from Simpson & Vail is a flat rate of $30, and that is impossible for me to justify. Sorry, Strawberry Cupcake. I wish I could drink more of you.

Thanks, Mitch, for this delightful sample!

Thank you Marcel Duchamp for the sample! Sure enough, this has a very natural strong strawberry flavor. Also this is the most pastry or baked goods type flavor I’ve gotten from a flavored tea. Very nice!

For dessert tonight, I opted for this delightfully sweet tea. A little chocolate, strawberries, and frosting mixed together with black tea. I added cream and a pinch of sugar. Yum. Another delicious treat by Simpson & Vail.
